It's not good work if you show you're not paying attention and still keep up with those ad (g)lib answers!

So what is this instruction 'pay heed' which turns out to be, actually, an indictment inferring the commission of a crime.
An indictment you've charged many others with in a chain of earlier/similars.
Is this a master strategy for scalp-taking, a nice little peccadillo of yours.
Laying a guilt trip.

If you have a problem with such indictments, then why did you make one here?So what is this instruction 'pay heed' which turns out to be, actually, an indictment inferring the commission of a crime.

Re: Suffering Revisited
I do not think in terms of power play as you tend to do in your criticisms. Surely there's will & power at work in laying out a good argument and trashing an ignorant one. Power stands always in relation to relative purpose and meaning, which are the causal relations. And it's clear from all my conversations I nurture logical, reasonable and informed arguments with all participants. And also that I've little patience with what I think are derailing, confusing or destructive approaches. It's like pest control or the insistence of ventilating a crowded room. It's a matter of going for any purpose the exchange is having, to let it develop into something meaningful inside the context. This is the very thing you appear to be opposing because you have demonstrated not to understand fully the emptiness and meaninglessness you mention. Actually you've been using the word as a "thought-terminating cliché". For you philosophy seems a quick road to liberation and self-empowerment. The truth is that it's the quick road to suffering if done properly. But you never talk about it.Dennis Mahar wrote:So what is this instruction 'pay heed' which turns out to be, actually, an indictment inferring the commission of a crime.

It's empty and meaningless that it's empty and meaningless,
YOU provide the meaning.

How does one develop more patience, if not by nurturing logical, reasonable and informed arguments with all participants...even the ones you carefully select as being derailing, confusing or destructive ?Diebert van Rhijn wrote: I've little patience
It's easy to choose arguments less confusing, etc. But how would you ever develop patience if not for adversity ?
I guess being silent works too....if you are mindful of your own destructive thoughts in judging others, as not worthy of nurturing...

Yeah, like a blustering, judgmental Yahweh!
Really, in hindsight, I think Dennis has been telling us that he actually doesn't know how to measure up to these standards, but he wants to know; he wants to engage in kind with his own thinking and mind.

Re: Suffering Revisited
It is true, names and forms I've mentioned many times. However, what has changed in me over the past six months or so is the waking up to the difference between the names and forms of language houses and those of logical truths/causal relationships.Dennis Mahar wrote:Pam,How does the sound byte "house of languages, conceptual towers" help me to understand the metaphor you used? You gave me five words clumped together, no exposition, no reasoning, no context.
We live in 'language houses'.
I say that all along.
Names and forms you've mentioned many times.
You say you understand the teachings of the Buddha, but your clinging to the Story of Self - languaging - tells me otherwise. And whether you believe 'he' actually existed or not is irrelevant, the truth of no-self accredited to the man called Gautama the Buddha who was said to have lived thousands of years ago remains, in this moment of no-man-living-called-Gautama the Buddha, the truth of no-self. This is the liberating thing about truth, it stands alone, no belief in the existence of a truth teller is necessary for truth to be truth.
What right view of no self [versus wrong view of the possibility of a kind self, of a loving self, of a non-greedy self, of a self not preoccupied with survival] does is to open one up to the [impersonal] realm of the principles and patterns of causality, an opening up that gradually brings an end to the dukkha of the turning wheel of waiting for the 'next' appearance of 'possibility of being.'
There is no self, only causes and supporting conditions. True or not? And please, answer this question directly using reason, no more stories of Dennis disguised as the reality of Pam. :-)

Perhaps now you're ready to understand this great philosophical truth:
The social emancipation of the Jew is the emancipation of society from Judaism--KARL MARX

Actually, quite the opposite is true, as you've been told in so many ways already. It necessarily follows from what you proclaim like a god in his ivory tower here that there's plenty to get, and as you consistently demonstrate, you don't "get" any of it.Dennis Mahar wrote:You make it mean what it means.

If you took Diebert down the time-track of his earlier similars and his justifiers wouldn't you discover that his concern is something about Supply.
There's no 'I', there's human being and a problem about Supply.

Re: Suffering Revisited
Do you really think meaning magically occurs just because you give a word a capital letter, or are you expecting we lesser humans carry out the work necessary in clarifying for you the basis upon which you make such assertions with childish abandon? Is the tenor of that something about Supply?
Stop mangling the application of Scientology procedures and confusing it with philosophy. It’s just not.If you took Diebert down the time-track of his earlier similars and his justifiers wouldn't you discover that his concern is something about Supply.
Come again? There's no 'I', there's human being and a problem about Supply.

Apparently, you can't even ask a straight question, with a straight face!
What else would you like to know about Scientology?

And actually, I've just noticed that "enlightenment" occurs at Level 2 on the Bridge.
That's rather enlightening, what with you still being stuck on problems...!

Well, in making the point you're trying to make, it might be a rather sage-like thing to do to around town with a potty on your head, mimicking a monkey. Would you?
As it is, however, you're nothing more substantial than a piece of mindless circuitry.
