The path to enlightenment... Genius prowess? or not..

Post by Think »

As most of us already know, any standardized iq test would put us in the "gifted" category. we grew up with role models, exceptional teachers and an open door to this "path of enlightenment". But is this a path that we put ourselves on?, or perhaps our intelligence led, if not forced us on to this path...?

Recently, i had moved and attended a new school, not one of gifted people, but of people studying and pushing themselves around me, i find myself not surprised, as i breeze through everything with an exceptional GPA, without even trying. Sometimes, i try to study, and i absorb the knowledge easily, and use it effectively when needed.

I cant comprehend not being able to, well, comprehend everything. i just contradicted myself there, but most of us understand what i mean anyway.

anyway, to the point, i have a few gifted friends, who, along with myself, never really try at anything but excel at (almost) everything. And i wonder, have we pushed ourselves at some point in our lives, to get to where we are? Or just possesing this knowledge led us here, on this "path of Enlightenment'?

Gifted or not gifted, genius is genius. A genius is someone who is thought of as possessing both exuberant intellect and a natural understanding for the world around them, approaching the world with both a naive outlook on life and the ability to think in new ways and be inexplicably creative about anything they choose to do. Whether it be the creative aspect, or the intelligent aspect, or a greater balance of both, one has the choice to explore both to be an artist of sorts or a person of knowledge and understanding of the numbers and the various fields of science. The choice is well understood from childhood in most cases. However said, any one person has the abilities to break the confounds of their own mind and the understanding that they might currently posses. In that sense anyone is capable of genius, but in the case of what a genius is considered, it is a natural trait.

Hey, genius. Punctuation? Syntax? Capitalization standards? I'm not trying to "bias" you or anything, but the first-person singular pronoun should be capitalized. Dude (or Dudette), you are misspelling a one letter word. I would like to read your posts, but that is just so irritating. Pretty please...???

Hey broke,
I thot (sic) you were above this pedantic level of grammar 'n spellin' (school marm whacking knucles with a ruler) kind of criticism.
You know I'm a 'big offender' in this realm, so this is a call for focus on substantial intellectual/intuitive content rather than the pettiness of your criticism.

Hey, maybe s/he was consciously dissing the capital reality of 'self' as a separate reality. i could do the same, speaking as an individual entity and only capitalize "I" when speaking as this local manifestation of God.
Oopse! i know identity as God rankles you, as you still worship 'Him" as all good Christians do... the Father in heaven, creator of us poor sinners. (Or is the latter an overstated misconception about you....
Correct me if i'm wrong.)

this isnt an iq genius kind of board anyway. many times i've left the capitalization of of the pronoun i either for the conscious reason suggested above, or just because i didn't feel like it, or i was trying to save a little time by avoiding the shift key, or a number of other reasons.

Hey, Think - click the link in the above banner marked "Quotes" to get the drift of what "genius" means on this board. It's kind of a funky definition. Actually, you'll find there are a number of unusual definitions here. You'll never guess what a woman is...

I'm still not quite sure, and I've been here for years. So I guess "never" is apt.

Most anyone, no matter how smart, when confronted with the possibility of having enlightenment, is greedy enough to want it. It's a pretty good practical joke, no?
A mindful man needs few words.
