I can't bring myself to focus on slavedom too much today. I'm too busy celebrating the outcome of the Supreme Court case, District of Columbia v. Heller.

A small victory, perhaps, but significant nonetheless.

I didn't write that. Sue did. As for being unwilling and still a slave, well, I'd say that on some level you must be still willing.

First, as the overwhelming majority of circuit decisions conclude, the text and history of the Second Amendment establish that it protects weapons possession and use only in connection with service in state-regulated militias.
Well, that is a fucking lie.

Exactly. Even though a man knows he would enjoy doing other things with his life, he willingly enslaves himself to the rat-race in order to afford a wife and a family. He persuades himself that life with them is far superior than any other life. But every now and then he remembers the ambitions and dreams he had before he married, and before the mortgage meant he was locked into having a job - as in the story below.

Quite a while back, I caught up with an old school friend who was married with three children under seven years old. I was with them for one week, and during that time I had a few conversations with her husband. He was in his early thirties, had a well paying career in an engineering firm, and adored his wife and children.

During one conversation he told me that though he and his wife were happy, and he had a challenging and mostly rewarding career, he desired time to reexamine his past ideas and dreams. He thought if he were able to have a few months all to himself to consider his life, he'd be better able to shape it in a more fulfilling way.

He decided to approach his wife with his idea. He began by reassuring her that his feelings for her and the children had not changed at all, and that his plan wouldn't greatly affect them financially. She listened quietly, and then responded calmly that it was an impossible idea because he was needed at home. And when he suggested that it could be a good idea for her to also have some time away from the family. She replied that he wouldn't be able to cope by himself.

He must have re-buried his idea, for he went off to work the next day as usual.

This "old school friend" is gracious enough to put you up for a week, and how do you respond? You start making trouble by filling her husband's head with your nonsense. You just can't help it. You always have to be right. Even if it means disrupting an otherwise happy family.

They found that the 2nd Amendment should be read in the obvious way, that the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed refers to a right an individual has, just like the rest of the Bill of Rights, so yeah, you can have a gun, and a complete ban on guns is unconstitutional.

That it took the highest court in the land to figure that out, and then the decision was only 5-4, kind of blows my mind.

A free man has the right to defend himself. A slave does not.

I was visiting at their request.

At that time I'd recently sent my daughter to live with relatives so that I could spend time considering my future. My friend's husband knew of my action; later confiding that he found the idea equally inspiring and frightening. Privately he spoke to me about his own desire to have time to consider his life. He described how the desire to freely explore his thoughts had been simmering in him for some time. My being there prompted him to speak to his wife about it. But I had no part in their discussion.

It was no surprise to me that he didn't push the issue. He was well and truly reliant on his family - so much so, that I believe a separation from them, even for a short period, would have devastated him.

Knowing this about him, the real reason he wanted time out was because he was feeling bored. It was enough for him to shake his wife up a bit. It made him feel in some way less trapped - less the slave.

Oh, good. You know, the idea that it refers to the right of a well regulated militia to bear arms is pretty silly on the face of it. If it did mean that, then we would be going to all the trouble to have a constitutional right for our army to be, well, armed.

Has anyone ever considered having an army that does not have weapons?

People say the wording is ambiguous, but it isn't.

I responded:
Dear Ms. Logic,
I welcome sincere questioning. What part my posts above do you consider "fantasy," and based on what information about the actual reality of the situation?
Doesn't a rational criticism require some actual information to expose the lie of the fantasy and bring forth the Truth of the matter, if this is the "resonsibility" you take on in this situation?

Bump.
So put up or shut up, little ms. hate monger.
Or can I take your silence as having shut up, due to your hateful rhetoric about my "fantasy" world having no information to back it up.
Seems I have the advantage here in the realm of actual information on my world. Go figure.
Then again, maybe your are gone from the forum for days at a time like me and will come back with an ironclad logical defense of your... ah... "position." (I've not made a study of your frequency here.)

Your little drama would be funny if it weren't so pathetic. I wonder if Diebert and Sue depend on idiots like you to buffer the challenge as if your abvious hate mongering tripe-as-melodrama gives their more serious hate mongering more space to avoid the actual challenge of my prvious posts. (A buffer between my challenge and their replies.)

The challenge stands.
Your post, and all your pathetically dramatic posts are unworthy of serious response, and I'm sure everyone knows it but you... which only compounds the pathos.
You are very sick, but those not seeking help will not find it. Just looking for more targets to shoot at ... with impotent blanks...
Poor mik is, in your sick mind, just another rat to kill with your viper venom. You don't even leave room for compassion. You are a self made demon beyond hope of help.

BTW, for the record, in actual fact, the average of my SBIC and WAIS scores was 174... 170 on the former and 178 on the latter. (Somehow an error repeated enough... "170"... starts to sound like established fact... you know... like in science.)
Then there was the specially calibrated test in which I scored "way higher" than above. Not "standardized" but closer to the one in a million than the one in 600,000 that 174 places me in the "rarity of occurrance" tables. So the institute told me after the same test was administered to all in the range of top one in a half million to one in a million of rarity of occurrance of IQ scores. (Radical honest burns, huh!)
(Wiki: " Because so few people score in the extreme ranges, IQ tests usually cannot accurately measure very low and very high IQs.")

Again, the reason I go into such detail is to rub more salt into your wounds. "Trial by fire" is an ancient method of egoic purification... not that you are open to it, as already stated, but I offer it anyway, just because that is my inspiration in this moment. (Not to be "rude" of course. Honesty is too often considered rude by those hard-wired into their ego defense mechanisms.

Your pathos is not my problem. But I can still hope for a miracle, and offer the above as a catalyst... in vain, no doubt.

[Diebert is merely sick, whereas I am clinically psychotic. No one---NO ONE!---upstages me!]

[What else, may I ask, is one supposed to do with a rat? Compassion for rats? What next? Food stamps for cockroaches?]

[Dur, dur d'etre un rat!] [Please pay especial attention to the soundtrack. It has metaphysical dimension].

[And something for the Physicists among us.]

[Narcissism, or NPD, is impenetrable. That is why, they say, it is so difficult to treat. The individual is so fortified in their 'sickness' that everyone else will be seen as sick or deficient, but never oneself. Yet, (this is the odd part) there is also the plea for compassion or empathy, because this is the only way the narcissist can continue: there has to be an enabler. Without an enabler there is no platform for the narcissist, and he disappears into nothingness, into irrelevancy---a fate worse than death.]

[For cruel-hearted people, like myself, the narcissist offers endless amusement because one can calculatingly dole-out little tid-bits of attention---the literal sustaining food of the narcissist---and keep him comin' back for more. Where there is attention (food, bait) the narcissist will appear to nibble.]

[It is really a sort of amazing phenomenon!]

But seriously folks... how is it that you presume to discredit me without any actual information on "my world" (fantasy or actual.)

Anyway, time to return for a couple days to our 80 acre land trust intentional/spiritual/natural community, manifest as a local expression of the will of God.... the Center for Conscious Unity... just to reiterate and rub it in a little.

(It sure *seems real* for a mere fantasy!)
