Re: Any More Aphorisms?
So long as a preference for infinite time does not cause one to believe that sleep is stealing one's time, or breaking it into discrete segments, a genius never needs to visit the madhouse.
Re: Any More Aphorisms?
If and when a predilection is predicated upon a precipice of corroborated precognition, it may inadvertently determine an indeterminate undermined beginning, but avoid the void, and squirrel-like in the end transcend the nuthouse.

Sartre's greatest (arguably, only great) aphorism: "A writer is not an institution."

So long as girls waste their time on boys, they should remember always to swallow his ejaculate: not only will it put hair on their chests (as the saying goes), but it will remind them of the blunt reality of what they are doing.

Re: Any More Aphorisms?
Words are so pretentious all the time. I feel like a dirty whore writing this aphorism.
Re: Any More Aphorisms?
Phrases give a false sense of inflation; I feel so low using them.

The body, is also wise.
The ability to bring together the mind and body, solves the academic conundrum.
The soul is dimensional space.

Literature has very clear limits. Beyond Gibbons, the scope is too broad and impersonal; before Proust, the scope is too narrow and philosophic; and, beyond Homer, the plot is too complex. Anything that goes beyond these limits is a textbook, a philosophy book, or the Bible.

My 55-pound dog decided that my 10-pound cat's food is designed small to be more delicious than hers. Now that's she's 3 years old, all the evidence in the world couldn't change her mind.

C'mon, Trevor, there have been a lot of borderline words of wisdom posted on this thread, but give me a break. This one is definitely not a fucking aphorism.Trevor Salyzyn wrote:My 55-pound dog decided that my 10-pound cat's food is designed small to be more delicious than hers. Carl: Can a dog become a Buddha? No. Here is why. :P

My dog just spends all day sitting under an old fig tree. When I ask him what he's up to, he just points at a flower and smiles.Trevor Salyzyn wrote:Carl: Can a dog become a Buddha? No. Here is why. :P
The cat looks at him and just says "mu." (Actually it sounds kind of like "meow," but I know what she means.)
Man, animals are so stupid!

Most people define the concept of intelligence so narrowly that it's surprising the dictionary doesn't say "thinks like me".

"It's hard not to suspect that the dreary truth preached by many is, metaphorically speaking, just their personal tinnitus, an involuntary and unwanted sound in their ears, such as buzzing, ringing, or whistling, occurring without an external stimulus, caused by the use of certain drugs or a head injury."

Re: Any More Aphorisms?
Haha, that describes myself perfectly. God, if only I could get this fucking truth to stop ringing in my ears...
Oh well, it's better than not having any buzzing sensation at all.
"If all beings act in some way, it eventually follows that all being is identical to becoming. All the movements of your arm are the arm itself. Whoever separated language into nouns and verbs was, consequently, a raving lunatic."

Re: Any More Aphorisms?
When people preach happiness over truth, I know they are stupid. I can't even conceive of a motive for someone who has the truth to give it up, although I can think of countless motivations to give up my happiness. Unfortunately, it also follows from this that there is absolutely no merit whatsoever in knowing the truth.

Re: Any More Aphorisms?
The only genuine psychological problem, and I'm sure all psychologists at some level know this, but won't admit to because their career is at stake, is that personalities are a problem. A personality is a very specific, disgustingly egotistic, delusional thing. You have a personality problem? No: you have a personality, and that is the problem.

The problem with racism is not inaccuracy, but lack of insight.

Scientology, by using the same methods as psychiatry and achieving the same number of successes, thereby proves that psychiatry is a religion. Where Scientology is superior is that when it has gotten so ridiculous that it can no longer be believed, and one realizes that one's livelihood has been destroyed by delusion, one is forced to admit that L. Ron Hubbard had insight, and thus was behaving wisely.
