I just added a third essay, which is the number commonly accepted as a "crowd".
Since my website is now officially crowded, it is worth displaying:

Re: Grains of Salt
Are you "Siluetta della Guida" ?
The humor is pretty funny (I liked the "I have a dreamcicle" quip - irreverent yet not serious enough to be insulting - good balance for humor); but I find the writings to have too large of leaps of logic in them to be useful as a map. The leaping logic suggests to me that you may be experiencing some mania, and I would like for you to start keeping a sleep journal again, and tell me how you are doing.

Re: Grains of Salt
Elizabeth, you are focusing on the wrong insanity.
Personally, I think it is completely insane that Americans have not banished George Bush from their borders for his crimes against humanity. Were he banished from the USA, there is literally no country on the planet that would harbour him. I can't think of any reason why not unless he is using his power to commit treason against the people.

Re: Grains of Salt
Dan: good point... hmmm...
Maybe I should separate this into "inspiring pictures (by other people)", "inspiring essays (by me)", and "inspiring aphorisms (also by me)"...
Tomas: it was in the joke ad-rotation at somethingawful.com and it made me swallow my tongue... if you can find a better one... :)
Ataraxia: there's only a bit to know of Thales before you fall in love with him:
1) he dedicated his life to proving that everything is made out of water.
2) when questioned why he was wasting his time, he turned to almanacs and predicted a good olive harvest, and he monopolized the olive presses, making a mint and pissing everyone off
3) he gave away all his money, claiming "I have better things to do with my time."
4) he spent the rest of his life proving that everything is made out of water.
(when someone took him seriously enough to try to disprove his theory, these two men invented formal philosophical dialogue)
