Nick,
It is a bit of a painting, this thread. My character on this thread is an exagerated mythological lop-sided hero, not really the realistic me. I wanted to paint the strange tongued hero -- and so I picked a way of talking that I felt embodied a sort of idiotic genius, a sort of autistic, primitive childlike savant, a prometheus.
You have to admit, there have been moments on this thread where my writing truly has approached genius. That's really what it all boils down to. Yeah, there was alot of water, but you boil it away and you have cooked potatoes and carrots of genius. I think some of the negative reactions are rooted in a bit of jealousy. They are jealous of my freedom.

Actually, your spudly character was only half-baked.That's really what it all boils down to. Yeah, there was alot of water, but you boil it away and you have cooked potatoes and carrots of genius.
No, this forum digs up the truth - it does not bury it in a flowie, flowery garden.I think some of the negative reactions are rooted in a bit of jealousy. They are jealous of my freedom.

Is a fishermen being honest when he baits his hook to trick the fish?sschaula wrote:Start being honest.

How hard those fools came down on Aaron for his sins! How vain! lol
Guilty and envious scoundrels!
The foolish ones always react so strongly.
Nick, Scott, Steven and Rowden's presence on this thread was emotionally detatched, calm.
Scott, you were a little too pleased by the escapades, and I recomend a bit more seriousness and earnestness.
Rory, Elizabeth and Trever, you all have unwarranted images of yourselves. Carl, you're somewhere in between. I sense you are one of those guys who needs to lose a bit of weight. Get out and do some jogging - lay off on the christmas egg-nog.
Anyone who I forget to mention, I apologize. I'm sure I will have the time to give you a evaluation/consultation.
But Scott, like Rowden and Nick, you were wise enough to not bite too eagerly - but rather just a few calm questions.
Rowden in particular had the wisdom and appreciation for metaphor to know that, behind the savant like persona, was a fairly perceptive man with good command over language.
The truth is I have a god-like command over language.
This has been a tremendous and startingly powerful introduction to Aaron Mathis for everyone I'm sure.
I wish everyone a good sleep or a good day. I assure you, that your life has been significantly changed for the better due to my introduction to this plethra of petria dishish threads agglomerating into the noble village of the genius forum

Well, that was somewhat, if not entirely, humorous. So, Aaron, what is Woman to you? What is her nature, what is her power and why need she be conquered? And, moreover, how much of that which needs to be conquered is purely a product of a man's own mind. That last question possibly being the most important of all of them.....

Causality, of course.sschaula wrote:Why does this forum attract such characters?
Aaron,
You say I have an unwarranted image of myself, but you state
A god would use language to communicate and be understood - not to veil thoughts. I say you have an unwarranted image of yourself, and remind me a great deal of another member who calls himself "unwise" - yes, you remind me of him a great deal... and you introduce Aaron Mathis as a mythical character... and state:Aaron Mathis wrote:The truth is I have a god-like command over language.

Sounds a little like what some of the guys were saying when they were justifying the use of lies to trick a mind into enlightenment...Is a fishermen being honest when he baits his hook to trick the fish?
Also sounds familiar...Aaron Mathis wrote:What matters is being honest to yourself. That way you can trick your environment wisely, and thus distinguish the fools from the men.

Aaron, our paths cross again, I've been tracking you for months now, up to your old tricks again I see. Bewitching and bewildering these poor humans, I wanna know who let you out of the inner world to reek such havoc? I want their name.Scott! you took the bait! A.M,
It's obvious at this point you lied about your intentions. You aren't here to look for a teacher.
The ruts are caused by my own tracks. Since you like metaphors, I carry water daily from a well that has not run dry.
No, you are a man who over-rates what he has done. You were the one who used the word sin, and hence implied your own feelings of guilt. What you have is of no concern to me. In fact, what you have done is also of no concern. I care much more about what you intend to do.So I am the man who over-rates what he has, in order to smother his guilt and even envy?

It was a direct reference to herd mentality. Weak-willed people would rather be surrounded by other weak-willed people than alone in their own guilt.I don't know what you mean here Trevor.
Living alone has nothing to do with independence. For all I know, you could be obsessed with reading books, or chatting online, or spending time at work. I refered specifically to philosophic independence: not needing a teacher, not needing the validation of others, and being able to think about truth without a helping hand at any time of day.how is it that I am not an independent adult? I live alone. Trevor, are you stuck in a bit of a rut now in life?

I like flattery as much as the next man, but you can stop with the lies. Your ego is the same as it ever was.Well, if this is the case - - -then you have done a noble deed by throwing the big crushing blow to this ego. The Great hero Trevor!
No, it's not reverse psychology. I firmly believe that if you think you learned something from having sex, you might as well just keep having it. The thing that I told you to learn, which is a valuable lesson, you can learn by thinking deeply about ANYTHING (which makes it so valuable).I guess you are pulling the old reverse psychology trick? If not - you trevor are the great fool this time!
I assure you, I have no intentions of trying to make a girl feel guilty for sleeping with you. You do enough of that on your own.You are quite the righteous one.
But doesnt the depressed one try to make others feel guilty?
Oh, you do flatter me.But I like this tough trevor! He's like the tough kid on the streets. A real bad ass kid.

They are only fooling themselves.Up to your old tricks again I see. Bewitching and bewildering these poor humans,

Trevor,
For all you know, that was all just a big act back there.
The fool fails to discriminate from what is worth believing from what is not worth believing.
Again your foolishness comes out like the grass stains on those vain acid-washed jeans that the kids mother bought to his poor embarrassment and alienation from the cooler peers!
There are ways of detecting the fools. Rowden appears to be not one of them. But you seem to be. Its not worth knowing. However, I'll will treat people as they appear to me.
Exactly, you don’t know.
You are a fool for believing what you cannot know for sure.AM: So I am the man who over-rates what he has, in order to smother his guilt and even envy?

Can a man sin as a teenager, and not feel guilt about it when he becomes a man? Of course.Trevor: You were the one who used the word sin, and hence implied your own feelings of guilt.

I care about your doings too brother!Trevor: I care much more about what you intend to do.
I went fishing some time ago. I put bait on a hook, not only to feed the fish…..lolIt's obvious at this point you lied about your intentions. You aren't here to look for a teacher.

Is his belief that he can stand in judgment of all of us after 2-3 posts as a maximum not an indicator of an overinflated ego? It seems someone who actually had that wisdom would also be wise enough to not feel the need to engage people in such a way as Aaron has.Dan Rowden wrote:Well, in truth, we havn't seen enough substance from Aaron to know whether he's overinflated or not. Hopefully he'll respond to my questions rather than engage the responses that simply make him the centre of attention.

One can have a measure of discernment in such matters, and express accurate judgements thereby, and still have ego. But I agree he needs to start to provide more than Nietzschean poetry to be taken seriously. Hopefully he'll do that. But, well, if he doesn't, that's his prerogative too.
The question is, if what's he's saying hasn't hit a chord, why is he being taken so seriously?

Oh, sure, we all do that; I just did that. It's sorta a circle though, no? Have to break out of the circle before you can actually see what's going on in it for both yourself and others instead of pointing with 3 fingers pointing back?Dan Rowden wrote:One can have a measure of discernment in such matters, and express accurate judgements thereby, and still have ego. Well, in my case, I was upset over something else, and have a general distaste for not just saying what they mean. The two collided in a kinda ugly way. :(The question is, if what's he's saying hasn't hit a chord, why is he being taken so seriously?
He seems to have hit the "protective" button - we must protect Women from predatory men who will take advantage of them sexually - button for a few people...
