Carl, kidder of kidders, any poem that may come will come because y'all manage to get a little humbleness. You can't just call out 'Quick, Alex, a poem!' for no poem will be forthcoming under those circumstances. Rather, take a little time, go inward, and prepare the ground, as it were, for the poem, and lo and behold, a poem shall be delivered unto you.

You just can't predict, Carl, where the quicksilver will flow:

That speaks volumes, Tomas. Had it been thirty years ago, I wouldn't have understood that.

Alex and Carl - two shadows figures, in lieu of purple knife - talisman rooster foot - one to brush his teeth, one to pick. Though, both play a mean guitar. Pick or grin...

Carl, just a friendly question: What name do you give to the drama you present?

Would you mind if I pointed out that there is something really feminine and bitchy when you take things so seriously and just won't let up?

If the Apocalyptic Talking Fish from Brooklyn can't make headway with your problem, I'm not sure if I can help you through this. But I'll keep trying...

Why Men Marry Bitches.

I'll put it nicely for now: Carl, Are you firing on all cylinders?

I'm shocked, I'm hurt. All I ever try to do is spread a little stardust into some drab-assed lives here, and look at the lack of respect I get.

Really, Alex, a little loosening up might do you some good once in a while. And so I've prepared a little care package from me to you:

Hope it helps!

Merci beaucoup Monsieur Carl, petit malin!

It helped a great deal! I've given up acting like a bitchy girl on her period and from now on you'll only see me in the best of humor! I feel light and free...and masculine!

How can I begin to thank you?

Did you know there was once a Museum of Menstruation?

From India. Another

How about Ramana's advice you are a passenger on a train, which is going somewhere. Instead of keeping your load over your head, why not put it on the train and relax.

Shamanique: Devil Temptress!

Post by Alex Jacob »

Strangely, Carl, though you had no such intention, through turning around your negativity and 'refusing' to be debased to your level, the whole exchange turned into a really weird omen, and it reconnects me to the essential problem of 'woman' and femininity, but more specifically how women have been and are being 'captured' and manipulated by very powerful capital interests whose power and influence is so tremendous that they literally mold attitudes, ideas, behavior. There are two areas that fascinate: 1) the psychological workshops of 'Madison Avenue' under the tutelage of the likes of Edward Bernays (and many others) who have set in motion modern marketing, and 2) the specific social scientists who work on marketing to women, whose art we see in those video advertisements.

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. ...In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons...who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind."

---from Propaganda, by Edward Bernays

Consider this.

"There are strange things about the culture," he intoned. "The average IQ is 100 of the American public, did you know that?" Assuming I grasped what for him was obvious, Bernays then sketched a picture of the public relations expert as a member of the "intelligent few" who advises clients on how to "deal with the masses...just by applying psychology."

"As a member of that intellectual elite which guides the destiny of society, the PR "professional," Bernays explained, aims his craft at a general public which is essentially, and unreflectively, reactive. Working behind the scenes, out of public view, the public relations expert is "an applied social scientist," one educated to employ an understanding of "sociology, psychology, social psychology and economics" in order to influence and direct public attitudes. Throughout our conversation, Bernays conveyed his hallucination of democracy: a highly educated class of opinion-molding tacticians are continuously at work, analyzing the social terrain and adjusting the mental scenery from which the public mind, with its limited intellect, derives its opinions."

---from PR! A Social History of Spin by Stuart Ewen.

Here's a darker vision of his opus.

And did you know, Grumpy Girl, that there is a Museum of Public Relations?

Now, what would really be interesting---I haven't seen it yet---is a study of the molding of modern women through the PR industry, with a highlighted focus on the amoral (not specifically morally concerned) aspect of marketing interests. Marketing research merely asks women what they want and what they don't like, what they hope and what they fear, and designs ways to 'give her what she wants' as long as she buys something in the process.

Baby, where'd you get your body from?

Now, as to Tinkerbullshit, it is just too unweildy, and unimaginative! After thinking about it I felt that you really should have retaliated through feminizing my persona, just as I began to associate you with the female menstrual cycle, say by creating a whole new identity:

Shamanique: Shamanic Temptress and Mistress of the Night! "That devilish Shamanique is up to no good! Weaving webs of lie and distortion! Making the true appear false and the false appear true!"

I think you can do better...

I want to wear my pretty pink shoes!

Yes We Can!

(With French subtitles, for you mon cher).

Pure, Biblical, prophetic values in operation. This is social exodus. Now, if we take the sexual potency of Baby Where'd You Get Your Body From? and combine it with the social potency of the message in Yes We Can, what is going to stop the revolution now? (Interesting that in the above video, I heard two other languages, Hebrew: 'Kein annu yecholim' and Spanish: 'Si podemos').

(Tikkun olam is a Hebrew phrase that means 'repairing the world'.)

Someone's comment on the video on a forum:

"Two observations from this video:
1. Obama can't rap.
2. I very much want to bone Scarlett Johanssen."

Apparently you haven't ridden Amtrak a whole lot. Your bags can end up in Duluth, and they don't even have trains to Duluth.
