The QRS view of gays and lesbians

Post by brokenhead »

Not to change the subject, but what is the QRS attitude toward gays?

I'm rather a new poster here, so if this was covered in depth before, I apologize.

But it seems to me that Sue and the guys are saying it's not women they are against, but rather the standard female consciousness. It seems to be implied that women can change that through effort and self-awareness. Sue certainly seems to be claiming it is possible.

And yet gays maintain that they are born that way, and that nothing could make them straight, no amount of effort, even if they have gotten skillful at maintaining a straight facade. I am speaking of the the gay man who is effeminate, is a devotee of Broadway, opera, and Liza Minelli. I am speaking of the gay man who has women friends he chats with and who think he is sensitive and safe and not like the straight men they know who are always on the make. One who pays a lot of attention to clothes.

I had a gay roommate once who took it upon himself to educate me about homosexuals. I remember two things he told me in particular. "Broken," he said, changing names to protect the innocent, "never trust a fag hair stylist. They always make you look like they want you to look, not like you want to look." The second thing he revealed to me is this: "Faggots only care about two things: looking good, and getting looked at."

I am talking about that type of homosexual.

If gays overwhelmingly believe they were "born that way," i.e., not traditionally masculine with the masculine consciousness, how can any woman hope to or claim to think like the "superior" male? And wouldn't a more rational approach be to spread tolerance for a consciousness that is immutably different, rather than intolerance?

And any thoughts on what causes homosexuality? Is it genetic, socialized, or psychological, or a combination?

My instincts tell me it may be something as simple as a genetic abnormality, such as a gay man is born with the gene that codes for a female's pheremone receptors. Living in a world of invisible pheremones, a gay male will be more affected by male pheremones and will appear to others to be taking on secondary and tertiary female sexual characteristics like vocal inflection and physical mannerisms.

Any opinions, folks?

I believe it is socialized more than genetic, psychological I would put in the category of also genetic. I think the psychological aspect is a little more complicated, and I am more easily able to look at it in a binary way, so I wouldn't disregard the third option, but I would go for socialized of the 3 options you listed.

I'm having a hard time with the italics, can't immediately notice all the words that are italicized, so I am just playing with them here. I hope you understand :)

One of my best friends is a psychiatrist who for a long time headed the Gay Men's Task Force in New York City. This was an extremely high-profile position, in that it was the recipient of a large portion of the City's resources earmarked for dealing with AIDS in its medical, psychological, and social effects.

This woman could single-handedly put the QRS philosophy about female consciousness to shame, but that is the topic for another thread. I have said before that I have been fortunate to know some incredible women, and this is one of them.

In one of our many discussions, she assured me that the vast majority of gay men believe that homosexuality must be genetic, as they are convinced they were "born that way." Most gay men do not feel there was a time in their lives when they were convinced they were heterosexual, and that subsequently they "changed."

I can't find any meaning or coherence in this issue. I couldn't care less about sexual orientation.

I think it is fair to bring up, since in the QRS philosophy, gender seems to matter.

If you think gender matters to our philosophy you necessarily don't understand it; not one iota.

I knew you were going to say that. I understand it just fine. You didn't understand me, so I guess I put it the wrong way. How about this:
Truth, Courage, Honesty, Logic, Masculinity, Wisdom, Perfection
Masculinity vs. Femininity is very much a part of QRS philosophy. Maybe "gender" was the wrong word.

There are still people who question that? It's been pretty well established that for males, sexual orientation is established in the womb. It looks like they are pretty sure that's the way it is for females now, too.

Go ask the Aborigine what they think.

Yeah. I gave my "opinions" throughout.

I asked you to give your definition of "cause". ??

When I'm at the homeless shelter wherever, the last thing on my mind is whether someone (of whatever age) is gay/lesbian. They have no home, they been beat up, no clothes, no money, no food.

So don't lie, cheat, steal etc (meaning live and let live a lifestyle)

Be true to yourself.

I see these sort of gay people everywhere - I hired one who acts like a queen. He does his job "very well" - he doesn't flaunt his lifestyle.

He, she, it, they, we = us - the human race

Aw, come on Elizabeth. Do you believe that?

Strange as it may seem, I've three (3) 1st cousins on my mom's side that walk on the wild side. All three of them from grade school through high school craved the boys.

One is still bi-sexual, David has a daughter from the first marriage, she caught him in bed with another guy - divorced him. He married again this time to a pre-packaged dealwith kids from her first marriage. She is a bit more "liberal" in her thinking and doesn't mind his wild side nor his hotel-motel tendencies. A real flaming bi-sexual. He used to hit on all us boy-cousins growing up. David was banned from many a family reunion.

The other two 1st cousins are brothers. Now these are the real class acts of homo-straights.

The elder one, Mark, liked the boys from grade school on through age-26. He's another one with a Master's degree. I introduced him to Linda, a 1st class nymphomaniac in 1985. Linda taught him the ABCs of female dynamics and he's been straight ever since. About 1989 Married, had a kid. She divorced him when he wanted her to have an abortion...

He stayed in the Army, went to Korea and practically lived in the whorehouses, he'd hire ten at a time. Came back to Minot, ND got a job in an adult bookstore, of course he watched all the porno and tested all the gadgets... he'd stick an anal plug up his chute for a day at a time. No kidding.

Now, Wendell, he is still one bizarro fellow. When he was 4-years-old, he ate a bottle of his mom's birth control pills! Once he got his drivers license at 14, he bought a CB radio and would patrol the truck stops announcing his availability to all the truckers. My older brother (the pot-head) happened to be "smoking a bowl" with some trucker from North American Van Lines, when Wendell started his nightly cruise thru the area. The trucker Bud was with said "Here come that god damn faggot again, he's here every night." Well, Bud recognized the topper on the pickup truck - a one-of-a-kind, very distinguishable from any other vehicle, especially at night! My understanding was he enjoyed giving head and handjobs. He has a Masters in education. What a risky behavior for a schoolteacher. He's finally settled down with an older woman age-55 or so, her husband was killed in Iraq about three years ago. Bleedin' soap opera the both of them.

Whether I've more bi/gays/lesbos in the family tree, i dunno.

It ain't determined in the womb, it's determined in the crotch.

Tomas, strangely enough, you confirmed what the article said. Since you have a cluster in your family tree, that shows that there is a genetic predisposition to this. It also stated that even bi's have more of a preference for one gender over the other, but have such an overactive libido that gender isn't so important to them - and Mark's anal plug behavior seems to support that statement.

There are things that women can provide that men can't - like babies and a more normal-looking life in this biased culture (gays face a lot of prejudice, and gender of choice may not be worth the harassment to some) - so as for "switching" or just claiming to switch - I'd rely more on the scientific studies than the self-reporting.

Elizabeth Isabelle - Tomas,

-tomas-
Yes, maam?

-Ellie-
strangely enough,

-tomas-
Last time I checked the mirror, tis so!

-Ellie-
you confirmed what the article said.

-tomas-
The English report, we decide.

-Ellie-
Since you have a cluster in your family tree,

-tomas-
My mom's two (deceased) sisters, Stella bore the (still) bi-sexual, David.

Doris, bore Mark & Wendell once "gay" now straight.

-Ellie-
that shows that there is a genetic predisposition to this.

-tomas-
Wendell wolfing down the bottle of birth-control pills about 1969? I think that came from her husband's side of the family (the outlaws), lotsa suicides on that side plus genetic defect of deafness runs on his side. (damn norwegian heritage)

-Ellie-
It also stated that even bi's have more of a preference for one gender over the other,

-tomas-
Edit: Stella's first married to Albert Sr. Albert Jr.(Rusty) and Ronald (Ron)

Rusty married Sharon and had two kids. He had a strange thing in his chemisty - he liked to spank! Not only his two boys ... but also his wife, Sharon. Wonderful lady, makes the best Kuchen around! She got rid of that moron, the spankig-the-wife was over the top and hitting kids into their teens is loserville... Rusty has followed her all the way to Phoenix. Sharon has a restraining order to keep him 1/2 mile from her. Rusty also was a school teacher. I dunno, maybe the stork dropped him on his head.

Now Ron, he was Mr. "Charlie Sheen" with the ladies. He was caught in the sack in high school (his parent's bed) well that ended that romance with Marilyn...

He's happily married to Sheila with three boys and a girl, all grown and out of the nest years ago.

.....

David is one strange dude, built like a Shetland pony (get the drift?). He's 57 this year. The liberated 1960s are to blame :-)

He's also a love child... Stella was married once before (two boys), then divorced. She took up with Archie, got knocked up, then they "married" - pretty cool thing for 1951. Grew up in a small town, population 150-200.

A year later, came Deb (Debbie), Deb did the wild thang - got herself knocked up with Rob, they married and had two boys. Rob died (pancreatic cancer) in 1988 - a wonderful husband (made for each other) and everybody liked this guy. It's true the saying, "The good?- they die young..."

Well, after Rob died, she had a couple boys to raise and she took up with (and married) the high school gym teacher. He turned out to be a woman-beater. A few broken bones later, she left him. He connived her into selling the ranch claiming he deserved the alimony! She's now married to (in my opinion) a real Z-E-R-O. She doesn't appear to be happy, as she's spending her savings on his fly-by-night schemes. Ah! Love is blind!

-Ellie-
but have such an overactive libido that gender isn't so important to them - and Mark's anal plug behavior seems to support that statement.

-tomas-
Sure, Mark and Wendell's first few years were in Minot, then moved to farm. A small country school.

-Ellie-
There are things that women can provide that men can't - like babies and a more normal-looking life in this biased culture (gays face a lot of prejudice, and gender of choice may not be worth the harassment to some)

-tomas-
Doris had a nervous breakdown in the early 1950s after some doctor (I'll keep unnamed) prescribed "speed" for her, she was cramming for tests and working a job to pay her way thru college. Well, then the doc got her started on anti-depressants. Hildor's mother told him once (the matchmaker) when he was 18 and Doris age-6 "Someday this girl will be your wife." But Hildor wasn't let it on the "dark secret" of Doris's nervous breakdown of a few years earlier. Doris was a med-tech for many years but quit work in about 1971 as her bizarre behaviorism (psychiatric drugs) began levying (exacting) an ever-increasing toll on her doctor-prescribed road from psych-ward to psych-ward. Hildor pretty much had to do the housework and raise the kids. (I taught Mark & Wendell how to tie their shoes) The deep family secret was kept from him for years. I told him back in 2003 what had "happened" to Doris in the 1950s ... I simply thought he had known .. but the traitorous bro's and sis's kept him ignorant (in the dark) of the family secret.

-Ellie-
- so as for "switching" or just claiming to switch - I'd rely more on the scientific studies than the self-reporting.

-tomas-
Yeah, I understand that it (hotel-motel) runs in all families :-/

As far as scientific studies go, after a while "the fine line" begins to blur :-(

We have six grown kids - outta the house - and our nine-year-old still here obviously.

None are gay/lesbo/bi as far as we know - oh well.

Jana and I lucked out and found each other early in
life. (when you come to a fork in the road - take it)

Carl - you thought that Tomas was saying that he lived in a homeless shelter because it is outside of your usual world that people volunteer for things. It is quite obvious that you do not volunteer anywhere. It is natural for people to work from the childish assumption that all people are basically like us, and then see the differences. People are really, actually, different from each other. Until you grasp that fact, you will not have a chance of actually understanding anyone but yourself.
