Re: Belief vs knowledge
Ryan, how about this?
Flatulence, fore and aft,
is all I expect from a Talking Ass™.
It has word-play elements as well as linking what comes out the mouth with what comes out the other end of the equation. It rhymes too, but not too strictly.

How about this one?
"If humanity was strictly as dumb as donkeys, we'd be a lot safer - the real problem is that we have a donkey brain controlling the higher evolved neocortex, which is capable of all sorts of larger scale mischief"

Re: Belief vs knowledge
To believe and To know...
It is my understanding that belief differs from knowing in more than one way. If the cat believed there where mice, the act of seeing or observing the presence of mice would change the context. The cat would then Know there are mice. Belief systems reside on the fact an absence of a material or object, physically spiritually or phsycologically, still exists due to a dedication of the knowledge that it exists (wether it does or not exist is irrelevant or unrelated.)
I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes, Just had a beer. I dont normally drink alcohol so it hits me head on, hehe. I make no sense when I'm "sober" anyway.

Re: Belief vs knowledge
For me, the answer seems clear. We can not perfectly relate religion to a cats hunting instincts... So, I believe the cat is sure that there are mice. Not just mice prey in general. It was born with hunting instincts and a major part of it's life would be finding food. Also, it would eventually find a mouse (I am not sure of the intelligence of cats, but assuming) and then know that they are real. In terms of religion, it gets much more complicated. Because we humans are complicated life forms, we wonder much beyond the ability of a cat. We rely on stories and crazy assumptions (that may be true) to explain our existion. All a cat knows is it's instincts which are based on nature as evolution proves. Its instincts are based on the changing nature and complete fact. Lucky for them, they get it much less complicated than humans...Talking Ass wrote:Does the cat believe there are mice, or does he know there are mice?
