what's the trick?

Post by ishmael »

when it is claimed that one 'believes' in god for example, my question is ,'how is it done?' what occurs? is there a process i'm missing totally ? My guess is that there is only the claim to the ability and the authenticity of the self claiming. . Last time i checked description was not truths paint brush. and the assertion that we must respect each others beliefs is absurd. Its a conspiracy of stupidity and dishonesty.

Belief itself is the problem. Every consciousness is stuck with what it's given. The nature of consciousness is that stuff that appears can't be absolutely verified; a consciousness cannot "peep" outside itself. So taking the step into belief, ie. positing things to be verifiable and reliable, is a mistake.

Reason doesn't depend on belief at any stage in the process. It just takes what's on offer.

By thinking about cause and effect, and realising that thinking is part of cause and effect.
