I tend to agree with you on this, Shah, but not because I am politically against abortion, because I definitely am not. I just think if you can get the morning after pill with no prescription, and really no one's permission, then it is safer and makes way more sense. Birth control can and does fail.Shahrazad wrote:DHodges,
I'd rather you killed them before they were conceived, or at least before they have a brain. The sooner the better. Birth control pills are a lot better way to control population than abortion, and something is not quite right with women that use abortion as their only way to control birth. We will not run out of humans any time soon. There's billions of them. There is no need for more of them.
I've known many women who have had abortions, some more than one. Not one has been blithe or happy about it. And I doubt it's because of the pro-life propaganda, which is shameless and shameful at the same time. I think it is because women by and large know what they are doing when they opt for an abortion - they don't need people telling them it is wrong. I have never known a woman who felt as if she really had a choice, despite the political moniker "Pro-Choice." The reality is different: abortion should be available - and legal, it should go without saying - because women usually have no choice. It is one thing to say that a woman can drop a newborn off at a police station or hospital with no questions asked. It is quite another to demand a woman go through an entire pregnancy to get to that point, then be able actually to part with her infant in such a manner. The monetary, medical and social, familial expense of carrying a pregnancy to term is what makes abortion something many women feel they have to do. After all, once birth control has failed, or has not been used, and you have a pregnancy, the "choices" rapidly dwindle.
