Well, you guys are trying to argue that women aren't as good at such things as men, but she's finding the opposite in small children. Girls are as good or better than boys in math.
I would wager little girls are equal or better at such things as math compared to little boys because the latter are engaged with- and curious about the world. Little girls want to please their mommy or daddy figure, and don't seem to fidget about nearly as much as little boys. When I was a child all I ever did was explore in the woods behind my parent's house, leading imaginary wars and crusades against invisible armies, never to be caught out of uniform.

The last thing I ever wanted to do was sit in a chair, follow directions and do what I was being told to do when I plain had no interest in these things- adults don't seem to understand that math and the like can hardly be undertaken when there's a war raging right outside the window! Lives hanging in the balance, homelands to be defended, and they want us to do math??

Women are better than men at droll plug n' play formulas. Repetitive tasks seem to come naturally to them, not being distracted by greater thoughts that require the bulk of one's attention. Such thought is not to be confused with daydreaming about going to the winter ball with dreamy Tom Smith, vacancy of mind goes hand in hand with repetition. Hardly evidence of genius.

Ah, but when they get older, I think generally, the women (of both sexes) have the trouble concentrating, and are the fidgety ones. A few I know at my work have attention spans of less than five minutes. The men or more masculine women are able to actually focus long enough to accomplish things.
