Thats just another MEME or inherited belief pattern.maestro wrote: it is the way the world is.
Re: Question for some geniuses on here:
Well all ideas are memes, nobody denies that. But it is not a false meme like God heaven hell etc. The point is that there is really no choice, you can live without working on welfare, but only in rich countries.

Thats another MEME, or inherited belief pattern. The reason I say this, there are instances of people that do initiate another choice.maestro wrote:The point is that there is really no choice
Re: Question for some geniuses on here:
Of course you can inherit wealth or win the lottery. Do you have any other suggestions.

Define in detail - Working for a living.

Re: Question for some geniuses on here:
Infinite,
I suppose you mean working for the man.
Well, basically, we all used to be tribal, and hunter-gatherers. They don't work that hard, they all pull together, there isn't a boss, no one fails alone so there's much more security, and they don't work for the man.
So you could join a tribe. One lifestyle that is essentially tribal in nature is the circus.
You could create a tribe.
Some people who feel the way you do go back to the land, after working and saving money. But that generally involves a fair amount of work, gardening, raising animals, hunting, and perhaps having something to sell.
Or maybe you could marry a nurse and be a househusband. I've noticed a strong tendency with nurses for them to marry beneath themselves, financially speaking.
Frankly, I'd give up suffrage if I could stay home. I think it was a rotten trade.

Re: Question for some geniuses on here:
I think what infinitethoughts is asking is how do other people do it? I believe he thinks he has seen or heard of other people who appear unchained somehow. A research scientist that keeps getting big grants to pursue what interests him. I want to be like that guy. A woman who gets to go on archeological digs. I want to be like her. Infinitethoughts, working for a living is not something you can neutralize. Doing what interest you and making a living at it is not a meme, whatever that idiotic term is supposed to convey. There's nothing wrong with ambition. Following your ambition makes you what you are. The way you follow it makes you who you are.

Re: Question for some geniuses on here:
Brokenhead, do you think everybody is able to have ambition, I mean one strong enough to get out of the chair and feasible enough to actually chase after without falling of the edge of the world? Can one grow ambition or is one born with it, grows into it somehow? What would be the decisive factor? And what about the fine lines between ambitions, compulsions and obsessions? Is there a certain temperament involved too? Or an ability to get totally into something?Brokenhead wrote:Doing what interest you and making a living at it is not a meme, whatever that idiotic term is supposed to convey. How to do that?
Well, that's the topic of this message board, sharing insights into this rather involving process. It normally starts by re-evaluation of all present values.

Re: Question for some geniuses on here:
Infinitethoughts,
So you basically have three choices as far as survival is concerned:
1. you either serve humanity through labor as a means to be served back through labor.
2. or you become a parasite in some way, IE: welfare, other forms of criminal behavior.
3. Or you were lucky, and born wealthy.
Brokenhead,
It is a present reality though. If a belief reflects the way things are then it is true. The fact is that to be given labour and services requires that you give labor and services in return unless you are some sort of parasite, or if you are born wealthy.Thats just another MEME or inherited belief pattern.

Well, options (1) and (3) are probably not viable then? What if you have no ambition?
Brokenhead,
And many humans invested time in working a job that they weren’t all that interested in as a means to eventually be in a more desirable position.I think what infinitethoughts is asking is how do other people do it? Re: Question for some geniuses on here:
One day I was on my job site and was approached by a group of 7-9 young males all late teens to early 20's and was asked : "So this is your job huh?"
The striking thing about that moment was that they were all extremely well dressed and immaculately groomed.
I at first had some idea they were in the area for personal pleasure based on the appearance of the situation and thought nothing of saying yes it is.
At that moment their was a distinct tone of amusement for all those boys that I was standing there in a "uniform" doing what I got paid to do.
I happened to have a piece of literature bulging out of one of my pockets and one of the guys asked "Is that what you do in your spare time?" with a bit of a grin.
All I could do in return upon recognizing the situation my "job" had put me in was to acknowledge that yes I do that often in my line of work.
That seemed to satisfy their passing curiosity and I walked away obviously aware that I had just been probed by individuals who quite frankly have rarely worked a commoners job in their lives.
The feelings I bothered to note after the encounter were those of ever so slight disbelief but then again I know full well that their are those in certain countries who flat out do not engage in employment the way your average person would.
No pofound lesson was learned other than those who are associated with money making ventures including their offspring may have an outlook on life that while not extreme in difference can cause small disconnects in what it takes for the average person to get by in life.
