I let Sphere70 bully me into allowing that thread to have images. So if you want to post images, that's the thread to put them in. Aside from that, I'm against the posting of images as a rule.

I still haven't seen you put forward a good argument for having that rule. The amount of effort you have to put in trying to enforce would probably be roughly equal to the amount of effort you have to put in removing inappropriate images.

I've given my arguments. As to whether or not these arguments are good, that's up to me, as moderator, to decide. In my view, the cons outweigh the pros. I haven't had any problems enforcing it thus far, as the issue rarely comes up.

The Talking Ass® will not appear in a forum in which the locos there can post images willy-nilly. The Talking Ass® supports David, his family, his associates, his heirs and assigns, his fleas, his 'causal stream' (trickle, river, ocean) in which he floats, and ultimately 'the Infinite' as well as Infinitude its very self in keeping GF free of images and pictures.
The amount of effort you have to put in trying to enforce would probably be roughly equal to the amount of effort you have to put in removing inappropriate images.
This is a false statement, even to the ears of an ass, since 'enforcing it' is in fact only the very act of removing images posted by 1) the ignorant or 2) the foolish.

No, I got out of the rat-race with my sanity and a whole brand-new outlook on life, along with a deep understanding of myself and the wall-to-wall human insanity.
jupiviv wrote:This is a serious question - did you "team up" with a female, because she is a woman, or simply because she was another follower of the infinite? If it was because she is female, then you're being a hypocrite, since you are a follower of your desire for being with a woman, and not the infinite.

If it was because she was another follower of the infinite, then what was the point of separately teaming up with her? Weren't you already teamed up with her, and all the other things in the universe, in an a priori sense?

I mean, even a rock is a follower of the infinite, since it can't possibly be anywhere other than inside the infinite. Why make the effort to team up and spend time with particular things within the infinite?
Keeping it simple and down-to-earth here, my highly-sensitive male human organism drove me towards such a union, which is but a completion of itself, or myself. A wondrous union that I never really thought was possible or that I would ever find.
jupiviv wrote:But what's wrong with that? Isn't he a FOTI(follower of the infinite)?

He may be a FOTI, but I feel he's near the end of the parade, or perhaps not in it at all any longer.
jupiviv wrote:If being a FOTI is the whole point, then what's the reason for denigrating fellow FOTIs who are not like you?
To try and help get them in step. Get them honest and back on the 'pink-cloud' again.

Absolutely. And I'm also looking beyond the stars. Looking at the perfection of it all from the vantage point of the "Kingdom" (that's within).

cousinbasil wrote:Me too, Bob, minus the play, vital and necessary though it may be. When "totally free of work," it has not usually been by choice. And I do not have a wife who works and makes such periods amenable to play. Funny how the "ball-and-chain" that keeps one from getting one's stick wet elsewhere becomes "the better half" when she brings home the bacon.
I'm no longer involved in play, rather, as I alluded, I'm a dedicated employee of the Infinite. Nor do I have any desire to "get the stick wet" anywhere else anymore. Since where genuine love exists sex is always fresh, new, alive, and creative, even with the same partner. Not to mention that most women are quite poor at love making and have to be trained in the art. That is those relatively few who have the sensitivity for developing such talent. Making extramarital affairs pretty much of a drag for the free-spirit.
Usually such a free-thinking woman resembles Alfred E. Newman. Your more typical woman is a follower of Orca Winfrey, although one glance out over one of her studio audiences is often enough to cause one's ball sac to withdraw in terror deep into one's body cavity.
Perhaps I should have said I'm teamed up with a follower of a follower of the Infinite. i.e. Man loves the Infinite - woman (a true woman) loves the Infinite in such a man.
It's never too late to take up English as a First Language, Bob. The last of in that first sentence should be omitted - it is why one writes "of which" earlier in the sentence, so one can avoid ending the sentence with the preposition. ("Ending a sentence with a preposition is one thing up with which I will not put." - Churchill.)
This probably stems from my Pennsylvania Dutch (German) heritage. And is of little importance to me. Getting my points across is all that matters. Along with being well aware that nip-picking detractors are everywhere.
But to the content of this quote... You have been "free from work" for some 35 years, and you have a wife who for some reason doesn't mind supporting you and with whom you claim to have a fulfilling sexual relationship. You do not mention your age, but 35 years is a long time. Some of those years must have fallen within the bracket normally considered prime working age. I take it from the facts in this last post of yours that the wife has been with you through all this. Surely that cannot be a prerequisite for enlightenment...? A woman who does not kick her deadbeat man out the door...? You must be hung like a hoss, my friend.
You fail to read me correctly. I said I've been fully retired from the rat-race for some 6 years. And my GF profile clearly and correctly states that I am 70. My third wife has been through this with me for 24 of those 35 years. And again LOVE is the key to it all, and surely not being "hung like a hoss."
My question is, why so dour? You claim you are anything but. Yet you come across as bitter with the world, and it is fairly clear that if it were up to you, that is, if you were the God from whom you expect this universal cataclysm, the end would begin forthwith. In fact, you seem to see the beginning of the end as having already taken place.
I'm not bitter at all. What is - is. I simply point out the rottenness of the human world in hopes that some others get sick and tired of it enough to make the grand liberating leap for themselves. And surely I'm not going to fill my 'Ark' with dour, spiritually dead lovers of themselves and the world.
My question to you is, where is this Ark already? More often than not, it seems to be a figurative construction of yours, something to dream about, much like Lenny's rabbit farm in Of Mice and Men. "Tell me about the Ark, George..." You have had 35 years of being "free from work," and you haven't as much as made a canoe from a hollowed-out log. Wait - I get it! Building the Ark is work! Maybe you could buy the Little Woman a saber saw and some lumber...?
The 'Ark' does not yet exist, but the plans are in the making. I'm not so sure yet I'm in the right country for such an adventure. Many of those 35 years were spent on self-discovery/self-renewal and study. Not to mention back-sliding into the ways of the world on occasion. It's only in the last couple of years (upon being fully retired from the aslyum) that full liberation and wisdom were attained to and the urgent need for an 'Ark' came to mind.
Hey, do not take me seriously, Bob (as if you would!) I don't take you seriously. And you know why? I don't think you really care if anyone takes you seriously. That's the real difference between you and David, at least as far as I can see. David may at times sound tongue-in-cheek when he goes on about being at a perpetual banquet tossing crumbs about to lesser folk, but if you read enough of his posts, you get a consistency that tells you David is quite serious about his self-designated role in helping others to see the truths he sees, regardless of how true you may think them.
Well, I'm dead serious about all this, C/B. And David may very well be too. But he, as he is, has grave limitations. "Table-scraps" and "crumbs", as you allude to, is all he's got to offer others. So again, unless he gets with the program, so to speak, his efforts in helping others find full and total liberation from the bondage of the societally-conditioned self will be to absolutely no avail.

The road to hell is paved with well-meaning and good intentions. Whereas the road to heaven (on earth) is one of trials and tribulations, suffering, and 'total' self-overcoming. And few there be that ever journey on the latter road who find the Gold.
In other words, David does not mind inviting us beggars to his banquet to grab at his table-scraps, while it sounds as though you would be intent on making this Ark as exclusive as possible. In fact, I think you would build it just so you could have the joy of whacking hangers-on clutching at the rails over the head with an oar. That is, when the Flood comes.
Indeed, it will be an esoteric adventure. From my vantage point, with very few exceptions, I see myself surrounded everywhere by the living dead. So if people are dead dead it's really all the better for everyone involved. But this necessary part of the master plan is completely out of my hands.

You're not as free as you'd like to think you are, David. Remember, if the state goes broke, or wises up to your shenanigans, so do you. And then you'll have to find someone else to fill your begging bowl.
What about homosexuals? Does their sexual orientation immediately exclude them from enlightenment? I guess that's 10% of the population crossed off the list!

What about the asexual, those who derive little or no pleasure from sexual interaction? I suppose we can cross them off as well.

And what about the blokes who do not have the great fortune to meet a female follower of the Infinite? After all, according to you, followers of the Infinite are as rare as hen's teeth, regardless of their sex. Does the gate of heaven also shut them out as well?
David, if you were as enlightened and as wise as you 'think' you are, you would know perfectly well who gets into the Kindgom of God/Heaven/Happiness/Love and who does not. And remember too, irregardless of sexual orientation, or lack thereof, only around 5% of the entire population of the world are capable of Kingdom entry under any circumstances.
I guess that just about crosses everyone else from the list, leaving Bob (and his other half) to pave the way for all of us. The half-soul called "Bob" and the half-soul called "Bob's wife" are truly our saviours

Verily I say, marriage is for half-wits...
Say whatever you will, David, but the 'Spirit and the bride' can only pave the way for those who can and then exercise the courage to 'walk it'.

Yours truly,

The Joyful Half-Wit

You ignored my main question - both you, your male human organism, the female human organism it has joined with, and every other thing that you can conceive of, are part of the Infinite, and as such followers of the Infinite(since what else would the ultimately follow?) Additionally, all of us are in total union with each other imprimis.

Given these facts - why do you feel the need to confer such special status on a particular union, viz., that between the male and female human organism, and especially between your own male human organism and the female it has chosen to unite with?

So what you really value is not the Infinite, but the pink-cloud which you have settled upon. Nice to have that cleared up.

Bob Michael: I'm no longer involved in play, rather, as I alluded, I'm a dedicated employee of the Infinite.
Well, I was just responding to what you had written:
Throughout the ensuing years I've experienced many times and periods of solitude that were totally free of work which were times of vital and necessary play and self-rediscovery.

Perhaps I should have said I'm teamed up with a follower of a follower of the Infinite. i.e. Man loves the Infinite - woman (a true woman) loves the Infinite in such a man.
Can't help but emphasize the asymmetry in that, Bob. It sounds as if you are not looking for - and certainly not expecting to find - the Infinite in a woman, at least not in the same sense you think the "true" woman looks for it and loves it in a man. I'll let you in on a little secret. Women by and large do not give a rat's ass about any Infinite. If a man is preoccupied with the Infinite, a true woman realizes he is not preoccupied with material things. Women are far more realistic and materialistic, and by and large believe the way to material plenitude is through a man or even many men. Money talks. Especially today's women, the ones who are still fertile. An expensive wristwatch on a man is more attractive than the pursuit of any Infinite, unless we are talking Infinite Wealth. So tout your good fortune in finding such a partner who cares for the true good in her man - but do not put down those men who cannot find such a woman. A FOTI is rare enough among males; a suitable companion for him rarer still. A FOTI is scorned by society as Frankenstein's monster, condemned to piecing together his Bride, an arm from this woman, a leg from that one. Even you average guy only seeks his Maker so he can ask Him to create a suitable partner.
Not to mention that most women are quite poor at love making and have to be trained in the art.
Most women don't know how to cook what you like to eat, either, so what?
And again LOVE is the key to it all, and surely not being "hung like a hoss."
I can't tell you how glad I am to hear you say that.
The 'Ark' does not yet exist, but the plans are in the making. I'm not so sure yet I'm in the right country for such an adventure.
Try Brazil - it still has trees. You can keep your costs down and fly under the radar.
From my vantage point, with very few exceptions, I see myself surrounded everywhere by the living dead. So if people are dead dead it's really all the better for everyone involved.
Someone has to build your Ark...

This cracks me up, although you probably didn't intend it to be funny. Why should he need to find a companion, if he truly follows the Infinite? Find me a place where the Infinite is not present! You don't need to find a wife or a friend if you follow the Infinite. Somewhere in the Bible there's a phrase - "I am with you always." That is what it means.

The Talking Ass® Bible Research & Hermeneutics Center™ wishes to be of service here, Dear Jupi:
Matthew wrote:Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
What proceeds that is this:
Matthew wrote:In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
Mark has the best ending of all:
Mark wrote:When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

This comment neatly encapsulates everything about you, Bob. Your lack of imagination. Your inexperience with the Infinite. Your egotistical need to have a devoted wife. The great value you place on emotional happiness. The dourness of your personality. Your will to buffoonary and self-caricature (Ark anyone?). It's all there in those few lines.

The freedom of the Infinite doesn't depend on external circumstances. It isn't something that appears and disappears in response to accidents of fortune. It literally means freedom from all things, from all circumstances. If a person is truly immersed in the Infinite's freedom, then an event like getting kicked off a government pension would make no difference to him.
  • To the sage, neither death nor life makes any change in him, and how much
less should the consideration of advantage and injury do so!
    - Chuang Tzu
Surely this is obvious to anyone who has even the slightest inkling of what the Infinite is. And yet you seem oblivious to it. And why? Because far from being open to the Infinite's great freedom, your mind is instead wrapped around the wife and the emotional happiness she provides. She is the true source of your life.

A follower of the Infinite, you say? Don't make me laugh. You avoid it like the plague!

One of the many dangers of having a devoted wife is that you can so easily begin to believe her worshipful prattle. Over and over she keeps telling you how fantastic you are. "Oh, Bob, my love, you are the wisest and most intelligent man I know". Oh, how the male ego laps this sort of stuff up! He begins to believe his own press, not realizing what a fool he makes of himself to the outside world.

David Quinn wrote:(...) As always, you have everything arse-backwards. There can't be any talk about ethical considerations until the mind is awake to reality and free of delusions. If the tool is faulty, then the work it will do will also be faulty. Without the clarity of enlightenment, one can be nothing more than a blind man playing the role of the proverbial "do-gooder" - well-intentioned, perhaps, but ultimately doing far more harm than good.

The mind first has to be rid of all falseness, together with its associated fears, insecurities and defensive barriers. Only then will it be in a position to see what needs to be done.

The sage has no mind of his own.
He is aware of the needs of others.
(Tao Te Ching)

That is ethics in a nutshell.

Or alternatively, one could wrap oneself around in multiple conceptual layers and hide away in the womb of an absurdist persona, and mock everyone else in a crude, defensive manner, such that clarity has no chance of ever materializing. That's certainly a plan.

-
Considering that every state and market has been firmed by unenlightened people, all of them are without ethical consideration and deluded when coming from ethical principles. Does that make working or social security policies, for example, by themselves beyond ethical considerations if not unethical?

There's no need to believe in her worshipful prattle(if that's even possible). The very existence of it in his life is enough. If Bob were truly a follower of the Infinite, his wife(and probably any other woman on this planet) would run for the hills, let alone worship him.

[Shhhhhhhh. It's me. Shhhhhhh! This is my 'golf-whisper voice' when I want to have an intimate conversation and (shhhhhh) don't want the others to hear. A little parlay between the 'I and thou' as it were. Come a little closer. There, that's better. Notice this emerging exchange between Bob and David, Big B and Big D, our Enlightened Masters? *Don't laugh! DON'T!* Okay, I admit its funny. They are an almost exact mirror of each other! Yes, I know. I know, I know, I was going to say that same thing! (Keep it down, will ya?!) Now, Big D turns against Big B---really gets heavy on him, going to put the little upstart in his place! Yes! I was going to say exactly the same thing! I was! But now, enough's enough! Bob shall be shown what's what since: There Can Be Only One! Oh God, yes! Of course they can't see what it looks from the outside, that would imply self-awareness. I agree I agree! Bob's 'Ark' corresponds to David's 'life mission'! Check out this lingo: "Surely this is obvious to anyone who has even the slightest inkling of what the Infinite is". Bwaaaa haaaa haaa haaaa! (*sputter, cough, gag!*) I see Dojo door opening, some disciples gathered in a circle around the one they imagined as Guru. The Enlightenment Contenders face each other. Some acid stares, one of self-righteousness, one of shame. The confused disciples stare at them with adoring eyes, wide as saucers. But, in a rhetorical sword fight, Sri Sri David, with three quick verbals strokes drops the False Guru Bob's drawers and archly proclaims,
  • "Surely this is obvious to anyone who has even the slightest inkling of what the Infinite is." (Side note: No one on GF has even the slightest idea!)
"Ooooooh Aaaaaah!" Comes the amazed cooing of the Very Impressed! "Dude knows what he's talking about!" Okay, okay, shhhhhhhhhh. There's surely gonna be a blow-up. Let's pay close attention! This might get even better.]

Oddly, both the Mighty Quinn and the Bobster admit to being on pensions. When the printing presses overheat due to the pyramid scheme (The Federal Reserve System "scam") being exposed .. who's gonna be left standing?

Both micro-chipped in the right hand and forehead. Gotta keep those pensions 'funds' rolling in (save he that has the mark of the beastly system. The Revelation 13:16-17.

If you can't buy or sell how will you live?

My vote is for both of them.

But this "total union with each other imprimis" you refer to (which I fundamentality see as the broken, fragmented, empty, and lifeless concept of most 'new agers') is not a union of love, harmony, and true brotherhood, but rather it's primarily one of physical and psychological violence and insanity everywhere. Which is clearly apparent to those who are at least half-awake.

The divinely (meaning also fully and totally humanly) orchestrated M/F union is the model for peace, love, harmony, and human perfection. And all other unions are but mere shadows of the real thing, and lack its radiance, lustre, and glory. All of which manifest only from perfect companionship with the Infinite.

The 'pink-cloud' I've "settled on" is the same thing as Christ's Kingdom of God or Kingdom of Heaven. And the price for entry therein is again, in other words, the complete death of one's enculturated self and perfect obedience to the will of the Infinite or our Heavenly Father.

Bob: Perhaps I should have said I'm teamed up with a follower of a follower of the Infinite. i.e. Man loves the Infinite - woman (a true woman) loves the Infinite in such a man.

C/B: Can't help but emphasize the asymmetry in that, Bob. It sounds as if you are not looking for - and certainly not expecting to find - the Infinite in a woman, at least not in the same sense you think the "true" woman looks for it and loves it in a man. I'll let you in on a little secret. Women by and large do not give a rat's ass about any Infinite.

Bob: Women innately need and seek men who are capable of loving them and understanding their needs. But since such kinds of men are virtually non-existent and women no longer intimately know themselves, they seek blindly and in vain and have become essentially mad seekers of power, wealth, material security, prestige, and many other various sorts of things.

C/B: If a man is preoccupied with the Infinite, a true woman realizes he is not preoccupied with material things.

Bob: Women by and large are merely fallen and broken Eves. Consequently they know not their true nature, their true place in life, or their full human potential. And the same thing is true of men. Men are virtually all broken Adams. And since life has become solely about self-survival, women passionately and tenaciously pursue material or worldly, rather than spiritual, security. But men themselves have weakened and follow along these very same lines. Which is the real problem, the real human dilemma. The demise of true manhood everywhere. However, and fortunately for the sake of the survival of the human race, there have been and continue to be exceptions (both M & F) to this continuing, all-prevailing rule. Though even the best of these exceptions to date have not sufficiently overcome their fallen and thereby 'human, all-too-human' nature and ways; nor have they gained enough self-knowledge to become true and effective role models for any of the other potential exceptions to the rule. But this will soon change and the necessary radical transformation and breakthrough of some of these exceptions will soon begin to take place. And it will eventually become quite revivalistically explosive in nature.

C/B: A FOTI is rare enough among males; a suitable companion for him rarer still. A FOTI is scorned by society as Frankenstein's monster, condemned to piecing together his Bride, an arm from this woman, a leg from that one. Even your average guy only seeks his Maker so he can ask Him to create a suitable partner.

Bob: FOTIs are not that terribly rare. What is quite rare are those who walk perfectly hand-in-hand with the Infinite. Giving lip-service to the Infinite is cheap and easy and runs rampant everywhere. But walking in full relationship with the will of the Infinite is quite rare as this requires courage and fullness of manhood.

Bob: The 'Ark' does not yet exist, but the plans are in the making. I'm not so sure yet I'm in the right country for such an adventure.

C/B: Try Brazil - it still has trees. You can keep your costs down and fly under the radar.

Bob: My primary concern is finding a location that would not be affected by the impending and necessary nuclear holocaust.

Bob: From my vantage point, with very few exceptions, I see myself surrounded everywhere by the living dead. So if people are dead dead it's really all the better for everyone involved.

C/B: Someone has to build your Ark...

Bob: Yes, though it will be those who have been successfully resurrected from the dead. The dead dead (the unregenerates) would only bring darkness and insanity into this greatest of adventures.

Yes, this is so Tomas, but I earned my pension fair and square. Whereas if everyone sponged off of society like David does, the systems would have all collapsed long ago. And his claim of sonship with the Infinite is a piss-poor excuse for his clearly obvious ways of weakness and cunning.

Now Bob's been reduced to replying to CB and Tomas.

Better start nailing the Ark together, Bobby boy, your other half's gonna need somewhere to sleep. And don't forget the duvet.

And the carrots, talking ass wants to hitch a ride.
