I'd define a saint as someone who doesn't have anything hidden from himself anymore. True transparency.unwise wrote:Sure, repent if it makes you feel better. You can live a very saintly life if you'd like. The same underlying subconscious will still be there, however.
Beyond good and bad means also beyond fun and boring.I emphasize living with 'bad habits' for many reasons. For one thing, many things considered 'bad' are not bad. They are neutral. We are here to have fun you know.
Only when one remains living in ignorance our main impulses remain dark and mysterious.Secondly, your drives, preferences, likes and dislikes are emanating from below your conscious control. It is better to accept oneself as is than to fight an unpopular urge such as homosexuality.
The quality or skill of your insight and reasoning, basically your capacity for honesty does depend on a lot of things, including the state and clarity, calmness, of your mind. The impulses that initially rule your body see no use for it and will keep on trying, through the further growth of ego and fantastic ideas, to protect itself from achieving true transparency which it perceives as too much suffering.[Ego] is constantly seeing oneself as a body and the consciousness inside your gourd. That's not where it is. And you are not in a body and you are not your ego. So who cares what your body wants to do?
