we hear too much about relaxing and 'meditation'.my mind (and I expect yours) works in reverse - the stimulus is from without - always chaotic, procreative and spatial of strange conjunctures;and 'repose' a period of fatigue or sleep,a renewal of the tension necessary for contexturation of creativity.

bert,

We posted at the same time.

And this does make me smile.

--

Your post takes me back to "yesterday" (?), when my mind bubbled up my own Chuang Tzu post - describing the "ephemeral dominance of perception." Our minds revel in the "conjunctive displacement of creation," but few share this passion - disrupting our ideal continuity.

Tension is a result.

And synchronicity is a feeling, that few will admit to, for fear of true self-reliance.

"The Teachings of Chuang Tzu" thread.

I remember my intention well:

To spark some interest in his writings, as I saw your minds were alike.

But, I am humbled by the response.

I am one that is convinced that diverse knowledge is not necessary, but aptitude for it is.

some people with a very limited display of words can make some things very clear.
its all about the kind of telling, how you tell it.

the only way the mind can percieve the whole is if it's relaxed enough to accept the whole -- a tense mind focuses, concentrates and excludes in a willful way; it is not the speculum of all creation.

There is a different sort of 'repose' known to skiers, ball players, tennis players, motorcycle riders etc. You can also call it 'attentive to the task at hand.' A person very attentive to what is at hand will find that thinking has ceased. Activity may be very high, but the mind is at peace and the ego's normal self reflection is absent. People find this 'restful' and 'out of my head like a vacation.' It 'clears the mind.' It is also why hobbies are popular. Anything that is needed will present itself easily to such a mind.

If, on the other hand, you do 'philosophy' all the time such as Freddy Boy and Soupy Schopenhauer, you will, in time, go insane - as they did. Why is this? Because philosophy is a contemplation of abstractions centered around the ego and it's place in these abstractions or 'scripts.' It ignores the present, timeless situation for a mentally contrived script. Gurus call this 'mind hell.' It is really ego hell as ego awareness is unpleasant and taxing. Observe newcomer Ray Karjewski - he is in brain hell because he needs everyone to follow his script. He's a miserable creature who has obviously spent a good deal of time in jail thinking this shit up.

Repose in Self or Atman reflection is reflection on Purusha and not the ego. It is a centered state in which the body/mind is seen taking care of itself naturally. It is only known to gurus, and it is the state where any and all information comes of its own accord. This is the 'repose' that is being referred to by the sage. --A repose which "becomes the speculum of all creation."

unwise,
the chaotic mind is essential:

the mind in repose is a good condition for re-visualization of the known and perhaps for recalling to memory some relation from subconscious strata.
my own and most people's periods of procreative ideas occur in half sleep,as in dreaming, where I see a creation that differs from the apperent one,a kaleidoscopic chaos with every kind of intrusive image, tumultuous, with surging crowds of vague familiars from the labyrinth of mind.

Bert my man, you may get some ideas for a movie script from such dreaming, but the great insights, revelations, solutions to your problems, satori and other such jewels come rolling in as the whole treasure box is periodically tipped over in a flash of an instant in a moment of total repose. So fast that they can appear between words in a sentence.

unwise,
Self condemned in your disgusting fatness,your emptiness of power,and without the magic of personal charm or beauty,and offensive in your bad taste and mongering for advertisement;
your knowledge is obtained with less decency than the hyena his food.

you are speaking of the many other states of mind giving inspiration, often unexpected;as by the provoking of anger and resentment,to evoke oracles from the highest level of inspiration.
