All the problems with one person can be wiped away only if you make him feel good and believe you really care.
This can be mostly accomplish with the first one well planned meeting just a few right words and a minute of time, then one or two more quick confirming interaction next days so he not think was a fluke, you are for real. If use your brain then can win people over easily. Read some books.
You make sound like huge insurmountal problem, is not! Look how many popular people are loved not despised by less great followers who know they inferior but dont matter one bit.
If you say you to different to win people I say not your values the problem but your social or communication skill. If you not making scenes anymore should be very possible to stop people feeling bad with you, i mean new people especial them.
Have confidence in your self man! Is this possible problem.
Always will be a few hate you no matter what you do. Change your life to never see them.

Did you say WHY- what you do to make these feel inferior in first place? Did you walk around in begining braging "Im genius!" ?

Did you say how you can spot when they feel inferior? What they do- drop their heads? -Call you egomaniac?
How can you tell for sure? in past.......
Easy to confuse "feeling inferior" with just "dislike you", not true?

You tall attractive young man? So what, people in America seem to like very much tall attractive young men, especially the girls do.

Do you work as model for wages? What is your job.

Hope I read you right. and help also.

Rhett,
I don't know you or remember if we have conversed, but I've just read this thread and really enjoyed it.
"I relate," if you know what I mean.
So I picked one of your quotes and say "Right on!"
I think it's only that people find the truth and a sharp mind "aggressive and pushy". Most people have a combatative element underlying every interaction, and interacting with someone radically more aware than themself makes them feel vulnerable and inferior, and they may react.
Yes, they have... the history of my interaction here. I have the same "situation" in public, as I am a "large" and charismatic presence (with an overflowing love of life and realization that we are all one family) and with very long white hair and beard. I naturally inspire folks to wonder who I am. I do not disappoint. I tell the Truth. Most folks are thirsty for the Truth, but not all. Some are "self image challenged" (the inferiority complex of which you speak.)

Bottom line... If you still have a 'strategy' around all this, you are still in ego-programed consciousness. If not, there is no problem. The Universe is living locally through you without egocentric obstacles and "narcissistic" obstructions.

But this Truth is hard to hear... for all egocentrics. No guess what percentage that is, but awakened ones are, beyond debate, still very rare... very temporarily! I'm fairly sure the founders here are still very much mired in ego. Check their history of replies to me and avoidance of replies!

There is a saying that "actions speak louder than words", and it's often true. It doesn't matter how friendly what i say to them is, i am not working for money, i am single, and worse, i don't have a low opinion of myself or emotional problems because of this. These are a direct hit on their dearest attachments. We have diametrically opposite opinions of each other. They know inside that they are misguided, but they are too weak to admit it to themselves or think about it.

Always will be a few hate you no matter what you do. Change your life to never see them.
Yes, distance is very important, unfortunately that's closed off a fair number of people and services.

Did you say WHY- what you do to make these feel inferior in first place? Did you walk around in begining braging "Im genius!" ?
No, no bragging, but i didn't want to tell lies or misrepresent myself to any significant extent either. These can cause complex problems. And if people treat you like you're something lower than you are, it's a lot of work to not let that seep into you and drag you down. They tried to make me think very lowly of myself, and i fought against that in subtle ways. They were the imposters in that regard. My not engaging very much with the townfolk or selecting one of the many women on offer, and probably other choices, would have made them feel inferior, but there's not much i can do about that without turning myself inside out.

Did you say how you can spot when they feel inferior? What they do- drop their heads? -Call you egomaniac?
How can you tell for sure? in past.......

In any situation there can be a number of things going on. If someone suffers in your presence and is making an attack or attacks against you, trying to render you lesser than what you are, that is a sign they could have an inferiority complex. It's the nature of the attack(s) that tells most of the story. If someone just dislikes you, your presence won't make them suffer as much, and they won't try to drag you down as much or at all.

You tall attractive young man? So what, people in America seem to like very much tall attractive young men, especially the girls do.
Yes, i can easily be their champion if i adopt their values, but it's just not in me to do that. People can poke hot iron rods into my flesh but i would still rather be the way i am rather than an unconscious deluded animal.

Do you work as model for wages? What is your job.
It's been suggested by a number of people i do modelling, but it's kind of not very aligned with my values. I could do so many jobs i am spoilt for choice, but people have a habit of getting in the way and causing problems, and it impinges heavily on my thinking and writing time.

Rhett,

A thought or two on the 'inferiority complex' idea.

My view on how to communicate with most people goes something like this. Most people are not interested in thinking for themselves. They won't think while they're exhausted from working to support a family. And they won't stop working while that's the only way to get sex for free (this is the main bribe). And they won't give up sex unless they've developed a strong individual streak in youth, along with a remoteness about sexuality. So it is absolutely pointless to deal with the animal type. It's just cruel to them and a waste of one's time.

I'm interested in helping wisdom to survive, so I try to ignore most people. I try to focus on the engine room: people who have respect for reason. I haven't met many, but I'm trying to find them, and to do my best by them. It's a challenge to try to get those living minds to grow, and to be as wise as I can for them. Younger people, who haven't built up strong delusional habits. It's much faster to go electronically. Those who don't wish to use the internet, are often only wanting to bond emotionally, or aren't open-minded about their views; also, more thinking is done in writing, than in a face-to-face situation.

I'd like the human species not to be the way it is; but when the wealth and power is in the hands of the masses of fools, my hands are pretty tied. All I can do is be as wise as I can, and then try to make the thinking culture stronger. It all grows; thinkers come into being slowly.

At present, I contribute to internet fora, blogs, and two philosophical discussion groups in town. The reasoner's library also gets quite a few hits, even while it is a long way from being finished. Next year, I'd like to make some films for the freethinkers.tv internet channel, such as interviews with simpler, more logical approaches to atheism, and discussions of the psychology of the sexes. I think these sorts of things will help to grow thinking.

Even for those who like thinking, they still suffer from anxiety. There are plenty of ways to entice them out of the way of the ego, instead of pointing to what they currently are.

I met someone not far out of town that had a significant amount of consciousness. He asked me questions about wisdom and i answered them, but i could see that at 48 he was too old, and of course there were other factors as well. I decided to discourage him as he wasn't handling it too well, and tried for just a normal friendship. But too much had already been said and he kept spiralling, and eventually he blew up, attacking me with a rapid fire of false accusations including false versions of events. Relationship over.

I also met a 33 year old girl that was mostly living alone and reading books on philosophy. She was writing too but didn't give it any credence. She was taking drugs for depression and was overweight, and her house was chaos. She wanted to chat and have sex, but i couldn't see a future for her with authentic philosophy, i just couldn't see where it could go and be better for her than her other option of fully pairing with her drug taking partner and having a family life. If she was five years younger i might have made a different choice, but even then, i don't know.

Unless someone has capacity to go all the way, and i mean all the way, i'm not sure i should talk to them in person. It seems i am potent in person, i think conviction counts for a lot, as well as other factors, so even with a good student i figure i would have to be ready to use a handbrake approach, involving careful metering of time spent together.

I think i will never forget the days i met a late teens good student, that i never managed to connect to theabsolute. Maybe a lost life, maybe not. Cross my fingers he turns up here one day.

Since you grew up in rural areas you might have a decent handle on local politics and discretion, or is the town large enough for anonymity?

You need not know anything more about local politics and discretion than you do about humans and unconsciousness. It seems clear to me that you need to understand a bit more about that than you presently do.
They feel like you're standing over them, so they are likely to try to stand over you, in which case you really ought to counter it.
Of course you do. But you can’t lump everybody into the same unconscious boat---that makes the problem so general it can never be managed.

There will be only a few who are actively making trouble for you. Find them and deal with them directly. You might discover at least one of those few is so bitter that you will be faced with a potentially violent situation. I was (it took a couple of years). And, since moving was neither practical nor desirable for me personally, the superior choice was to deal with it.

That’s the extent of your problem.

Seriously, I don't ever consider whether other people feel inferior.
Maybe you do, but you're not conscious of it; just like your story about how you reacted to a snake in your path before your conscious mind had realized what was going on.

I grew up in a large city and worked in small situations that about 75% of the time didn't have much politics. I had a disinclination towards it because my nature is highly constructive and reasonable and open.

I haven't said anywhere or intentionally implied that i lump everybody into this same boat. I don't. There are mild reverer's as well, and other types.

I think you're right here. They are very sneaky. One of the main troublemakers actually helped me out with an unrelated offer some time prior, then arose again appearing helpful, and was nice and talkative, but made a few very subtle comments that in reflection effectively stated that she wants me out of here. Plus her husband made some interesting moves and wouldn't look me in the eye, his hate is not much under the surface. Many would not have seen the underlying meaning of her comments, at least, those unfamiliar with the local culture.

I figure she underestimated me because if she hadn't said as much she would have had more opportunity to do me over. I made a counter to that that should have cut deeply at her reputation and control, and will see what transpires. She or someone else has made another counter, there is now a contrived 'fact' going around that i have a troubled history with the police, which may be very unhelpful towards me getting a tenant for the other side of my duplex which is currently vacant. I always knew there would be a vulnerability there.

As for confronting her or the association directly, they aren't at the top of the power pyramid, but they are nevertheless well connected and able to do a lot of damage. Confronting them with unprovable allegations, or putting subtle questions, or simply asserting they 'back off', or the like, i'm not sure. I wouldn't want to inform them any more of my thinking without being confident it's worth it. At the moment i don't mind the drawbridge approach because i've done something and they can't be sure about what i might do next. My situation of course is heavily weakened being new to the area and having no real political base.

I should also note that I live in a small country town, so it's less likely that saying hello to someone will get you shot.

I live in Launceston presently, the third biggest city in Tasmania. It's a big country town. Hobart would be a better choice, but I've a few things to complete here. From my experience of how people go about their lives here, the politics - the values - are mediocre; it is all about animal values, as it is in most other places.

The philosophical discussions in town are superficial. A few people show promise occasionally, and a few real young people turn up now and then. The only reason I go is to promote an internet forum, which is coming along.

What I would like to do is help the local president of the theosophy society, who lives up the road from me, to get his hands dirty and start to do some thinking. He tends to dominate the philosophical discussions, and turns them into mush. He has just enough power of reasoning to do that. We have discussions about once a month at each other's homes, but the last one didn't go so well. He accused me of claiming to be God, and I said he read too many books!

The town is big enough to allow people room to ignore eccentrics if they wish, or the room to get to know them. There is an interesting thing at the library, where one can 'borrow' an eccentric person to 'read'. Last week I read someone with Tourette's. I might offer myself as a book. It's only once a fortnight, which is enough for me.

I've started a weekly cafe discussion group at the local hippie cafe, but so far no one has turned up.

I guess if I had more money it would help in advertising.

Rhett, a non-hawaiian friend of mine moved to the very hawaii island of Molokai. When he left for work someone would sneak into his house and leave a crap in his toilet. He couldn't figure out how they were getting in. Day after day a crap was left for him, and he was very uncomfortable about it. He certainly couldn't call the Molokai police, so he left a note on the inside of the toilet lid saying he'd be moving off the island within the month. After that no more craps were left. He moved and vows never to go back.

A few things that have helped me in the socailizing department: If you don't feel like talking, don't. You can't force a conversation and expect it to go well. If you're in a more talkative mood, change the subject a lot. Most people don't stay on one thing for more than a few sentences. Flirt with the women. They will protect and feed you.
