To be honest I've never given Dans gut or facial hair(or eithers lack thereof) a moments thought.

As far as I'm concerned he could be a chinese peasant,pot smoker in Nimbin,German philospher or computer generated robot.

If the avatar commonly referred to as Dan musings are well thought and logical thats all that concerns me.

As a passing interest where in Canada do you reside? I lived for a brief period in Rosslind and Kelowna B.C and travelled throughout B.C extensively.Fantastic part of the world.

Ataraxia: Northern Alberta (Edmonton). As far as civilization goes, it's hitting the limits of what people think is acceptable weather to even start thinking about real luxuries (a giant SUV is not a luxury that I'd care to waste my money on, although it's considered a necessity for a sexual life in the city). Having to worry about everything down to de-rusting cars after the salted roads corrode the metal... well, this place stinks of pollution from reckless oil drilling, has some of the angriest drivers in the world, and the most educated part of our population constantly wants to move away to somewhere warm and cultured. You can go north up to Athabasca (300 km farther up the prairies) and cities are gone. Eventually you hit Northwest Territories, and nothing but permafrost tundra. Ugly hellhole. I saw videos of reckless people risking their lives trying to use expensive gear to walk across a land that some Inuit tribes are still easily living on. I think there might be a city on Baffin Island (the huge chunk of ice before the long chain of ice in northern Canada), but other than that: nothing but ice, polar bears, and small Native tribes smoking peace pipes and breathing gasoline fumes out of plastic bags.

Not that it's only females who are petty, vindictive and insane, but here's another one. The equally insane part is that despite all the evidence pointing to what the wife did, and even the judge agreeing that the wife spiked the meatballs with marijuana to get her husband fired, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly just couldn't believe it and punished the husband anyway.

It would be interesting to see a transcript of his reasoning. At the very least, the wrong guy got fired. Had the genders of that circumstance been reversed, the husband would have been charged with a serious offense. You can take that to the bank.
