I'm sorry Scott, I'll never question anything you ever say again. At least until your next response, if there is one.
sschaula wrote:Yes I have "overcome woman". You don't know how my personal life has been. For the past year and a half I've avoided the opposite sex and looked from a distance, seeing what they were like.
I don't need to know someone's personal life to see that they are full of shit.

What games?
sschaula wrote:I don't see any problem with women.
Right, what fun would a woman be if she were to become wise right?
sschaula wrote:The only problem I see is in myself, in those primal urges we were talking about.
They are only a problem if you let them control you.
sschaula wrote:I'm certainly not coming here to make stupid jokes that reveal my lack of sex and obvious need for it.
I know, you have other ways of revealing it.
sschaula wrote:What are YOU here for? Support?
To learn.
sschaula wrote:Uhhh...that's kind of sucky reasoning that you've got there.
Actually it's perfect reasoning.
sschaula wrote:I'm used to it. What else could there be? I certainly don't have the stupid idea that I could one day stop facing it.
Because you're enlightened, right? Not that you would ever actually use that word. You have taken wisdom as far as it can go and see no further progress to be made on your part, meaning nobody else can progress further than you either. Just come clean with us and proclaim that your words offer the highest wisdom the world can ever know. Come on Scott this is your chance!

Nick,
To learn.
How can you learn while being argumentative, and not considering viewpoints different from your own?

What? Surely you didn't think Panama was unique...
They invaded Bolivia twice?

How can you not? I find debating to be very useful to the learning process.

I give consideration to every viewpoint I'm given, and if the viewpoints are irrational, illogical, ignorant, or just flat out wrong I debunk them. It's nothing personal, I just value Truth, wisdom, and sound reason too much to compromise.

Gee I guess I better get to thinking, thanks for that. Imagine all the non-thinking I'd be doing without it!

There's no need to imagine, it's apparent in your sarcasm and bitter argumentative nature.

This is an interesting tactic I've seen employed by proponents of the prevailing Genius Forum philosophy a number of times. Personally, I think it should be addressed, in order to avoid the implication that it is irrefutable or an unusually solid rebuttal.

I feel that if we are taking the position that we have explored the ability of the intellect to grasp "ultimate reality" to its fullest and discovered that it has no way to do so, we shouldn't hesitate to answer Nick's question in the affirmative.

However, we don't have to assent to Nick's characterization of this realization as "the highest wisdom the world can ever know." Only someone still looking for "the highest wisdom the world can ever know" would think in such terms. Those who have realized "chop wood, carry water" are not looking for such things. They are just chopping wood and carrying water. Others may call this "the highest wisdom" and assert that it is being claimed by those embodying it, but those who understand it are more likely to call it chopping wood and carrying water. For them, the question of "the highest wisdom" no longer arises.
