new member with question

Post by thinkiambut »

Hi, ive been reading so i feel i "know" some of you already, i feel the same without trying to brag it does seem like almost everybody is stupider than me, i feel very left out and cant seem to make even 1 good friend. Ive always thought i was different, nicer, less emotional, wiser than even the adults and teachers when i was a kid.
Much of what i read here makes perfect sense. But I want to be sure, that Im a genius, and also how do i tell if im "enlightened" or not?
Im sure someone must have asked this already.
And are all geniuses enlightened, are all enlightened sages geniuses?
I read about Einstein not being one, that was a surprise.

I have some books by supposed enlightened sages, use it for meditation.
Repeating the parts that feel right to me.
Some are just long explanations by people who seem to be sure what they know but me im not sure maybe due to my age, 20s, someone who gave me a book suggested i check out this forum too.
So here i am.

Is there some way to tell-- how do i tell, about myself?
How can anybody be 100% sure.

Prince, if you can't offer any decently reasoned responses, then I'm in favour that you be asked to leave.

Dan? David? Kevin? Any thoughts?

My only true friend is my third wife of 22 years, and I also felt the very much the same way you did as a kid. Much like an outsider looking in. A loner who often thought something was terribly wrong with himself, yet my inner-most being would never fully yield to such a thought, thank goodness. Though eventually I came to see others not as stupid but as not being awake, aware, alert, alive, honest, and caringly responsive to themselves, their fellows, and life. Like I clearly was at least to a great degree. And that the very same thing was also true of people who were intelligent. That they too were quite dead to life.

I find a lot of things may look and sound good on paper, so to speak, or in books, yet I can't help but to wonder what the writers' lives are really like. I've found over the years that it's really quite easy for people to be downright deceitful and hypocritical especially in this type of communication.

Only you can know for certain whether you're enlightened and if you are you'll definitely 'feel' it along with knowing without any doubt whatsoever that virtually no one around you lives in that dimension of enlightenment or genius.

Keeping it simple here, I find there's two fundamental types of geniuses. Genuises of the mind and geniuses of the heart. And it seems clear to me that Life or the Infinite much prefers the latter type. And so do I.

Yes, my experience has been one of reading certain books over and over again and learning to read behind or between the lines with an evermore open and meditative mind. I also find that re-examining the lives of those who have journeyed down that road less traveled can help keep me inspired and on fire in this dark, hopelessly mad, dog-eat-dog world. One in which the darkness clearly hates the light and will do anything in its power to snuff it out.

Yes, I find there are a lot of people who can really impress and baffle others with their hopelessly self-aggrandizing and often eloquent-sounding lies and self-deceptions. I find one must learn to carefully discern and get the 'feel' for people and the things they say. Anyway it's nice to 'meet' you. You seem to have a bright, open, genuinely selfless and inquiring mind; someone who could perhaps be a real friend. And you being a youngster, and I say this in good light, I suggest you beware of most older people. Most of them have never stepped out of the ways of our grossly self-centered, "me, me, me" world and its ways and are as good as dead so far as them having anything of real value to offer us free-spirits (potential or actualized).
