String Theory and the potential for cybernetic intelligence

Post by Caleb9849 »

I was just wondering if anyone thinks the continued research into String Theory could open up any gateways as to the possibility of true "artificial intelligence" via cybernetic systems. For example, observe the following extract from Wikipedia regarding Gauge-Gravity Duality:

"In certain cases the gauge theory on the D-branes is decoupled from the gravity living in the bulk; thus open strings attached to the D-branes are not interacting with closed strings. Such a situation is termed a decoupling limit."

Does anybody see any possibilities here as to the potential for further development in the field of artificial intelligence, and any way this connects to the hypothetical possibility of "emergence", the spontaneous development of awareness and consciousness by an artificial intelligence....as seen in certain Sci-Fi franchises such as Star Trek?

I believe the concept you are exploring is technological singularity, but I don't see how theoretical gravity relationships are related.

Hate to rain on this shit but you must understand material technology and where it is headed for our species in the near haul.

We may become obsolete as original beings but we seem to make one hell of a knock-off.http://vidmax.com/video/4520/Iranian_sp ... b_dancing/

In the scheme outlined by Dr Cleaver dark energy would be used to create the bubble: if dark energy can be made negative in front of the ship, then that patch of space would contract in response.
