Evolution, entropy, and 'the end'
Re: Evolution, entropy, and 'the end'
The universe is infinite because it consists entirely of time. Interestingly though the present universe, or the universe at any point in the past, is not as infinite as it will be in the future. The universe at any point of time is the flowing AND expanding totality and is infinite as it is all that can be with no outside. Not that at any point is it actually a totality, as there is no quantumness of time to create a situation where there are any instants where it is not in the act of growing - you can't sum something that at all (non-existent) instants is in the act of expanding.
There is an inference of quantumness of time due to the fact that Time's expansion within itself has a speed limit (which causes lights speed limit) and there are different speeds of movement for things. Somehow what is infinite appears to slow down so that things can actually form (without this slowing down all there would be is "energy"). While the slowing down is an illusion of relativity in that it does not actually slow, but forms time eddies where the expansion is of a bounded, inward, circular, orbital, spiral nature. One outside of such areas sees this orbital action which gives the appearance of time actually slowing. Where time expands without the pseudo-speed limit, then we refer to this effect as the NOW.
Back to the original question though. It might be that life's automatic need to survive and expand came about due to the action of time itself. As the foundation of expansion, the same intrinsic action carried through all the physical evolution required to create an environment for life and then for life transformed from simple gravitational attraction into hard wired code in DNA and is now instinctual. There is no predetermination (other than cause and effect) or cosmic consciousness involved in this effect though.

When you find the building blocks of nature you can eliminate wave particle duality as a myth.IJesusChrist wrote:

we are all connected, correct? then if one thing is infinite, aren't all things infinite?
2 x infinity is equal to infinity x infinity.
2 x infinity is equal to infinity x infinity.

Who says that we are all connected? We all have different map references, and we can be measured.Gurrb wrote:we are all connected, correct? then if one thing is infinite, aren't all things infinite?

Re: Evolution, entropy, and 'the end'
we are connected by two things that are conceptually infinite; time and space. the knowledge of an act or event spurs a chain of events, that is also infinite in its effect.
conceivably, that is. who is to say all thoughts are affected by exterior stimuli, and it can't be proven either.
for instance, i sneeze in private. this alters my thought process which causes me to take a different course of action, one which will eventually be witnessed by others. they too will alter (for lack of a better word) their train of thought and action, and so on. this will continue on forever.

Time doesn't exist. The sneeze was a physical cause, and effect. Your none physical thoughts are caused by zero cause, therefore cause, and effect is broken at that point.Gurrb wrote:we are connected by two things that are conceptually infinite; time and space. the knowledge of an act or event spurs a chain of events, that is also infinite in its effect.

Re: Evolution, entropy, and 'the end'
bold statement. time must exist in order for us to exist. the concept of time, of ageing, 'progression', and change are what defines time. without this, we cannot exist. as for non-physical thoughts, we cannot determine their cause. speculating that we think because we acknowledge, otherwise it is merely destiny.Pincho Paxton wrote:Time doesn't exist. You can define something without it existing. A Dragon for example, has wings, fiery breath, talons, scales, and a tail, but it doesn't exist, and never did.Gurrb wrote: bold statement. time must exist in order for us to exist. the concept of time, of ageing, 'progression', and change are what defines time. without this, we cannot exist. as for non-physical thoughts, we cannot determine their cause. speculating that we think because we acknowledge, otherwise it is merely destiny.
Ageing is the struggle against entropy.
Change is growth, and basic physics.
Movement is the passing of Aether membranes.
Time is like a ruler, it measures things. A ruler is man made, and time is man made.

lol. Why don't you guys say something constructive and truthful for once.

How would you know if it was truthful? Also, if everyone already knows it's the truth, what's the point of telling them about it?IJesusChrist wrote:lol. Why don't you guys say something constructive and truthful for once.
here... an apple is a fruit. Does that help you?

Well obviously then the truth did not help you, it made you feel repelled, therefore your previous post asking for something truthful was the cause of your own repulsion through cause, and effect. Better then to just read the posts that are already going on, and thinking to yourself, this could be truthful, but I am yet to find out.IJesusChrist wrote:Don't give me this sarcasm!

What is this "Cause" and "effect" you speak of?!

So how are we supposed to post the truth then if we need to read your mind first?IJesusChrist wrote:I don't think that's true.

Would you explain evolution to me in your own words?prince wrote:There is a definite beginning and end to every "thing" including the universe itself. Meaning is only derived from this fact. You are possessed of a human intellect which is (uniquely among animals) able to compress the concept of "time" into a singular moment of realization. There is only now, and now has already gone.IJesusChrist wrote: No, I hate philosophy, I am not here for that, I am here for answers.
So, be it;
We have a beginning, and no end - can there be teleology?
We have no beginning and no end - can there be teleology?
The latter, I find to be most truthful, but to answer the question, yes. Evolution has a purpose, and it is to proceed with the order, forever.
Mensa says: I appreciate the way you think Prince! "able to compress the concept of "time" into a singular moment of realization. There is only now, and now has already gone"
Can't argue that, for it is a truth, a logical one!
Evolution doesn't proceed forever, it has an arc which arches back on itself to closure. This is an ordered mechanism that repeats. What humans do in the meantime, with its advances in technology etc, is all for nought.
