With many words, a search will take you directly to a zoomed-view of the entry for word. In the case where you are only taken to the column of the word, you can draw a rectangle around any entry and save the location, so that subsequent searches will take you straight to a zoomed view of the word.
A search for the word abhandeln shows the entry in a selection rectangle which has been drawn by the user.

top"Huge reference works like this are ideal for CD-ROM treatment. [Since 2001] I continue to use both dictionaries virtually every day; I don't know what I'd do without them. In some ways getting the entire page is even better than a 'fully featured' electronic dictionary because you get to scan the page for possibilities." Kenneth Kronenberg, New England Translators Association President (1997-2001)
"Finding your site with the dictionary in CD form was a godsend - I translate a lot of stuff from German to English and am often looking for vocabulary that has disappeared from more modern editions. But the great thing is having a searchable database that I can take with me on a laptop. What a fabulous idea!" John Winbigler
"To speed my translations of documents at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, where I'll be researching in June, I conducted a web search via Google for 'German translation software'. By using dictionaries that were common during the Nazi era, I hope to render more accurate translations of documents written during that time." Dr Roy Schwartzman, Northwest Missouri State University
"This is a 'must' site for anyone requiring a dictionary for translating 19th Century German. The Dictionaries are supplied as page-images of the originals and are fully searchable. This is an ideal bundle for anyone who is not a fluent German reader but needs to be able to competently translate from German, particularly 19th Century texts, for which present-day printed dictionaries are not always adequate. I recommend it most highly." Tony Woolrich, Landmark Publishing Company
"Until now I have run the dictionaries only from the CD-ROM drives and they both perform exceedingly well using my high definition flat screen display. I am more than pleased with their performance." Denis Jackson, Freelance Translator
topGerman to English Dictionaries on Disc started with a basic German-English computer translator, GE Trans, created to simplify work on a collaborative translation now on Amazon.com.
In terms of German-English dictionaries, it gradually became evident that the early 1900s Muret-Sanders developed a brilliant and very durable method of translation, which they described as such at the time (Die Langenscheidt Methode). Although almost all of it has been lost by today, it remains applicable in many fields. We know most people reading this will have neither the time nor inclination to learn it, but for those who do you are in for a great adventure.
German to English Dictionaries on Disc guarantees any software product will function for 90 days from receipt (14 days after order). Replacement discs are shipped without additional charge.
