Exercise 1:
Pretend you are an alien. Use your imagination, zoom out into space and look down upon the earth as if you were this alien. Observe all the happenings without any cares or bias that humans have - as if humans were ants. Apply this thinking to everything, as in, bring everything you can think of into this perspective.
Exercise 2:
Whenever you think or say a word, define it. When you come up with the words of your definition, define THOSE words. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
Exercise 3:
When thinking of your values, ask why does this matter? When you get your answer, ask why again. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
* * *
Exercise 4 (advanced):
Return to action. Do not stop, withdraw, and try to understand. Act.

Re: Objectivity Exercises
It doesn't really work, skipair. It's impossible to even attempt applying it thoroughly. The very thought that everything is meaningless, gives meaning. The very attempt to say one cannot define anything completely, is itself a complete definition. The desire to abandon understanding in favour of action ignores the fact that thought is action, and that all phenomena is already the body of the noumenon.
I generally suspect people who use this trick of "everything is uncertain", or "everything is futile", of having an egotistical reaction to the void. They feel emotionally dissatisfied with the conclusions of reason, because they don't take reasoning far enough. So, instead of fully embracing meaninglessness, letting it bite away into the emotional need for life, and pushing-on to develop the Infinite-mind, the superficial dabbler in the waters of truth turns his back on the whole path, and - calling reason meaningless - promotes that superficial understanding as the highest, so as to better enjoy life and a assortment of mundane pleasures.

Been there, done that. When we were 17, Steve, Knut and I "sneaked" across the Canadian border. From Minnesota, we crossed over to Piney, Manitoba. Then hitchhiked our way to Winnipeg, oddly enough picked up by farmer and his wife whose property we had illegal entered and trespassed against. Our three sets of muddy footprints had done us in. It had been raining something terrible, we had spooked the cattle who were grazed in the International Buffer Zone (about a couple hundred yards or so) and had forgotten to close the gate so the cattle had wandered out. Good thing calving season was over - else the boss cows would have been right upon us and we probably wouldda been stomped right nicely. Plus, the bulls were no where near so a clean break so we had a fait accompli. brought train tickets to New York City. We started over the Great Lakes and changed trains in Toronto where Steve and Knut had to fend off a knife-weilding thief - I slept through it all. We crossed over back to New York state somewhere around the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, and scotted over to Albany and then south to The New City. There I called the girlfriend to let her know I (we) had made it safely. I worked for a couple months to save up the plane fare and of course, some extra goodies to mollify the girlfriend (Christine). All in all, the only time we were asked for our papers was when the train conductor asked for our papers when about to enter the good old U.S. of A.

For that occurred when my mother suggested that Lutheran Catechism would reveal all. She had been praying for years that one of her sons would become a minister and go ye into all the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. But poor momma, she was badly mistaken that I would ever consider following any cultish behaviorism that that wily old serpent, Satan, Lucifer the Devil (and the third of the stars referred to in the book of Jude) who wander aimlessly, looking for a way to re-enter Earth's atmosphere. HAARP programs in Alaska, Russia and Norway hold out the greastest possibilities. With the Hadron Collider, perhaps the wily serpent will enter from within the earth's confines rather than from the bottomless pit elsewise referred to as Outer Space.
Thanks *SnoCaine for reflections upon my past and future. I'll submit Exercise 2 in the next installment of My Life as seen through the glass darkly (the Black Mirror of Nostradamus).
*Note: Edited back to SnoCaine for the 'egocentric predicament'

Out of body experience. Watching the dialysis "machine" remove bodily wastes from my body. An odd shade of yellow.
This occurred late Tuesday into early Wednesday morning.

Re: Objectivity Exercises
Tomas, I dig that SnoCaine nickname. I have good memories of the Minnesota border, portaging canoes in the boundary waters. Foxes and eagles. Good country up there.

Put the American Flag in your field of vision and pay close attention to how you feel about it. Then put another flag in your field of vision and witness the difference.
