What Makes You a Loser?

"I think therefore I am" Voltaire

Many people come to a stage in their life when they think they are a loser. It's because they set the goal to far for them to reach it. They couldn't reach it because they had doubt, paralysing doubt which literally became their obstacle. Doubt that lacked expectation from self, the kind that gets you nothing because you didn't expect it for yourself.

What Makes You a Winner?

"I think therefore I am"

Why would a perfectly good piece of writing get deleted? Hmmmm, does this article hit home base with you? Discovery of logic is always the best answer!

"I think therefor I am" was Rene Descartes. "Je pense donc je suis," originally.

“Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.” - Voltaire

"Everything happens through immutable laws, ...everything is necessary... There are, some persons say, some events which are necessary and others which are not. It would be very comic that one part of the world was arranged, and the other were not; that one part of what happens had to happen and that another part of what happens did not have to happen. If one looks closely at it, one sees that the doctrine contrary to that of destiny is absurd; but there are many people destined to reason badly; others not to reason at all others to persecute those who reason."

If so, then the other Voltaire quote appears to make little sense:
“Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.” - Voltaire
Shouldn't this more accurately state, "Each player is caused to either accept or not accept the cards life deals him or her, and once they are in hand alone will be caused to decide how to play the cards, in order to either win the game, or to lose it."

I think the latter quote I posted is on metaphysics, so the grammatical context is different. I don't think Voltaire is being inconsistent, he is just commenting at once on the nature of the "game" analog and at another on the choice element of the game. Not to say that I necessarily agree with everything Voltaire has to say. My intention was to give the OP the origin of his quote and by contrast quotes by Voltaire.
