Bob writes: "This may be so, but I think he lacks keen insight into himself. Many people can accurately see through others to varying degrees, but rare are they who accurately and thoroughly see through themselves."

But I wasn't really talking about 'seeing through' anyone. I was only talking about the premises that inform the opinions expressed. Seeing through is too problematic, to presumptuous. Most of the time, on these forums, we don't assess correctly or we only really assess ourselves.

I think you're also too cerebral, Alex. As a result you miss my simple point. That being, "rare (and truly wise) are they who accurately and thoroughly see through themselves."

A truly wise and centered soul intuitively and rightly feels other people out. Which is the result of years of feeling himself out.

You both are incredible people.

Bob I find you to be extremely wise, I love and know your knowledge.

Alex, you are highly keen at knowing people, and your way of expression is greatly appreciated, you have your own knowledge and are confident in yourself and about what you know. I like you and will read more of your work.

I am comfortable knowing men are wise over women, no doubt about it! Men are wise at handling their wisdom, that's what I appreciate about the male gender here.

Kelly, you are more educated than I, and I appreciate your knowledge and your dare-to-be-different character attitude, because you are different, as we all are unique, but, your difference is appreciated because you risk yourself regardless of what anyone thinks. I appreciate your non-chalant attitude and your daring risky nature.

Thank You to everyone for not saying anything to me for making the mistake of bringing up my past. But, being brothers and sisters, everyone has a right to know what nasty behavior people are capable of doing.

Why do you think it was a mistake? I think it showed some courage.

I find this to be a head's up or rightful womanly observation and attitude. My neat, long-gone grandmother felt the same way and lived accordingly. As a result she lived a rather long, happy, active, and contented life and was a shining example to others. A good example of womanhood the likes of which are very rare in these last days. Of course she was born in a far saner day and age (1887). In any case, male or female, as a person sows, so shall he or she reap.

I find such sharing of the overcoming of our conditioning and early childhood trauma, which we all suffered to varying degrees, is the best way to help both ourselves and others in their own journey of self-overcoming. That is those relatively few who are capable of it.

One of the ways people show a misunderstanding of wise misogyny is to assume that being biologically male necessitates philosophical nous, instead of biology only helping out. It is wrong to equate being male with having genius or wisdom; it is a sign of greater potential only.

Yes only, though it's expressed in many ways, shapes, and forms.

So Bob, are you saying I have to hate my own sexuality somewhere along the line or else I do not stand a chance of becoming an "enlightened" individual?"

I'd suggest you begin by first hating yourself, your "own life," c/b. The sexuality aspect of it will be understood later if a genuine rebirth experience takes place.

That might work if you do it with everything you got. Half-heartedness surely won't cut it. Good luck!

All seriousness aside, so we are clear - I do not think I have the ability to hate anyone, and the directed self-hate thing is something it has taken me a lifetime to learn how not to do, at least not all the time. I have learned to give myself a break, because you know what? When you mow yourself down, there's nobody to come rushing to pick you back up.

I'm dead serious at all times c/b. Even in my moments of frivolity. I'm certainly not here, or anywhere for that matter, for fun and games or to blow my own horn. And my experience was and continues to be that I have to (constantly) mow my'self' down in order to discover new being, or make the return to love, and then stay in that extraordinary dimension of existence.

"What is the greatest thing a man can experience? It is that hour of 'self'-contempt." (Nietzsche)

"Man is attached to everything in his life; attached to his imagination, attached to his stupidity, attached even to his suffering - possibly to his suffering more than anything else. He must free himself from attachment. Attachment to things, indentification with things keeps alive a thousand 'I's' in a man. These 'I's' must die in order that the big 'I' may be born. But how can they be made to die?....It is at this point that the possibility of awakening comes to the rescue. To awaken means to realize one's nothingness, that is, to realize one's complete and absolute mechanicalness, and one's complete and absolute helplessness.....So long as a man is not horrified at himself, he knows nothing about himself." If you can't see the distinction between these two quotes, look more closely.

I can only lead a horse to water, c/b. And that's where my responsibility ends. I can't make them drink.

Here's what I meant.

Nietzsche gives himself a priceless gift - the hour of self contempt. You, on the other hand, "constantly" mow your "self" down. Is your method superior?

Nietzsche gave himself no such "priceless gift." Nor did I ever really choose to 'mow my'self' down'. We both simply happened to built or predestined for the abyss or that valley of the shadow of death.
