The point is to distinguish people who have done something with their lives, as opposed to those who are worthless bums, in order to satisfy my curiosity.

If you're a student it's ok, you're a work in progress ;]

You are too humble, kind ser. Care to read something? Try to keep up ok?

We live in a age of marvels. Electronics has made us a global village: the Hubble can enable us to see to the beginning of time itself; we can pinpoint out location through satellite navigation systems and hold encyclopedias on a microchip.

We can do all these things, and yet something is radically wrong, terribly wrong. We keep polluting our magnificent home with the rancid waste from our chemical and petroleum industries, despoiling our planet and ourselves for the evanescent glory of the bottom line. We imbalance the most delicate of balances to conform with the logic of a system that is, to put it charitably, horribly out of whack.

Face it: our entire global immune system is breaking down before our very eyes. Cancer, the defining disease of our time, inexorably increases becoming more extreme wit each passing season; and we seem to be losing the battle with the mighty virus as we breed it into our foodstuffs, our strains of bacteria that eat antibiotics for breakfast. Our vaunted education systems produce graduates with great erudition in in-consequential matters, while illiteracy rises and the incompetent prevail.

And all the while nations become increasingly violent to each other as well as to themselves. The very worst role models are emulated, as vestigial third brain reptile territoriality takes hold of our collective consciousness, selling itself as "free market economics" or some such nonsense.

In the immortal words of the Chinese curse, we all been born into "interesting times."

Looking back over the past 100 years or so, when the industrial engine really began to get serious about eating the planet, it is tempting to ask whether or not the results really needed to have happened. Is there something fundamentally wrong with the human experiment, some genetic flaw perhaps?

Some cosmic misunderstanding that has made all this somehow inevitable? Or is it more mundanely political, that we have been taken over and over by materialist elite whose interests have overridden the common good so often as to be mistaken for the way it has to be?!

Perhaps there is just an unwritten conservatism that replenishes a reality construct over and over again until it becomes the paradigm which the culture as a whole accepts automatically, condemning alternatives to limbo, sublimely unconscious to the looming icebergs on the port bow.

People seem to know in the bones that that pouring good money after bad is not the way to save the earth. But through rewards and punishments, from infancy on we are encouraged to kneel a tht the alter of denial, to negate our creativity except when that creativity is enlisted to support the system. We are told that this is all there is, that it was ment to be, and that we can't change anything fundamentally.[/quote]

We seem to need the comfort of predictability, to be thankful when the next moment closely resembles the last, even if both bolster the common dysfunctionality. "The devil you know" kind of thing. And never mind that it has never really worked very well...... and it is not likely to work now.

We all want acceptance, and to limit that cognitive dissonance between us and the people that matter and the system that really matters.

But somewhere is that place we know that all this is wrong, that it doesn't really have to be like this , doesn't really have to continue like this until we are all dead on a dead planet. Joe Avarage what is 2+2? No, seriously tell me ok? Keeping up?
Somewhere we know that within the human spirit is a place of creativity so powerful and so encompassing , that given half a chance we can change this course, change this moment and change history.

Preface.

Typed it out just for you joe, because i am too lazy to use the scaner and OTR. =)
It's just a ride.

You got any data to support that, or is this just something you know in your gut?
and we seem to be losing the battle with the mighty virus as we breed it into our foodstuffs, our strains of bacteria that eat antibiotics for breakfast.
And yet life expectancy increases... I wonder why...
Our vaunted education systems produce graduates with great erudition in in-consequential matters, while illiteracy rises and the incompetent prevail.
And yet the Flynn effect is real, and average population IQ has been steadily rising through the 20th century. Worldwide average IQ seems to have risen about 30 points in the last century. 30 points.
And all the while nations become increasingly violent to each other as well as to themselves.
Seen any major wars since WWII?..

Free market economics is mathematically demonstrable as the only tractable way to approach optimizing production. In USSR, under planned economy, things were far worse in almost all ways -- life expectancy, environmental pollution, etc.

No, there's something wrong with people who make up their conclusions instead of dealing with reality.

But it does work. For example, it enables you to sit in front of your computer, the collective knowledge of humanity at your fingertips, and bitch about how everything sucks. not a single person in the world had anything remotely resembling such an opportunity a century ago.

I see. Lots of hot air, much wailing and gnashing of teeth -- but when the rubber meets the road, when it's time to actually support your wild claims, you have nothing.

Good to know. it's always useful to have an idea of who the blithering idiots are.

I am speaking for myself. I'm not letting the honours someone laid on me do the talking for me.

(Since you do seem to need others to speak for me: Nietzsche would say, I can't sleep on honours. Or as Buddha would say, merit is no merit.)

You are a moron. Do you know what risk valuation is? Do you know what life expectancy is? Do you know how it changed over the centuries?

hell, i bet you barely know how to count.

Yes, i do.

Then you have even less of an excuse.
Do you know what life expectancy is? Do you know how it changed over the centuries?
Yes, i do.
And yet you whine about the medical detriments of modern worlds, without mentioning the far greater medical benefits. So not only are you an idiot, you are an intellectually dishonest one.
You don't even own your ignorant mind, yet you want to bet me the world we live in?

Can you count? 2 + 2 = Free Trade.
Yes, you already linked those. A two-trick pony, eh?.. Isn't it miraculous how despite all of these horrible poisons you seem to think pervade our lives, our life expectancy keeps growing, and is nearly double what it used to be in the much more eco-friendly medieval Europe?.. And even though mercury has a deleterious impact on cognitive development, there has been a worldwide gain of 30 IQ points in the last century?
The article was writen for the Average Joe, not you, are you him? Pay attention to what i write.
That article was written by an idiot, not by me -- it was written by an idiot who has no clue about the big picture, an idiot who sees pollution and screams in terror, but who ignores modern medicine for example because it doesn't fit his preconceived narrative. it was written by an intellectually dishonest idiot. That idiot is you.

It was also written by an abject nincompoop who thinks 'average' people should be lied to, apparently.

Now take your medicine like a good boy, dear.
ps. and do your own home work.
What, your silly little Wiki links? The ones you post without contextualizing them in the framework of modern science, economy, and medicine?..

P.S. Free trade, dear boy, is a demonstrable net gain for all parties involved, as long as it's free. The problem with free trade, where there is a problem (which most of the world doesn't think there is, unlike USA) is corporate control of public policy, not free trade per se. I guess we can add economics to the long list of topics you know nothing about.

------------------
Do you think AIDS increased our life expectancy? Do you think cancer increased our life expectancy? Do you think quicksilver in our bodies increased life expectancy? Nuclear bombs? Constant wars? Last major war you want to know was when? Today, that’s when. America declaring war on entire globe and on its own citizens. “Hey, but look back on the days before today.” you say “People had it worse.” -- Yea, and I hated it back then too.

Yes, there are a medical institutions that care for us, but only when there is money involved in it, and now, if there is more money if you die than live, then you will die. Look up a word psychopaths.
They will hide cures from you. if that means that you will stay sick for longer now. and pay them now. They will make bigger profit margin on you. = The more psychos who have power over you = the more chance that you will be cheated, exploited and killed when you are worth more dead than alive. Even when you could have lived.
Unconditional Love for money without ethics is killing us all sooner than need be.

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0779147.html Causes of mortality in the world.

How do you from here:

https://www.cia.gov/library/publication ... index.html

Get here?

https://www.cia.gov/library/publication ... 6rank.html

Psychopaths, Parasites and rampant bureaucracy driven by the endless workforce turning labor into a tangible object = money is the system. Money that ever so slowly gets skimmed from the masses by a swindles like wars and taxes and for 100 years by a devious device that is called Federal Bank.

There can not be a free trade in this world for the system in world is not suited for that. The industrial complex system operating in our world in future will destroy us and the earth, and already has started to. That is what was referred to in the article about the industrial machine eating the planet.

Now these are the system/people who are leading us = the planet into the future with the technological marvels that allow total control. The free will of a 95% human race population completely in someone else’s hands… The hands of monster - The millitary Industrial Complex.

The elite have technology to save us… but i guess they don’t care and are starting to care less while I see that Orwellian future is inevitable, just like Romans lost a republic to unconscionable people who made a lot of money through machinations, schemes, murder, extortion, intimidation, lies and one day decided that they want the power over every one in Rome. The America and many other countries all over the world became virtual dictatorships (and have been for some time now) that are still under the guise of Democracy to majoraty of populace = you are one of them... .

Romans had 2000+ years of dictatorship. How many years will Earth have?

There seems to be historical rule that the more power government has over its people, the more likely there will be genocide.

What will happen when we start running out of resources? The human population is exploding despite all the hazards present in the modern world ? The technology is our savior for now, while we are needed, what will happen when we are no longer needed? Or wanted? Or possibly sustained?

Overpopulation/explosion/population growth globally (which there is) than tying to curb the population would be 1 child policy.(Like in China now) Now this is how it works = 2 people make 1 person who can only make another person if he has 1 more. Eg. four people make two. Two people make one… one….. see where this is going? And yet, the China is still overpopulating as I type this. And the weather is being a bitch...they say it is getting warmer. hmm.

I guess there always is an silver lining every where after all? We have found how to create viruses that target ethnic groups... great news.

I am not against free trade and technology, but we are not entering a golden age with these people in power. They have other plans, judging by the history of the modus operandi .
It's just a ride.
