Falun Gong

Post by uncledote »

Does anyone know much about the following?

"Falun Gong (pronounced fah-luhn gung) is Li Hongzhi's version of qi gong, which is an ancient Chinese practice of "energy cultivation". Falun means "wheel of law"; falun dafa is falun Buddha law.* According to Li, Falun Gong "is a cultivation system aiming at cultivating both human life and nature. The practitioner is required to attain enlightenment (open his cultivation energy) and achieve physical immortality in this mortal world when his energy potency and Xinxing [mind-nature] have reached a certain level."*

I have read Master Li's book and although i cannot remember much it is based om Buddhism, Chi Gong, i think Taoism and some mysticism. Compassion and non ego seem to be emphasized as is the objective of gaining insight through the opening of the third eye.

One part of the book i remember which impressed me was that when practioners start experiencing the opening of the third eye they are compelled through thei ego and normal eyes to keep the third eye open. So basically the more you try the more the third eye stays closed.

It only opens when you are i guess not trying and detached as much as posible from the senses as we know them.

Sorry if this info is not much but i'd also like to note that ive met a few practioners and they seem beautiful people, i guess that is what the Chinese government is scared of, to many spiritual people, go figure?
