The ITM home hydrogen refueling station is based upon a special proprietary plastic membrane, which took six years to develop, and separates water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen is then separated and used to refuel the H2 car.
(Note: This cannot be run on a car designed for gasoline. Only one like the Hydrogen Honda FCX.)
The idea, the concept is revolutionary. On a planet covered with water, the most abundant resource, can now be put to use. The car itself is interesting, but like many revolutionary ideas, it needs to be put into action. How much is it going to cost; even if it is somewhat cheap, how much is the ITM going to cost? would the general public pay 75,000 dollars for this product? how many miles per full tank of (water? still sound wierd to say) would i get off of it, is 100 really worth it?
from what i read in the article, it all sounds too good to be true (besides the price) which usually means it is.
there have been similiar idea's in the past, that just died out. the station is interesting, and if the world catches on, hopefully will be as natural as, perhaps a normal gas tank at your local conveniance store.
this idea has been talked about for a while now, along with biofuel and other natural resources.
