I'd rather you killed them before they were conceived, or at least before they have a brain. The sooner the better. Birth control pills are a lot better way to control population than abortion, and something is not quite right with women that use abortion as their only way to control birth.
I tend to agree with you on this, Shah, but not because I am politically against abortion, because I definitely am not. I just think if you can get the morning after pill with no prescription, and really no one's permission, then it is safer and makes way more sense. Birth control can and does fail.

I've known many women who have had abortions, some more than one. Not one has been blithe or happy about it. And I doubt it's because of the pro-life propaganda, which is shameless and shameful at the same time. I think it is because women by and large know what they are doing when they opt for an abortion - they don't need people telling them it is wrong. I have never known a woman who felt as if she really had a choice, despite the political moniker "Pro-Choice." The reality is different: abortion should be available - and legal, it should go without saying - because women usually have no choice. It is one thing to say that a woman can drop a newborn off at a police station or hospital with no questions asked. It is quite another to demand a woman go through an entire pregnancy to get to that point, then be able actually to part with her infant in such a manner. The monetary, medical and social, familial expense of carrying a pregnancy to term is what makes abortion something many women feel they have to do. After all, once birth control has failed, or has not been used, and you have a pregnancy, the "choices" rapidly dwindle.

Wow. How many such women do you suppose exist that use abortion as their "only way" to control birth?

In America .. Oh, 50%

Seems girls (of poor/middle-class mothers) are more disposable in a "throwaway" society. Besides, there is presently a growing shortage of baby parts .. what better way to harvest organs, tissue etc than those who have never lived. A clean, never-lived girl's body is better than those who have lived some time and worn out the spare parts.

-DHodges-
I'm pro-abortion. I am strongly anti-baby.

-Shah-
What do you have against babies?

-DHodges-
Having a baby is incredibly selfish and destructive to the environment - especially American babies, which will generally have a very large carbon footprint.

Spoken like an insurance actuary!!

We will not run out of humans any time soon. There's billions of them. There is no need for more of them.

-tomas-
How many is 'no need for more', Mr. Bubbleman?

-DHodges-
The main reason, it seems, that people have children is because of unresolved issues from their own childhood. There is some psychological need to be on the other side of the relationship, and perhaps do things differently, or just to be the top dog.

-tomas-
Yup. If you can't run with the big dog, stay on the porch..

I think there are many. They don't deal with problems before they happen. In tropical countries like my own, people have evolved to be reactive, not proactive. In countries with harsh winters, proactivity may be more common. This is because their ancestors may not have survived by just living one day at a time.

I know a girl who is constantly taking abortive potions that cause her hemorrhages. She is very young, and doesn't have a stable sex partner -- she just sleeps around quite a lot. Maybe since she doesn't have a stable partner she hasn't decided to plan a form of birth control. IMO, what she needs is surgery. She already has one child, and it will be many decades before her fertility starts to decline.

I agree with Dave that we do have too many humans.

So when are you and Dave jumping off the cliff?

PS - Dave can write a couple of quickie life policies, just be sure he leaves QRS with a healthy endowment. Dan, Kevin, and David need to keep this site up and running :-)

PPS - Leave a little for Ryan Rudolph, he'll need some pocket money when he sets off on his 'tour of the world' on only $5.55 per day.

That was not nice. And too late now, as I already had babies.

First I have to buy a huge life insurance coverage, and then wait two years. Plus, a generous health policy in case I survive.
