New Scientology Commercials
New Scientology Commercials
God knows what kind of karma this new scientology commercial will bring about. I've already seen several of them on the television. I think these commercials are going to be effective at steering a lot of people in the wrong direction.
Re: New Scientology Commercials
LOL! New Scientology Commercial: "The Search.....for someone to tell you what to think." That video was filled with soft, suggestible faces. And with promises of wonderful emotions and unconditional protection, how could people resist? Unfortunately, I second the effectiveness.
The Menoftheinfinite Youtube channel is a great start, but it needs to be bigger, louder, and include some expert advertising.

Re: New Scientology Commercials
They just had a Nightline special four days ago called "Inside Scientology". It's definitely worth a watch. You can find all three parts here. Toward the end of part three is the best part, where scientology's spokesman, Tom Davis, walks out of the interview after being asked to divulge whether or not he adheres to the core beliefs of scientology, e.g. lord xenu, body thetans, etc.
I wonder if it's just a coincidence that these new scientology commercials are popping up around the same time Nighline did this special. Me thinks it is not.

Re: New Scientology Commercials
Scientology is no more deceptive than Buddhism, or Atheism.
Satan is clever, he cares not what you believe, as long as it's not in the true God that is Yeshua.

So that's what you call him eh? I guess Diebert was right about you getting drunk on judeo-christian philosophy.prince wrote:Satan is clever, he cares not what you believe, as long as it's not in the true God that is Yeshua.
Re: New Scientology Commercials
Actually I call him king dickweasel.
He loves to deceive your dumb ass, too.

You know, it just fully occurred to me, that one should primarily lead by example, not directly challenge.
Re: New Scientology Commercials
Hey prince, I'm just glad you finally came clean with your eccentricities and religious beliefs. Better than watching you struggle to create a fake persona that just shoots one-line zingers at easy targets and then proceed to sink back into the shadows. It was getting kind of tired.

What sparked this occurrence? Does this mean you aren't going to seduce women anymore? :Dskipair wrote:You know, it just fully occurred to me, that one should primarily lead by example, not directly challenge.
Re: New Scientology Commercials
It was a visual metaphor in my mind that's hard to explain. But for example, that Scientology video didn't specifically point to other paths and directly call them invalid. It didn't address where people are, or where they might be going. It just said, "Go this way!!!" and let the mood be reason enough for people to follow.Nick Treklis wrote:What sparked this occurrence?
Haha! No way!!! I can't resist those cute little devils. They're way too much fun. :)Does this mean you aren't going to seduce women anymore? :D
Re: New Scientology Commercials
It does if you read between the lines, what does it specifically leave out...skipair wrote: But for example, that Scientology video didn't specifically point to other paths and directly call them invalid.
Re: New Scientology Commercials
Agreed. That's what makes it powerful, I think. For another example, whenever I see political commercials that explain all the reasons that an opponent is a bad choice, I'm immediately turned off. I don't want to know why I shouldn't vote for someone else, I want to know why I should vote for YOU. For the first time in my lifetime, the democrats finally caught onto this in the Obama campaign. He essentially "out-positived" McCain.prince wrote:It does if you read between the lines, what does it specifically leave out...

I'm not convinced of that. My journey started, but didn't end, there......Nick Treklis wrote:God knows what kind of karma this new scientology commercial will bring about. Leyla, you will always be a bit sexy. (your mind)
even if you are a friggin girl.

I don't know what you're talking about. Are you saying you used to be a scientologist?Leyla Shen wrote:I'm not convinced of that. Hey prince, if you think Leyla has a sexy mind, even though she's just a "friggin girl", how much more sexy do you think my mind is being that I'm a man?

Some would most definitely have said so (and did). I did the Purif, bought and read several books (Dianetics and Science of Survival being the two I was most interested in) and did several academy ("advanced") courses. Nothing more than a hint on Xenu, though. I didn't know he had a name!Nick Treklis wrote:I don't know what you're talking about. Hmmm. So, yeah, you don't find girls, like, sexy? Or is it you don't find a woman with the mind of a girl sexy - or, you only find men sexy?prince wrote:Leyla, you will always be a bit sexy. (your mind)

You have to admit, it was rather ambiguous! (Just after I got accused of such a thing, too!)

Scientology just got convicted of fraud here a couple of days ago, a 600,000 € fine and one of the church's head was prisoned for a 2 years. There was talk that they should be banned, but that wasn't thought a healthy option for fear of "underground activities". BBC article. It's gone to appeal.
Re: New Scientology Commercials
I don't think they reveal their core beliefs, such as Xenu, until you have worked your way through all the other teachings first.Leyla Shen wrote:Some would most definitely have said so (and did). Anyways, how did you first get involved with scientology? How old were you, and how did you get out of it?
Re: New Scientology Commercials
I think they're also trying to classify Scientology as a business, not as a religion, in Germany. It will be interesting to see how this battle turns out, and the precedence it sets for similar organizations.Robert wrote:Scientology just got convicted of fraud here a couple of days ago, a 600,000 € fine and one of the church's head was prisoned for a 2 years. I meant woman, not girl.
You sexy Leyla, me love you long time!
Re: New Scientology Commercials
No I don't find you sexy at all. Atheism is not sexy either.Nick Treklis wrote:Hey prince, if you think Leyla has a sexy mind, even though she's just a "friggin girl", how much more sexy do you think my mind is being that I'm a man?
God made sexuality and eroticism for humans so that they can get a taste of the buzz that he gets from creating, too.

Re: New Scientology Commercials
I don't know. Thinking back, I probably just ignored most references to that kind of stuff; also, I think it was probably such a weird idea it may not have registered at all! I was more interested in the practical application. The purif, for instance, was excellent. I'd do that again. The biggest difficulty I had was with the ethics technology (!) :). But, I have always had trouble being a part of group - a LOT of trouble; any group.Nick Treklis wrote:I don't think they reveal their core beliefs, such as Xenu, until you have worked your way through all the other teachings first.Leyla Shen wrote:Some would most definitely have said so (and did). I first got involved at 18 when I fell in love with a beautiful girl, who was a Scientologist. :)
For me, the question of "how did you get out of it" is really quite strange, and I'll explain why--one day, I just walked out of the front door and have had no inclination to walk back in. I remember being approached once by a notorious deprogrammer LOL. I don't know, he rambled some shit at me as I was walking into the Melbourne org - he seemed pretty upset.... :)
The thing with me, though, is that I was never interested in any sort of hype or being drawn in by crowd excitement. My involvement, as with anything, had to be based on something of intellectual substance, not emotional gratification. They couldn't "get to me" solely by demonstrating my discontent and, in the end, as much as I saw some really cool results, the notion of an immortal soul does not sit well with me, no matter how much I'd wished it had! I think that's the key.
