LSD-- The Philosophical Implications

Post by acid »

This is the drug of the future, and if you delete this idea, you are simply stuck in erroneous premises.

I will make a brief post here, because I do not want to start something if it will be moved to the Brothel. All of the whores over there are a waste of my time. I have been lurking for quite some time.

If this thread is left unfettered, I will make a more substantial contribution at a later date. It seems the moderators here have been doing a decent job of avoiding censorship. I am testing you, to see if you move it.

If you do move it, please ban my ip address as well, so I don't have to waste my time with you.

Otherwise, I will share with you my opinions on the LSD-25, if there is any interest in discussing the matter.

All one-liner spam replies will be ignored.

See if I hold good on my word to that. I can be a bothersome troll, but the best thing to do is to ban my ip, because I have too many things I am trying to keep up with anyway.

My hope is, this thread sinks to the bottom, until I revive it in a few days. However, useful contributions are welcome, but not from you.

p.s. kolsway, if that is the right handle, you tricked me for a second there. Or, the computer did. I changed my email address, and I was blocked, and I saw kolsway had just logged in. I thought he banned me, but I just had to verify my new email addy to get back in.

Anyway, I figured that first post needed a tag anyway.

(hehe), I also heard that acid can cause possessive delusions of grandeur, but that's just what I hear on the street.

You gotta watch that LSD-25, it will sure blow the doors of perception wide open, but if you dont have the reasonining skills to handle it, well you may end up a little schizy...

Overall I dont feel experimentation with drugs is necessary to be wise, but I would be interested in hearing your position on this matter Mr Acid...

Isn't it nice how the edit marks the time for you.. I will cum up with something for you in a little bit.

okay, well, I see it marking your time, but not mine.

I guess that is because mine is the last post.

okay, enough procrastination. I am going to keep an eye on you cosmic, and see if your edit on the previous post climbs above 3, where it stands right now.

Firstly, I would begin by saying, I feel very fortunate to have experienced the wonders of LSD. I will tell you about my experimentation. I had never even drank alcohol until high school graduation, so I first tried weed in college, then frosh year, I tried acid for the first time. My younger sister had given it to me one day, and it was merely liquid acid dripped onto saltine crackers. I had five of them. I took the first one one night in the middle of the week, and I was not expecting anything to happen, because it was just a saltine cracker. I tell you it was one of the highlights of my frosh year in college. I tripped by myself that first time, and then I began to share with a couple friends with the four I had left.

It is difficult to explain exactly what acid does to you, but I would tell you, it makes you feel like your entire brain is working, instead of the supposed 10% that scientists claim the average human being actually uses. However, these sensations should not be compared to the sensations of a stimulant substance, such as cocaine. I have tried cocaine, and I don't like it very much most of the time.

well, this post is already getting a little long, so I will just say, I have only tried acid one other time, aside from those crackers, and it didn't work because I didn't take enough. I just took liquid acid on one sugar cube, and we should have taken more.

After that, I started with mushrooms, and the effects are very similar to acid. We grew mushrooms in our college dorm rooms junior and senior year at my college.

I have not tripped for over three years now, but that is because I have not had the opportunity. Once I tried to order acid through the mail, but I got ripped off for $100 for it.

Yes, acid and its derivatives (not really derivatives, but you know what I mean) can cause any number of delusions. However, it is often non-delusional when you take it. It can make you extremely paranoid, and that is called a "bad trip."

I called this the philosophical implications of acid, and it is clearly philosophical. Just as the Athenians took medications to induce states similar to the states Leary and co. induced in themselves with acid, today mainstream society is faced with the question of whether or not to try it. I believe it is the best substance out there, and the power of it is immense. The simple fact that no other modern substance can come close to matching it in potency, means acid is still in a league of its own today, even when compared with the new age counterparts, such as ecstasy.

That is merely a taste of it. I hate super long posts, so I will have to wait to see if the thread goes down the toilet, or if it peeks(wrong spelling here I believe, piques?) any interest. I may add to it at a later date if I am inspired to add to it. I see many people have their own threads, which are more or less blogs.

One other thought is that lsd has been used to induce a model psychosis, most particularly schizophrenia. It, however, has not lived up to psychiatric critique in reproducing it.

You seem to be an experimenter. I'd like to know what you think of 5-MeO-DMT.

I tried acid once by accident. It was laced in some pot I smoked with friends. Some strange things happened..like the sun became really big and orange and started pulsating. A candy machine would constantly give me free candy even though I didn't put any money into it. I started crying on the ground for no reason. I didn't get any truth from it...just a bunch of lies in fact. But it shows you just how fragile our deluded perception of the world actually is.

I also tried salvia. Big effects with that one. It caused me to quit ever doing drugs again just because of the intensity of it. I smoked it three times in the course of probably 4 days. It made everything I was aware of change into various shapes. I was watching a Wu Tang Clan live concert dvd, and the rapper started rapping about what I was doing, and multicolored clouds came out from the tv screen. Then it sounded like someone in the upstairs of the apartment was killing someone else, so we turned off the sound on the tv and it continued for a long time. Another time I smoked it, it was as if the entire world turned into fields of corn. Everything I saw was made of this one thing, which resembled corn stalks. Then I went to look in the mirror and I looked like a cobra or something. In fact, the world probably looked like snake scales instead of corn stalks. I got really pissed off at my best friend because he was looking at me to see if I was feeling it. I tried telling him to fuck off, but it was as if peanut butter was filling my mouth and it came out like "ffmmm sssmmgg". I tried saying it to him for a good five minutes.

Just weird stuff. If you haven't tried salvia, give it a go. It's legal in the US..so a lot of shops sell it. All you need is one hit held in and immediately the effects start. They last about half an hour, and there are some lingering effects like cold sweats which go away completely after a couple hours.

But I don't personally think drugs are good for a philosopher. And like I said, I don't do them. My everyday experiences are wild enough.

The info I've read says that it is impossible to smoke LSD, the heat destroys it, so you probably smoked something else.

Scott, why would you recommend that someone fry their brain on a drug that has apparently already fried yours?

CP,

Why do you think my brain is fried? It should be obvious that it isn't seeing as how I passed Combat Medic AIT in the Army just this past year. I'd like to see how you would make it through that. Half of my company failed and was recycled. Half of them were kicked out of the MOS, because they failed the course twice (so about 1/4 of everyone). I scored an 82 on the ASVAB test without having taken many of the courses of the material on the test. Like mechanics, or the more advanced mathematics...I had no idea and just had to figure it out on the spot. I took this after being out of high school for two years, and having only taken liberal college classes afterwards (which don't help for many useful tasks). My scores on the ASVAB were high enough that I could become anything I wanted. How could that be if my brain is fried? 82 is not the greatest score, but at least it shows my brain can work. The average score is something like 30. All of my ACT scores were above average...not spectacular or anything but good enough.

So what's with this about my brain being fried? What proof do you have? You just probably disagree with what I think on some issues, and thus, you think I'm stupid. But am I actually stupid?

What truth remains hidden from me?

I'm kind of getting sick of these stupid attacks aimed at me. Sapius, Nick, Leyla, and now you have all recently been doing it. I don't see why everyone needs to let me know that I'm inadequate...are you trying to help me out? If so, you should probably talk to a psychologist about how to go about that. Negative reinforcement doesn't work all that well. Just watch some episodes of the Dog Whisperer, and apply it to humans. Go read "How to Win Friends and Influence People." That will give you some tips on how to get people to go in the direction you want them to.

But perhaps you just feel threatened by who I am. I'm a pretty outspoken person on what I think is right. Sometimes people will try to compete for power, by doing irrational things...like ripping on me for no good reason. I hope, if this is the case, that you see what you're doing and become wiser from it.

Maybe you're just reacting from the time I told you to stop stealing software. Was that advice really so threatening to your ego?

By the way, salvia doesn't fry your brain. It makes things weird for like half an hour.

okay Scott, perhaps I went a little too far with the insult. An insult serves a certain purpose because it tests the individual to see how much ego is still present.

you have a point Scott, perhaps I’m still a little bitter from that heated discussion between you and I and perhaps this attack was an unconscious attempt to get back at you.

My point Scott is that advising Mr Acid to try new drugs probably isn’t the wisest thing to do, that’s all I’m saying.

Each entity has a certain degree of stupidy, and that is why one should never be content with what they are. Keep working, reading, studying, and taking criticism from others.

Scott, I know I have a degree of stupidity, and I remain discontent with what I am. We are born into an animal brain with all sorts of tendencies that needs to be understood.

No one in this forum is an absolute genius, each one has imperfections and flaws, some more than others, so there are spectrums of intelligence. However one can absorb a writer’s work that seems to excel as a means to strengthen ones own understanding.

and one can research, investigate and ask questions on ones own time.

However this can never happen if you are content with what you are.

The only way one can grow if is they are displeased with their current understanding.

And another person cannot influence you to be discontented with your understanding, that is up to you.

The biggest thing I have realized lately is that the brain uses “ideas” to derive a sense of security. We are constantly doing this all the time.

we are incredibly emotionally involved in our perspective. Emptiness happens when one negates the content of ones own consciousness until a stillness remains.

have you ever just sat Scott? do you know how hard it is just to sit? the aniexty, the fear, and the involuntary thoughts that came into the brain against ones will.

The brain is a mess… thousands of years of evolutionary biology/cultural traditions, knowledge etc are in each brain.

We are constantly trying to creating greater security for ourselves all the time. However some of this activity is necessary, but the brain never stops. It is programmed with a fear in each cell to continue at all costs.

each cell is afraid of death, and each cell creates a brain that is afraid of death, and the brain creates the human being that is afraid of death.

Facing death is facing what no one else will do. No one else will do it because it is so bloody hard.

The mind is restless, the ego wants to continue at all costs, it wants to become a genius, it wants to be this and that, but every striving to become something different than what you are is the movement in the wrong direction.

Can one realize that 99% of all thoughts that come up involuntarily in the brain are the result of fear?

The biggest thing to understand is that you are not your thoughts. Thoughts are just an emotional reaction.

CP,
okay Scott, perhaps I went a little too far with the insult. An insult serves a certain purpose because it tests the individual to see how much ego is still present.
I'm aware of that. I think there are better ways of undermining such a nasty beast, rather than coming at it head on. It should be coaxed into its own destruction.
you have a point Scott, perhaps I’m still a little bitter from that heated discussion between you and I and perhaps this attack was an unconscious attempt to get back at you.
Well, I apologize. I didn't know that it would hurt you, and that you'd hold a grudge against me. Just so you know my intentions, I was only trying to help you become wiser.
My point Scott is that advising Mr Acid to try new drugs probably isn’t the wisest thing to do, that’s all I’m saying.
Maybe you're right.
Each entity has a certain degree of stupidy, and that is why one should never be content with what they are. Keep working, reading, studying, and taking criticism from others.
I agree.
Scott, I know I have a degree of stupidity, and I remain discontent with what I am. We are born into an animal brain with all sorts of tendencies that needs to be understood.
No one seems to take the advice of Jesus, including myself. You know the advice I'm talking about... "Don't try to remove the splinter from your brothers eye, until you've removed the plank from your own." Or however it goes.
No one in this forum is an absolute genius, each one has imperfections and flaws, some more than others, so there are spectrums of intelligence. However one can absorb a writer’s work that seems to excel as a means to strengthen ones own understanding.

and one can research, investigate and ask questions on ones own time.

So it's wise to remain discontented? I disagree. But the person who has a passion for wisdom has no choice but to remain discontented. They don't have to try for such a thing. If they're true to themselves, and follow their hearts, they will always be on the search until enlightenment. Nothing will satisfy them.

But you can't make yourself this way. And you can't force others to be this way by making them confront the truth. Very few will respond to that. You have to show them how logic and truth are good, and how they are freeing, and then they will naturally desire it and seek it out...until it consumes them.
The only way one can grow if is they are displeased with their current understanding.

And another person cannot influence you to be discontented with your understanding, that is up to you.
I think we're thinking along the same lines here, CP. Funny, because you were trying to challenge my ego. Yet you just said it's impossible to stimulate bhakti (love of truth) in another person. Think about that.
The biggest thing I have realized lately is that the brain uses “ideas” to derive a sense of security. We are constantly doing this all the time.

we are incredibly emotionally involved in our perspective. Emptiness happens when one negates the content of ones own consciousness until a stillness remains.
You're only speculating. All we can safely say is that there are all of these ideas coming from our deeply rooted sense of insecurity.
have you ever just sat Scott? do you know how hard it is just to sit? the aniexty, the fear, and the involuntary thoughts that came into the brain against ones will.
It's the scariest thing a person can do if they sit long enough. You confront your own death. This type of practice is called shikantaza, and it's how I had my first glimpse of the enlightened state.

At times I do just sit, just to take a break. But then my samskaras get me up. I'm not perfect.

That's easy to realize. Getting the body and mind to stop being afraid is the real work. Without changing this, no one can attain enlightenment or wisdom.
The biggest thing to understand is that you are not your thoughts. Thoughts are just an emotional reaction.
That's just another idea, driven out of insecurity.

Hello Acid, how would you determine if your entire brain is really working better or more efficient or effective while tripping, or after the experience even? The drug could as well trick the mind in believing it's 'expanded', giving it some pro-longed form of some artificial 'eureka moment'.
today mainstream society is faced with the question of whether or not to try it. I believe it is the best substance out there, and the power of it is immense.
Could you detail that 'power' you perceived a bit more? Apart from the feeling one is powerful or intelligent or perceptive, what does it bring? Shake up our fixed perspectives a bit?
The simple fact that no other modern substance can come close to matching it in potency, means acid is still in a league of its own today, even when compared with the new age counterparts, such as ecstasy.
I don't know about that. I think pure MDMA (xtc) holds way more promise just because it leaves a much more controlled and calm state of mind to actually leave something to explore, if so inclined. Most LSD users report being swept of their feet by the experience and only drift along in the stream of their subconscious and imagination for a while. In other words: it's too powerful for anything, apart from being 'blown' out of ones mind for a while which might provide a new perspective on things. Not necessarily a wiser one though.

If your experience differs I'd like to hear about it.

sorry, I have never taken ecstasy, so I can't say which one is better (ecstasy or acid), but I would prefer acid because there is no evidence of deteriation on the brain with acid, while there is such evidence with ecstasy. I would probably try ecstasy anyway if given the opportunity, but I have no access to it at the time.

In any case, I believe every high is attainable without the use of artificial substances such as the chemicals we are discussing, but sometimes you need to take measures into your own hands, and that occurs when you become extremely bored. anyway, a word to the wise is to avoid paranoia at all costs, especially with Halloween coming up.

Bored enough to post 20 pages of one-liner spam for 3 hours? I understand that LSD induces a person to want to do the same thing over and over. Is that a more enlightened way to relieve boredom than reading a book?
