Laird,
Yes: so that the unity of God can be at once a multitudinous expression of love.
I'm not sure what you mean by this. It's possible we would part ways here to some extent, as I do not think that love would be the sole expression of such an entity. There is no love in a random tornado, a tsunami, starvation, poverty, crime, etc. For an evolutionary "God" to ensure its own existence, it would have to accede to these unlovely realities, no?

Then again, it's possible that if such an entity existed, it would know something I don't. In fact, it almost surely would, so I'm not necessarily raising a huge objection here, just throwing some thoughts around.
Thanks Nat, it's been stimulating for me too. I sensed a kindred spirit when I read that you dissolved your salvationism with the help of folk like Vic.
Well, just to clarify, while Victor did have a role in reliving me of certain religious ideas many years ago, he was not involved in my more recent abandonment of salvationism as a whole, which resulted primarily from studying Zen and Taoist writings. Although we now happen to share a number of philosophical perspectives, Victor and I are no longer friends in any sense and our more recent history has been one of extensive and heated conflict over social issues.

Perhaps we could see love in the sense of awe and wonder that these phenomena afford us.

Yes, it gets harder here. Perhaps: love is the wisdom of experience.

An insightful statement. Have you read Nagarjuna?

I have only just realised that it is my position. I have not read Nagarjuna.

Laird,
The only way to be right is to make no claims.
The trouble with this claim is that it expresses several underlying claims in an underhanded fashion. For example, it makes the claim that anyone who makes any claims is wrong by default.

So in my eyes at least, the claim you make here is duplicitious at best, and even hypocritical.

However, it is a fashionable claim these days. It fits in nicely with postmodernism, which is the current religion of our times. So you're not alone here.

I have also met a woman who described something similar whereby she literally saw the strings of the puppeteers attached to the limbs of the people around her - in terms related to my own experience: that we are subject to forces of consciousness/will that are beyond our individual consciousnesses.

On a more serious note, yes, I do think there are very interesting parallels with all those notions of universal consciousness, Brahman, etc. Merging Meaning with Being sounds like third-rate mysticism, but it is also a rather interesting technological question.

Getting back to the topic at hand…
Victor,

I am much more interested in the idea of becoming pure meaning.
We already are, just that we don’t realize it.

If a thought can move the muscles accordingly, what makes one think that it is all only due to a material involvement? How do facial expressions of a smile or a frown come about? Isn’t it a thought that controls the muscles? And isn't it that a thought is but a process; a result of interactiveness of things itself?

On the other hand, a though is not words, but yet the meaning remains. (I have heard many say that words are pointers; that finger pointing to the moon thing; but I wonder how many really know or understand what it really means). Even animals work through "meanings", not words, but it is quite difficult for us to comprehend that since we cannot let go of the material side of existence, since we have scientific proofs for it, whereas animals are not even aware what science is, and yet can operate coherently.
Laird,

Addition: the perceptions and conceptions that I described above could account for the experience of deja vu.
Sure, but do you really know why or how could that even be possible?
Nat,

Interesting. I tend to think of it more in terms of a a universal consciousness being achieved in the future
In a sense yes, but it still remains as an individual consciousness that is aware of the rest of totality, but is not totality itself. It’s logical deduction remains intact, but the perspective turns entirely different due to certain experiences, hence operates through a different perspective, and a different "personality" that depends on how his particular values have been carved up according to his logical deductions, which he most uniquely interprets himself, for himself alone.

However, there is no such thing as a SINGLE UNIVERSAL CONSCIOUSNESS in CONTROL of all; each consciousness by itself is unique, and remains such until it dissipates, dissolves, looses its particular identity temporary held in memory as and how causality can temporarily hold, and then change into a different level of identity, consciousness; which one can consider to be of a higher or a lower form. But, “consciousness” as it is, does not and cannot come to an end, for there is neither a beginning nor an end to it, nor to what it depends on (what we know as empirical) interactively - or say - causality.
Laird,

On the one hand we can speak of "leading to its creation" (a temporal process) yet on the other we can describe this as a timeless entity (a temporal-less beingness). Does this ring the discordance bell in your mind too? I don't think that at this point my mind contains the conceptual structure to properly envisage the nature of this being.
Yes, it is quite difficult to envisage such a scenario unless experienced, but it is quite possible to comprehend IF one can keep an open mind and be open to certain probabilities. I can try explaining if you are interested.

Laird, I will get back to your other post in the other thread later; for now, I feel that you have somehow already judged me from a single post of mine. Are you that good a psychologist? Well… time will tell…
Nat,

Agreed. I don't think that such an entity would be fully comprehensible to more limited beings such as ourselves.
You nitwit! :D What the hell tells you that you are limited? Empiricism?
And finally, David,

It's certainly an interesting topic if you are looking to be distracted in science-fiction la-la land.
It is not polite to point fingers at others in a demeaning way, for the simple reason that you may not have (more correctly – you cannot) experienced what others have, so your judgment of others will always fall short because it depends on your experiences, and necessarily YOUR interpretations of them. Have you forgotten your own Ultimate Truth? Causality my friend… causality. And the same applies to all, including me. So don’t get all upset at Victor; it is quite clear how any thing said to be Ultimately Ultimate, necessarily needs at least consciousness to be around, and that necessarily depends on what you call an “illusory” world. So what is so logically Ultimately Ultimate about absolutely any particular thing at all? Including Causality.
Given this, you can't separate meaning from an information stream in the same way that you can separate an information stream from its material substratum. Meaning is always specific and firmly tied to specific pieces of information.
Yes, agreed; meaning cannot be separated from information, but information is not necessarily tied down to words or definitions. Is it?

You see, existence operates irrelevant of definitions, so I could essentially place, not definitions them selves, but the profound VALUE I place ON them, in a place that Victor suggested… something about a sunshine-less place… and I wouldn’t feel any discomfort at all…

Sapius, thank you for your writings, I enjoyed thinking through your post; you affirm me through your expression.
Victor: I am much more interested in the idea of becoming pure meaning.

Sapius: We already are, just that we don’t realize it.
Just as we might become conscious that we are largely unconscious of our consciousness, and that this trick is granted only those in whom God invests moral responsibility? Such is the nature of my pain that I believe myself to be succumbing to the trick, and yet my moral responsibility pales in comparison to your own. My semi-conscious desire in my first post was probably to stimulate affirmation of the direction that my moral compass is pointing me, but in which fear and lack of faith in God drains my power to effect. I believe that your story is the hope that I was seeking to attract. Now you know why I am interested to know your path.
Sapius wrote:If a thought can move the muscles accordingly, what makes one think that it is all only due to a material involvement? How do facial expressions of a smile or a frown come about? Isn’t it a thought that controls the muscles? And isn't it that a thought is but a process; a result of interactiveness of things itself?
And how far does thought's power extend beyond the body? Do you suggest that we co-create the illusion of reality? I lean towards a more materialist stance, by which I think that we could reach the co-creationist position through two technologies: nanotechnology and thought-responsive technology (think 'up' and the thought-responsive TV remote changes up a channel - such technology has been around for a few years although I haven't kept up with its progress).

What if we are constantly re-inventing the co-creationist position? Through nano-technology and thought-responsive technology we achieve ultimate mind-power, but in which our thoughts drag us back to the structured materialism that we previously knew (we fear God's power) and we are forced to re-cycle our technology to again arrive at our (God's) position of rightful control: unity of all mind(s) and unlimited realisation of imagination.

I answer my own question: then we should seek the elimination of fear. As is written in Dune, "fear is the mind-killer".

Perhaps what I have described above is why you write "We already are, just that we don’t realize it." Fear stops us from realising it. There is no such thing as fear.
Laird: Addition: the perceptions and conceptions that I described above could account for the experience of deja vu.

Sapius: Sure, but do you really know why or how could that even be possible?
God loves us through realisation. Deja vu is a realisation that God is beyond time.
Nat: Interesting. I tend to think of it more in terms of a a universal consciousness being achieved in the future

Sapius: In a sense yes, but it still remains as an individual consciousness that is aware of the rest of totality, but is not totality itself.
Yes, God manifests in the unlimited illusions of restriction.
Sapius wrote:However, there is no such thing as a SINGLE UNIVERSAL CONSCIOUSNESS in CONTROL of all
In other words, God is not united: God is expressed in division. I seek to unite us all under God.
Laird: On the one hand we can speak of "leading to its creation" (a temporal process) yet on the other we can describe this as a timeless entity (a temporal-less beingness). Very. Please elaborate.
Sapius wrote:Laird, I will get back to your other post in the other thread later; for now, I feel that you have somehow already judged me from a single post of mine. Are you that good a psychologist? Well… time will tell…
I would be more pleased if you expressed it as "understood and affirmed me" rather than "judged me". Judgement implies a good/bad duality. I do not want to imagine that I could conceive of you as bad. Understanding and affirmation implies a good/better duality. It pleases me to think that I help you to become better (and you me). [edited to insert the concept of understanding]

It is irrational to suppose that rationality has no limitations. Likewise, it is illogical to believe that logic can transcend its own dualistic nature. Paradox is the transcendent context within which logic and rationality have their existence.

It is also irrational (and presumptuous) to admonish someone else to "make your life worth living" when you have no way of knowing whether or not that is already the case.

Since rationality (and logic) can deal with anything at all, including The All, it is not limited in what it can deal with.

Any limitations come from the person attempting (or otherwise) to be rational, and not from rationality itself.
Likewise, it is illogical to believe that logic can transcend its own dualistic nature.
This depends on how you define "logic". If you define logic to be mere symbols, then logic can't do much at all. But, to me, logic is really about the meaning of the symbols. And the meaning of the symbols is not limited.

For example, in your above sentence you are using logic to talk about a transcendent state, which means that logic can deal with it.
Paradox is the transcendent context within which logic and rationality have their existence.
Rather, I would say that "paradox" is a word we use when we don't fully understand something.
