The Story,

escape from Alcatraz.
that's what you are saying isn't it?
the project?

Re: Crucifixion

It was no different for the recorded story of Jesus who cried out on the cross "it is finished." How did he know? :-)Yes that is exactly what I meant. Death seems to be the ultimate detachment. But how do we know we don't simply return? How did the Buddha know?
I cannot answer these question for you, but I will offer a truth I have discovered for your reasoning is that any thought that begins with "I think" or involves words of doubt such as "seems" is a conditioned/conditional thought. Can the infinite be the infinite with conditions present? It seems unlikely to me that after what I'm assuming is infinite existence before this sensual life, that I have reached the end of it now. The end of these repeated rebirths.
I think I will be seeing forever, progression or what might be called a higher existence would simply be to witness higher divinity, greater thoughts, greater understanding, greater consciousness.
I have also discerned that since we seem to be a minds eye gazing into the creations of consciousness, and have no hand in forming them... that the underlying consciousness can also see through our minds eyes or souls.
Manifesting experiences without experiencing them hardly seems plausible.
We are not children of, but one with.

Re: Crucifixion
I agree with Dan speak in sentences Dennis.
Moving always
No not conditions, but there is a truth and a not truth. I cannot answer either, that is why "I think" or it "seems". Assumptions are very significant.
For example, if we were to assume say that this was our only existence and nothing came after, that would be very important to the way I lived my life.
If I wasn't to make that assumption, that would also be very important to the way I lived my life.
The ultimate question of the philosopher should be to discern what we should be doing, what questions we should be asking, what paths we should be taking ( even if that path is to chill out and not take any paths)
To discern this, we would first have to make assumptions.
So Movingalways, what have you assumed? About our existence, about after "death", and about what ought to be done for beneficial progression. These assumptions have to be made, even if only for a time, otherwise we are standing still.

Re: Crucifixion
Seeker, one does not have to assume or reason that the infinite or life or God is. This is a self-evident truth. That the infinite or life or God is not dependent upon your thoughts or my thoughts to be the infinite or life or God is a self-evident truth. When these things are realized to be self-evident in your mind [reasoning may have to be used to 'see' these self-evident truths] you will cease needing assumptions.

"I am is true. All else is inference."
- Sri Nisargadatta
"You will cease needing assumptions."

Both are "true" statements.
To logically drop the paradox of inference without assumptions, then "I am" must encompass the paradox. It must encompass "You."

Re: Crucifixion
The self evident truths are.
I exist.
existence exists.
To say those things requires existence.
God isn't self evident strictly speaking.
Nisagadarta actually says focus exclusively on 'I am' and then get rid of it.
I am is a gateway.
go beyond it.
I am is the trouble.
It's a thought/feeling.
You are prior to consciousness.
Will you go back and read him with comprehension please.
The Buddha also indicates consciousness lacks inherent existence.

John,
If you were an iPhone,
God would be an attachment, a plug-in, an app,
You would have to get it off the Market,
it costs a lot.
It depends on you being an iPhone.
If you were an iPhone,
Not-God would be an attachment, a plug-in, an app,
You would have to get it off the Market,
It costs a lot.

Re: Crucifixion
movingalways I wasn't referring to making assumptions about the obviousness of eternity ( as death is nothing more than a sensual experience) and an underlying source ( as we are witnessing manifestations of the unknown). I don't need convincing in this don't worry, it's clear, that's also the reason I posted that anti atheism thread and tried to show how the (mystical) fact that the universe exists only in sensual experience, makes obvious the requirement for a source/creator/designer/manifestor of these sensual experiences, ( a source which we are part of, part of the minds eye to be exact)
What I was referring to were the assumptions made about what occurs after this life.... whether it be a continuation of rebirth, a breaking from this existence due to detachment, an entering into a higher form of existence or awareness... These things, and how each is brought about, are not self-evident and do require assumptions, if one is to pick the most suitable path. I could not say I know the answer to these questions, and I assume the same for everyone else.
This is a very simple thought, but seems to be important to me..
If we all were to enter the realm of nothing within us, and clear our minds, empty them, block off our senes, it is evident that we would all be experiencing the exact same thing. We witness different manifestations, and these make up what we think of as our individual consciousness, but in the realm of nothing, when the senses are blocked, you, me, cahoot, dennis... there is nothing that distinguishes us, nothing that separates us, and the oneness is obvious. This makes clear the illusion of a self, that the only difference between existing as something and existing as void are the feelings... if there is no sensation, then no experience of reality, no corresponding consciousness... this outlines also clearly the process of becoming the feelings ( as opposed to experiencing them)

Dennis
At least I understood you this time.
Yes... but you mistake what I believe to be God... my own existence is enough direct insight into what I call God to know that it is, so I do not need to get rid of this app, and it is not a concept that is holding me back from a clear grasping of reality, it is more a name for my grasping of reality, a label of communication, a word other than saying "It", like the tao.

Your experience is human nature.
It's just the way it turned out.
If you don't like the way it turned out,
stiff.

Re: Crucifixion
When did I say I didn't like it?
And why were you questioning me in my belief in "God", or saying that holding such a concept is an attachment, it is less a concept rather than something I am seeing, do you not see the divine nature of everything?
Yes, it's accepted, I remember two points from something in ancient Sanskrit that was handed down, can't remember where
They went something along the lines of:
"You will be given a body experience"
"Lessons will be repeated to you until you learn them"
Really liked the second one.
What jobs have you had? Or important things you can remember from life? Also what things have you written or made?

I said I am often bored and hence want to do things like progress in wisdom or make a group.
Yes, honestly, I probably could.....
But only if I had access to a hive mind, which you seem hell bent on not being part of.
Did I not tell you we had god minds? You know you are seeing its incredible capability at every moment yet still ignore the potential?...One is asking you to join a god mind hive...
You know you should listen to whats shown to you by now. It ain't me asking.
