Enlightenment is not a final event
Enlightenment is not a final event
I've noticed that many here think that when we become enlightened, that's it. Its not, in my view. we become enlightened and at the peak of this enlightenment, we lose it to return to a state of non-enlightenment (as yin reaches its most powerful yang begins (see yin-yang symbol) .....
Similarly when things become too complex we should return to the simple.
I do not believe that we return to the same state of non-enlightenment and I also believe we fall less and less heavily, so to speak but "mentat fixe adacto".... understanding always moves on ..
I am familiar with the teachings of Buddha et al and I believe one idea is that there are many stages of enlightenment but
I like the little bit of qabalistic wisdom which implies we have to use enlightenment in this daily world of ours, with real people and therefore it goes without saying we will fall, no matter how many times we check for lack of ego or keep an eye on our tempwers/desires/wants etc
What do you think??

I think your idea of "enlightenment" has many of the inherent characteristics of the term "nirvana." It is a way of constantly smiling in the summer breeze, twirling in motion, while the rest of the world slugs along, unaware of the beauty and joy everpresent all around us. Correct?
And I completly disagree. It might be that. But it also manifests itself in a myriad of ways. All of your choosing. The emotional, feelgood stuff gives me a bad taste, much like most of the New Age crap. It is soft escapism, not looking naked into the Abyss. Perhaps you dance around the Abyss, perhaps you cry. But at least it is the Abyss you are looking at and not subjecting yourself to a feedback loop of goofy "feelgood." Feel good, please. But do it for the right reasons.

To me enlightenment isn't about feelgood nor escapism but a complete understanding of everything and an understanding of what is and is not important I have these moments often and we all do, some just choose to drown them out with incoherent babble and closed minds such as yours.or alcohol.....or drugs....or whatever
What is your agenda on this forum?.
Wow! Your irrational illogical emotional outburst has completely taken me by surprise. What do you mean? And I completly disagree. It might be that. But it also manifests itself in a myriad of ways. Emma,
Your emotional outburst has taken me by suprise!
(that's a joke)
Do you have AIM? I'd like to talk to you on there sometime today, to have a one to one conversation and get to know about your ideas. That's more useful to me than reading essays written by a person. If you would be so inclined, please let me know. I'd really appreciate it.
My screenname is muju808.

Outburst? Try reading it deapan. That is how I write.
I don't have and agenda. I simply read and write. People can agree or not, read or not...all perfectly ok with me. But I do enjoy pointing out flaws in an argument and am perfectly willing to explore on my own.
What makes you think I drink or do drugs?
