Genius, a Prophet?

Post by ken »

A renaissance genius is a genius of a renaissance. So, could they be considered a prophet, because they could explain their renaissance age to come. If a genius can be understood as a prophet, we could cross reference that understand to all philosophies and religions, both. Was or is Mohammad a prophet?

It's possible that Mohammad was a genius/prophet. But it's hard to know how wise he was based on the available evidence.

Also, I should add, that "Renaissance geniuses" don't necessarily know anything about ultimate truths, ie "God", Ultimate Reality, etc, and if they don't, then they are very limited in their genius.

Kevin,
A genius is understood as a genius / prophet through the philosophy of aesthetics. A renaissance genius will be the genius of aesthetics and back it up with another discipline. The genius' renaissance is understood as time of greater integration and intelligence, which I see this world in bad need of. This is real basic stuff. Let me know if you agree with it.

Every intelligent person is gifted with some type of long range vision, so you must distinguish between one who is prophetic and a prophet. Prophets like Jesus and Mohammet claim a higher authority, and who am I to argue with that. There is no question that Jesus and Mohammet were intelligent people. There is little doubt that they saw their world in very stark colors. There seems little reason to doubt that their vision improved the vision of all of mankind, and united more people than it divided.
The question is, have we seen the last of the religious prophets? The Jews made a deliberate attempt to discourage prophets. That reference to an injury in the home of my friends and the pierced hands. And when you understand a man like Abraham Lincoln, a prophet in his own right using this expression to tame a wrong, then the reference of Jesus to a prophet being without honor in his own home also becomes clear. There is room in this world for a prophet to bring resolution to the three branchs of Judaism, but don't look at me; I ain't that tippy.

I don't se any relationship whatever between Genius and aesthetics, but "genius" is ultimately just a term and can be defined any way we want. I'm not interested in art, music or aesthetic considerations so I'm not interested in your kind of "genius".

Also, your website doesn't seem to contain anything, Ken.

what hole in the ground did you come out of? Jesus said if you don't have ears, you won't hear. It's not my problem you can't hear or think or do. I had the ears and I heard and I did and now I have knowledge, based on applying and experiencing and accomplishing.

Tell me about yourself, relative to you and your genius. When it comes to the philosophy of aesthetics, the genius I refer my knowledge to is myself. I got that going for me, which is nice.

I don't take it personal that you don't agree with me. You're not the first or last. I understand that my message will only appeal to only a few, who have the combination of aptitude and discipline.

Hey, if you feel you have accomplished any thing in your life, tell me about it. If not, I've wasted my time responding to some idiot with a stupid ass reply.

Your words don't seem to mean anything, Ken; they appear empty, much like your website.

How genius is defined and employed and pursued hereabouts is explained in the board's welcome message. Beyond that, try browsing my website:

Genius News

And what knowledge is it you have? Knowledge of what, exactly?

I regard Nietzsche as a bone headed. Maybe he was a prophet of bone heads?

I think Nietzsche foresaw what was likely to happen to Germany (war mongering) and in a more general sense to society as it became more civilised.

Only a bone head would consider Nietzsche a bone head. As far as I am concerned it is your lack of understanding, rather than his words. Mind you he did crap on a bit at times about matters of little importance, but so has every other great thinker.

You know, I will be happy to do this on another thread; but if we were to talk only about one thing: Nobility, how do you think his words would be heard by a noble people like the Germans even after centuries of being reduced to serfs on the land their forefathers conquered? Do you believe Americans think of themselves as less free because they are born into debt, live in debt, and die in debt; or because their political system is perverted and corrupted beyond any ability to help them, and can only oppress them? Start a thread on this subject telling me how good Nietsche was, and I'll start pulling bricks from his edifice.

Dan Rowden,
The knowledge of what a genius actually is, to answer your question. It takes a genius to know what a genius is. If you're not a genius, your knowledge is relatively incomplete, in comparison to the genius'. I can explain what a genius is, based on the fact I know that knowledge, relative to the renaissance, that I'm the genius of, and I can relate all of that to basic things like art history, and show why we have had art and it's meaning. I can go on, but let me know if I've answered your question at all, or what I'm saying is still foreign.

Sorry, I don't have anything to add to that. I don't even have a question. I just think that sentance should be repeated aloud, over and over, until the Great Old Ones arise from their slumber, and the very fabric of time and space itself begins to shred.

Ken,

By all means explain what genius is relative to art, history and the
renaissance.

It is foreign to me as I've always considered "genius" as having relation to what is ultimately true of Reality.
