Unrealistic/Irrational/Contraversial/Egotistic...expectation

Post by MindExpansion »

We all live in fantasy worlds, with diverse views powered by our egos', which are products constructed by our limited understanding of our life...A way to feel superior when we ourselves are the ones' who are insignificant...Always finding holes in other opinions and ideas, but at the same time increasing our own...Have you guys got it figured out yet...Are you close??

You...me...we're all the same, in more ways then not, with different experiences that molded us into what we are.

I'm only 17 (soon 18:D) and this site is ironic, a disappointment
I thought I found....Most of you probably don't know anything about true acheivement...Your fortune tellers(lol). Probably study a little bit...Then holdopinions-Login-post-reread-use a dictionary-change...BLAHBLAH...

i'M LIKE THAT TOO

Study all the sciences/ learn how things actually work...einstein himself said that theres a whole ocean of knowledge and all we uncovered is whats washed up by the shore...And he was well educated...beyond anything we can comprehend.......I'ts ENDLESS...Who am I to say such nonsense...no one important I'm just like you...Well maybe not exactly right?...We all have delusions, we can just control ourselves better then the 'kook'

Thank God I realized this early on....study/study/study go through educational systems, speak to professors and in general live to improve the live of the next generation of people

GOD...I just reread what I wrote. Can't wait to see the responses...Most probably don't understand 'the thoughts' behind what I wrote...I don't fully understand it myself...We and I never will.......I can't...lol

O.K your turn...Go ahead post some great work of art, a joke, metaphor...or my fav. the 'remark'

-Some will revise what I wrote and explain it to me (I sort of doubt that, for reasons (unknown)that I cannot 'dis'cause'...because I don't know/no??yes!!!

no your much to 'above' all this ****, right???

Right. However, if you go back and make an effort to be coherent you might get some meaningful replies. The question is, though, is that what you're really after?

For example, when you say we all live in fantasy worlds and have delusions, how do you know this to be true? How do you know that you are not, in fact, the only one like this?

You need more control in your writing style. You might have some interesting points, but there's no reason anybody should be expected to sift through this jumbled stream-of-consciousness to uncover them. You're demanding too much of the reader and offering too little in return.

Not everyone lives in a fantasy world.
You...me...we're all the same, in more ways then not, with different experiences that molded us into what we are.
Could you explain how this makes your views truthful?
I'm only 17 (soon 18:D) and this site is ironic, a disappointment
Fools are often disappointed by wisdom.
Most of you probably don't know anything about true acheivement
What is true achievement?
einstein himself said that theres a whole ocean of knowledge and all we uncovered is whats washed up by the shore
Einstein was a poor quality philosopher, despite his talents at science. He did not have a complete understanding of Reality.
I don't fully understand it myself
Perhaps you should think before you speak. Write a second draft once you find out what your idea is.

I disagree that Einstein was "a poor quality philosopher." In fact, I think he was one of the most underrated philosophical thinkers of the 20th century. It is only his enormous reputation as a scientist which overshadows his philosophical thought.

But he was a humanist, so I can imagine why he might not have much weight around here.

I skimmed through the "Quotable Einstein" at the local bookstore, and the only impression I had was that someone spent a lot of time quoting him.

MindExpansion,

You expanded the forum with your expanded title. Darn you. I hate scrolling. And on your first post, no less. I won't call you "troll" just yet. For now I shall simply call you "scroll."

Heh, welcome to the place, by the way.

These are the type of replies I was expecting...

Dan Rowden: *meaningful replies ah? From who...you? If you were smart enough you'd understand(understand what you figure it out...)

"how do you know this to be true? How do you know that you are not, in fact, the only one like this?"

*I don't and neither do you...

Unidian:

"You need more control in your writing style. You might have some interesting points, but there's no reason anybody should be expected to sift through this jumbled stream-of-consciousness to uncover them. You're demanding too much of the reader and offering too little in return."

*Any questions?- btw, your absolutely right!

Trevor Salyzyn: "Not everyone lives in a fantasy world."

*You don't...With the name and picture by every post...Is someone feeling lonely? Is that why you write so much on forums -Inferiority Complex?

"Could you explain how this makes your views truthful? "

*Why don't you think about it?

"Fools are often disappointed by wisdom"

*Your correct there! (Be positive don't call yourself a fool)

"What is true achievement?"

*Well, its definitely not this site...

"Einstein was a poor quality philosopher, despite his talents at science. He did not have a complete understanding of Reality"

I also read that article lol...no one has a complete understanding of reality and if they do...well, do u??

"Perhaps you should think before you speak. Write a second draft once you find out what your idea is."

*If I was being marked by a 'teacher' I would...Your a pretty shallow thinker aren't ya?

Unidian: "But he was a humanist, so I can imagine why he might not have much weight around here."

*lol Thats so true.

AND AGAIN Trevor Salyzyn wrote: "the only impression I had"

*After reading quotes...thats it? That explains your empty coherent answers. How old r u? What do u do for a living?

I was expecting a little more....*sign*...hehe

These are the type of replies I was expecting...
You mean, replies you wouldn't understand? I was expecting that, as well. Maybe I was being overly optimistic in replying to you.
You don't...With the name and picture by every post...Is someone feeling lonely? Is that why you write so much on forums -Inferiority Complex?
With the amount of flak I get at most forums I post on, I don't think that posting on forums would help an inferiority complex. No, I'm challenged by other people's idiocy. I think it's something that can be fixed, and since I'm not otherwise employed at the moment, I have the time.
me: "Could you explain how this makes your views truthful? "

you: *Why don't you think about it?
The short answer is, it has nothing to do with whether or not your views are truthful. I was hoping you'd come to that realization without my help, but again I might be optimistic with you.
me: "Fools are often disappointed by wisdom"

you: *Your correct there! (Be positive don't call yourself a fool)
Are you trying to get me back for my one-liners? I meant all disrespect, because I wasn't sure you would bother reading anything longer than one sentence.
me: "What is true achievement?"

you: *Well, its definitely not this site...
I'm serious. Answer the fucking question.
I also read that article lol...no one has a complete understanding of reality and if they do...well, do u??
Yes, I have a complete understanding of reality. It's not that big of an achievement for a philosopher. It's done all the time.
*After reading quotes...thats it? That explains your empty coherent answers. How old r u? What do u do for a living?
The quotations were poor in quality. That's enough for me not to be interested in reading more.

I answer succinctly to be rude, because I think you're in the wrong forum and need to piss off. Also, your head is too far up your ass to bother reading a longer post. I know you're type: you'd look for something to criticize without any interest in whether or not your criticism was truthful.

I'm 22 years old, and am happily unemployed.

mind:
definition of hypocrite...
It was not hypocricy. Experience has taught me I'm in the right forum; I willingly read long posts; and I criticize based on whether or not I'm correct. If I don't know, I don't post, and I don't tell unnecessary falsehoods. I do not believe that you do any of these things.

FYI, I can very well be an asshole while being correct.
Your a dumbazz trev, you don't even understand most of what you post...
You defined me as a hypocrite, which was an inaccurate assessment.

Speaking of which, didn't you earlier laugh when you said you didn't know what you were typing? Stop projecting your own attitudes onto me. I'm a very clear thinker.
Trev...I've been reading your posts around this place...Its 'pathetic'...'because' the answers you provide only ask or explain the obvious...Is that why your unemployed and happy...I don't know u, so its unfair to write such responses.......->Isn't it trev.?
You inadvertently gave me a compliment here. The fact that you think most of what I say is obvious means I completely slip past your radar. My writing is way over your head.

The thing is, when I'm rude to you, the things I'm saying are just as "obvious" as the things I say elsewhere. It's just here you are struggling to find a way to prove me wrong, whereas there you think that the fact that it's "obvious" makes me an idiot (on the contrary, making my writing look "obvious" is a finely honed skill).

You are on the wrong philosophy forum. You are not logical, mature, or honest enough to impress anyone here. You'll just be pulverized -- only a masochist would continue.

ME, (MindExpansion), if you really are 17… (which doesn’t really matter) I must say Bravo!

The fact that although you seem to have reached certain conclusions about reality, and yet post and talk about it, tells me that either you are still open to ideas, or that you want to convince others that you have somehow found the CORRECT answers about reality, and want (or hope) others to follow suit. For example… your bottom line… to what reality means to you…
Reality = Probably study a little bit...Then holdopinions-Login-post-reread-use a dictionary-change...BLAHBLAH...

… “I'M LIKE THAT TOO”
Well… you are not actually wrong in a manner of speaking, but you really need to clear your own thoughts. Just a suggestion, though.
These are the type of replies I was expecting...
Sure you were... and the confidence you show in your statement, tells me, you cannot be surprised, but actually you are looking for one… be it even in someone actually agreeing with you totally.
I was expecting a little more....*sign*...hehe
Hehehe…. Really? I don’t believe you! *sigh* ...hehehe

However, I do see that you have at least thought over "reality", but I don't think this is the end of the line for you, and you know it!

(Nat: I simply don’t understand (not really though) – whenever a new person shows up, most take him at face value from the very first post. Which tells me how attached one is to whatever he has achieved, and immediately judges the other; without considering where that person actually comes from. Which really needs some time to comprehend. What do you thing?

I think it is the style of the forum founders of attacking the words rather than what they might actually mean to the speaker, and some others find that style logical enough to “awaken” others to 'reality', or whatever they find it exactly to be... in an instant! I find that very naïve.. in the face of the fact that it takes much time and effort for them to finally realize whatever they have, and they know it. Unless it pops by magic.)

ME, welcome, in any case. :)

I'm 22 years old, and am happily unemployed.
I'm 32 years old and the same. Congratulations, BTW. Putting aside having a "complete understanding of reality," just being happily unemployed is an achievement most people could not hope to match or even understand. If you been among the ranks of the shiftless for any length of time, you're aware that coming out as atheist or gay is child's play in comparison to telling people you choose not to have a job and have no intention of ever having one if you can help it. Even "thoughtful" people can't wrap their heads around it. Unthoughtful people just hate you instantly. I've been told I should be allowed to starve to death even by so-called liberals, nevermind average centrists or conservatives.

You planning to avoid employment for the duration? I've been at it for many years and I can tell you it's a very challenging life. To keep your sanity, you really need to develop tremendous strength of character and prepare to have it go unrecognized by almost everybody. Prepare to be dismissed as a weakling, emasculated, labeled evil, and blamed for all of society's ills, all without the slightest opportunity to defend yourself. The average person's ears are quite firmly closed to the concept of voluntary umemployment. You will have to endure the frustration of having more character and integrity than your critics, all of whom will be absolutely convinced that you have none whatsoever.

A life of voluntary unemployment is a life spent confronting ignorance and arrogance head-on. Just a welcome and a warning from the trenches.

Trevor Salyzyn- I don't know how to respond to you. No matter what I write there will naturally be something that you can use in order to raise yourself status above mine...I meant one one thing and you critisized it for something it was not, Instead of asking me what I meant. Guess my arguements also went past your radar.

I wrote : "I don't fully understand it myself"

Tell me who does? I wrote that fairly quickly and since it deals with foundamental aspects of human nature, I ultimately had trouble expressing my thoughts in clear and concise form; considering my starting highschool again after two years as a dropout and spending 6 months in my home country, Poland. I think I'm doing alright.

You commented on: "einstein himself said that theres a whole ocean of knowledge and all we uncovered is whats washed up by the shore"
You did not state wether you agree, or not? Doesn't it make sense? There is so much unknown, for starters: decoding the genome and other such mysteriers, that when uncovered will lead to a greater understanding of life and in turn may lead to more confusion(would you like me to explain that point)

I regret writting most of what I posted. I guess it must have sounded irrational and just plain dumb...Instead of writting that useless trash, I should have picked a small section and wrote ideas and theories accompanied by fact and supporting arguements. I thought my believes where better and I didn't care to waste too much time explainning the obvious. Now I know it was false, a wishful way of thinking reinforced by my own ignorance...Guess I should have realized my high ignorance potential.

Your quote: Yes, I have a complete understanding of reality. It's not that big of an achievement for a philosopher. It's done all the time. ~I don't understand how you can say that, were you mocking me (obviously), right?

I wrote this because it is not a joke to me and I really what to learn how to expand my ideas and improve my writing.

Throughout this forum you were determined to uncover me as a fool (I realize I helped you a great deal) and that I have problems facing the truth!

Most people who write on these forums are in possesion of a greater and more eloquent understanding of life and the infinite number of processes that make it up; I sincerely pray that I will be forgiven (especially by you Trevor) and guided in our journey to enlightenment...Thanks

Kevin.

ME: I sent this message privately to Sapius after I read his post:
I agree with you that ME's Genius material. I'm not attacking him out of spite, but to get him to pay attention quickly. I'm trying to rile him up. It's sorta a Diogenes-like hazing thing: he needs to be vicious and commited or else he'll get bored, and won't bother to read posts fully.

As long as I don't press too hard, my bullying won't get him to leave.
I'm out of town for the weekend. ...but I'm glad that I managed to get you to re-assess your first post.

Unidian: Yes, I plan on remaining unemployed. So far, I've encountered nothing but tremendous pressure by family and friends to enter the workforce.

As soon as I idly suggested that I might attend community college to touch up my knowledge of biology, I was harassed on all sides by "good job!"

So, I've decided not to attend community college. I'm putting it off for "at least another year". I can almost count it as a rule that as soon as the fools like an idea, it's not a good one. It's a shame, because I was almost looking forward to seeing scientific methods stripped to the bare essentials (unlike the babbling professors that I met at university). Oh well....

The only person I'm really concerned about the opinion of is my psychiatrist. The worst my family can do is disown me. My psychiatrist, on the other hand, has the power to cut my funding if it doesn't look like a perfectly capable person like me has any interest in working.

My only weapon against that is to act irresponsibly (ie. stop taking medication), since that would put me at a higher risk level, but I honestly don't like my behaviour while unwell. It's an absolute last resort.

I don't know how I should respond, because I'm not sure wether your being sincere, or mocking me? One minute you raise youself on a pedestal, the next you write about taking medication...Hmm.

Your alright in my book:)

What type of medication do you take? If I were to look at samples of your work and my intro, I would say the latter was on meds:)

ME: I was responding to Uni's post, so I was being sincere.

Anyway, I'm bipolar, so my behaviour when I'm not on meds is either similar to a schizophrenic or a severely depressed person, depending on which part of my cycle I'm in.

Are you sincere when you respond to me?
I had a precise motivation in mind, so my first few posts were calculated to engage your emotions. I was sincerely trying to rile you up. What I said was technically truthful, but I was intentionally choosing words that would not be interpreted correctly, so in a sense, no I was not being perfectly honest.
What do you mean by cycle?
I'll explain this all at once, since if you're asking this question, you don't know much about this particular illness.

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, works in cycles. The severity of the illness is measured based on how rapid the cycling is, how crippling the mania and depression are, and how well the brain responds to treatment.

My entire cycle, when I'm unmedicated, takes about a year. 3 months of normalness, then 3 months of mania, then 3 months of normalness, then 3 months of depression -- and back to normalness. It's not really that predictable, but this sort of cycle is incredibly different than rapid-cyclers who can change from mania (hallucinations, delusions, and wild mood swings) to depression (apathy, poor memory, suicidal thoughts, near-comatose behaviour, low affect, etc) in a matter of days, if not hours.

Although I'm not rapid-cycling and I took quite well to the second regimen of medicine (the first due to a misdiagnosis, and which could have resulted in my death, since I ended up not sleeping for a little over 2 months -- even while sedated in solitary confinement with enough drugs, as my mom repeated the nurse's words, "to knock out a horse."), my disorder is quite extreme when I'm unmedicated. Let's just say that 200 years ago I'd've been in an asylum for life.

I thought mental disorders damage the brain. So, why are you a clear thinker and others with this condition are not? I can see that through your replies, but at the same time their is probably a lot I don't see and understand.

You certainly riled me up...So it all depended on how I answered your posts.

How [/i]do you interpret my writing?

I view myself as somewhat of a fool, especially in a forum like this. Do you what to help or just rile me up? Further more, can a person change from dumb to smart, or is it hopeless?

That was my first goal as AbsentMinded...Am I missing something?

Is it
futile for you to drop down to my level and help me out?[/b]
