As to burkahs, I'd rather wear one than follow the current trend of too-tight clothes and tops showing my boobs. I'd rather not attract the type of attention those clothes are after. Then again, burkahs have a stigma in our culture too, and I'd rather not attract that kind of attention, either.

Actually, for me it's a tool to help flag the last post I made to verify that I've read all the posts after it.
me too.

Oh, and Paris... face it, you're ugly.

Of course, or what you don't select. Also a selection.

But the human person isn't really there. That's only another, deeper part of the wonderful world of the symbol; the type.

At times staring at a face can be illuminating because of a combination of proportion, symmetry and total calmness expressed. It can work as a mirror or help to explore the mind. In the past I stared at Hazrat Inayat Khan for example.

The symbol has not, in my estimation, made for a wonderful world-of. It has been necessity, at the least. And like all things, possessed of its own toxic curve. Like many human things, an abstraction of its human creator, over which the human creator can be tyrannized by its own creation; become drunk in feeling same. It's drunk-think, this great extension of the self for the symbol, for representation <<< in itself, abstraction.

There is a human person there.

That's fine with me because I know I'm still the hottest girl in the forum.

Sista, I'm at least hotter than Paris Hilton, and a million times smarter.

Jimbo,
Her tone was quite masculine, but I misjudged the degree of her masculinity when I used the phrase "I'm presently stalking ….". She never responded after that. I only meant it in a platonic way - I had a similar kind of interest in Pye for while. Naturally I recognised she was out of my league. I didn't ask any specific identifying details of her. Most masculine minded women are gay anyway.
Not until now did I realize that you crave the attention of all women. And I thought it was just me.

From this post I can also figure what your issue is. You don't think you're supposed to like feminine women, and masculine women are too gay for you. So you haven't been laid in decades.

Good luck with that.

On looks:

Here's a picture of me in words, which I suggest will afford you even better grounding to judge my character than I think would a picture of my face, by my word-choice and such. Besides, I'm never putting my face on a philo forum again; it had poor results. One fellow pm'd me and ask that I delete the content of my messages that were directed to him, so his wife would not see him talking to me.

I have been told more than once that I resemble an american actress named Helen Hunt (a Jodi Foster once in there, too). A Helen Hunt with Irish black hair, which is now black and white hair, with streaks reminiscent of Mrs. Frankenstein. My eyes turn down at the outer corners, blue-green and probably very revealing and unshielded and 'intense', a chisel in each cheek, and my features are "fine" in that classic sense of small mouth, small teeth, defined shapes on a small scale. I have a little overbite and my skin is also irish-fair. I wear glasses down my nose only when I read, and I need them, I can't see to read without them. Otherwise, my face, no make-up, and I cut once a year the six inches of hair that grows past my shoulders; I have found the one-haircut-a-year much easier than short or would-be shaved hair that needs more regular attendance or long tangly things. It's also kept within a length at which I can cut it easily myself, and I often wear it up. Also, I have black and white streaked bangs that tend to hang in my eyes, I have to keep after them. They are over a long forehead. In a period of years between 32-44 or so, I was variously called a stone fox or hot, or someone who "had it going on." I'm now fifty, and with natural hair, and organically wound down from the need of fixation on these things.

And Jim your comments on intelligent-women=gay reminds me that this year I have three women students from whom I get the vibe of great attraction. One I know is gay, the others I think just have strong identity attractions to my general vitality. (Just in the last year though have the most organic manifestations evolved for me that signal the note I cannot go at my engaged pace as I have gone since 20's. It's a slightly clunky transition and I'm taking it in good cheer. I get a few immune infections; inflamed my voice box lecturing, a hot flash or two, but it is really my organism signaling me to ease up in pace with it).

So, I have only ever been with another woman once, and it was/still is a friend of mine, and it was nice (I was tipsy), we were just close friends and it was just a rather joyful and natural, well, extension of that. I've not desired afore or since, but it was pretty nice. I am/was your serial monogamist who in earnest has loved a few men, but with whom the things you think you could realize in relationship do not, and one finds herself placed in the position of attending to a life-deficit, another person who drains more than they exchange. Yes, I have loved a few men, and deeply. I am presently and have been enjoying unattachment and celibacy probably more than I should; I actually get happy waves from it - you know, like what it really means to be this way, and I have no wants for the work of relationship and can easily see myself being this way from hence forth. I have had lots and lots of relationship/sex, if not in people-quantity, in depth of years and experience, and now I simply feel in relation to everything - watered down if you will, distilled and spread, hence de-fanged and in consideration of a larger pov, I spend an awful lot of time alone, really, all my time alone when I am not in engagement to teaching or fetching provisions. I do an awful lot of reading and I watch stuff on PBS or a collection of british dvd's. I have a small handful of friends who will have deep or intense conversations with me; otherwise, I am not very interested to talk; it even irks me. I adore to have my work in this not-wasted intensity, too, I hoist and leave and short-wave across campus and exit people and go home. I have been variously described as aloof, intense, genuine, funny, passionate, and kind; and I have heard "the most intelligent woman I've ever . . ." etc. a fair few times, if telling it like it is.

I've wanted to say for awhile as well - especially in respect to Shardrol and her cat/s - that I think it is good for us to live with other sentient beings. They notice things we don't, and our notice of them is staying in-tuned and being enriched. It is an enhancement, and not a stupid thing to do. Stupid is to focus nothing upon the natural world, by-pass closer cohabitation with other sentiency.

Finally I guess, I do not think beauty and intelligence are bound to be apart anymore than that they are bound to want to manifest together. Intelligence is beauty anyway, and all kinds of things can converge in people in the grand scheme of their variety, intelligence and beauty in one, too.

Helen Hunt is an attractive woman.

What is Irish black hair?

I just wanted to clarify that Jim is seeing a correlation between masculine women and gayness, not intelligence and gayness. An intelligent, feminine woman is not necessarily gay.

Well, that's because you're smart and don't confuse intelligence as belonging to the masculine category of qualities. I don't know about some of these others fellows . . . .

I would say I see intelligence that is strongly utilised as belonging to the masculine category.

Funny enough I still think there is a masculine aspect to attractive women overtly using sophisticated femininity to get what they want. I guess I see the Will to Power, or one could say one's "For-itself" attributes, as being masculine. I see masculininity as the agent that brings about change, while the feminine is that which accepts or accomodates change. In the end accepting absolute truths to me is feminine.

Both feminine and masculine women have problems for me.

Feminine women tend to have the strongest physical attraction to me, but over time they are boring and demand irrational things, way too shallow and herdy.

Masculine minded women who are attractive do very well in the material world and tend to go for intelligent competant masculine males or feminine women (for example - Ellen Degeneres/Porti De Rossi) They would be too demanding of me and way too controlling - I could never accept that.

I haven't been laid in many years, yes. I don't care so much about that on a day to day basis, and never actually seek out a date. Occasionally though over the years I have become infatuated with the odd young female at work, and it hurts a bit then - the desire for the joy of intimacy comes to the fore.

I use my intelligence strongly, even though I'm not a philosopher. And I have never in my life had romantic or sexual feelings for a woman.

I also am living the life of a man; I am the only breadwinner in my household, and have no intentions of changing that.

Jimbo,

I have a solution for you. Find yourself a woman who is 50% feminine and 50% masculine. IMO, that is a good balance.

BTW, am I the only one who finds it ironic that the silliest thread in this forum (this one) is already on page 2, going on 3?

It's not nearly as ironic, or sad, as having a pretentious burn-out of an academic like "Pye" posting in this forum and thinking what she says has some value.

Right, or a bitter old young self-made man having complaints be his sole contribution to just about any thread in which he posts.

Actually most of the time, Carl G, I bite my tongue and say nothing. Morons like you, Pye and a few others serve the purpose they are intended for, to make clear what is ignorance, so the wise man who is not yet a sage, has a method of navigation.

You are but a cautionary tale.
