Partisan Issues....

Post by daybrown »

seem to generate debate as a contest rather than looking for solutions. Like:

Why go on about torture since it is obsolete? There are new, and much more effective lie detection techniques.
Why go on about abortion when there are herbs that will cause a miscarriage, and it dont matter what the law is.
Why go on about global warming, when the question is not how to stop it, but how to adapt to it?
Why go on about healthcare, when it dont matter how much money you throw at it, there's not enuf nurses to deliver it, be it socialiazed or private.
Why go on about 911 without a court to decide what "evidence" is?

Who cares about the solution when there's votes to be had by exploiting the issues!

Who the fuck cares about any of that stuff? Ultimately, what does any of it have to do with Enlightenment? Do you realize this is a philosophy board, and that the definition of Genius, as it applies here, means one who is enlightened and in touch with the Infinite? You prattle endlessly about history, politics and sociology like we are a Mensa group. You never speak of anything deeper. Wtf?

Four Zen monks were meditating in a monastery. All of a sudden the prayer flag on the roof started flapping. The younger monk came out of his meditation and said: "Flag is flapping" A more experienced monk said: "Wind is flapping" A third monk who had been there for more than 20 years said: "Mind is flapping." The fourth monk who was the eldest said, visibly annoyed: "Mouths are flapping!"

It dpes indeed have to do with the mouths flapping. Since this is the 'worldly matters' list, its worth considering what the mouths flap about, and then what effect that has on the meditations, among other things.

One explanation has to do with the mass neurosis, as partisans talk past each other to feed their egos, wanting the controversy more than the resolution. Its like a 3D video game where the options are limited to what the software provided, ignoring many others that are reasonable, but literally impossible to think within the mind frame of the game.

In a world of multiple personality schizoids, the one minded man would be king, but nobody in his right mind wants to rule over fools, which the Zen master would no doubt understand.

You don't like to speak directly to anyone, do you, daybrown. It seems like you like to whistle in the air a bit, after someone confronts you, and then go right back to pontificating on subjects related and less related to whatever discussion is going on.

Think what you will, if that's what you call it, but I started this thread. Feel free not to read anything I post. I asked for some input on why partisan issues are limited to the rhetoric rather than a wider search for common ground, or even the acceptance of some realities that have changed since the debate started.

Case in point is abortion, which has gone on for decades. But in the meantime, archaeologists have gone into obscure museums in Transylvania with modern forensic gear to identify the pollens and plant resins that are still in the pots to find out what the real witches were brewing up.

With those clues, modern search engines have gone into ancient texts and found some recipes. You dont havta read far between the lines to realize the bishops began burning witches in the 5th century because of their 'family planning' services. And now, some of that data is posted, eg: http://www.sisterzeus.com/qaluse.htm

The abortion debate is over. Why is it still going on? It dont *matter* what the court says. Have you got a clue, or just a rant? In any case, if its any comfort, nobody else seems to have a clue either.

Maybe because not many people know about these herbs. I just heard it from you. The church and the medical industry would have a motif for keeping it under wraps or discrediting it.

I checked a wiki article on abortion, and found this,

'The use of herbs in such a manner can cause serious — even lethal — side effects, such as multiple organ failure, and is not recommended by physicians.'

Sorry, I'm calling you on your 273 posts in a month and half where your are mostly just singing your own tunes, prattling on about anything you wish, offering your clever and well-read opinions regardless of thread subject, as though every thread was your own personal blog space. Have you wondered why nearly no one responds to you?
Feel free not to read anything I post.
Thanks.

i have been posting about herbal abortificants and birth control for a few years now. The silence is just deafening. At first, you'd think the feminists & femonazis would be delighted, but when I post to them, nobody gives me any feedback.

No, what's going on is that they have an *issue*, and they want to beat the right to lifers over the head with it. They are not actually interested in empowering *other* women to run their own lives. If the abortion rights people were really interested in promoting the welfare of women, they'd setup websites and clinics to take case histories on the women who have tried herbal alternatives.

Of course, any woman who had a herbally induced miscarriage would go to her doctor to make sure there were no complications, as she would with any other kind of miscarriage.

Naturally, lots of plants and fungi evolved a defense against herbivores getting a habit of eating them by causing sterility and abortion. And naturally, the church did everything it could to suppress that knowledge, and was so successful that people dont even think about this. And naturally, there's a lotta variation from one ecosystem to another, one species to another, and one woman to another. Its why pillboxes have warnings on side effects.

I have been asked in email to recommend something, but just as in conventional medicine, no practioner would prescribe without being in a position to follow up on unintended results. I recommend that women contact a local witch who can be there to identify symptoms, know whether the woman has health insurance to cover the cost of the hospital visit, or make do with just a doctor.

One reason you dont hear about this is that in many areas witches understandably keep a low profile. But one reason "The Craft" is attracting so many young women are the powers of plants & fungi to deal with problems. Most people have not heard of the German Commission E Monograph on herbs either.

The German government funded scientific double blind studies (last I saw) of 380 herbs in the German market, and found scores of herbs of *proven* therapeutic value. The US government has extensively tested one herb in the name of public health: cannabis. You'd think that those arguing about socialized medicine would pick up on this, but both sides are so focused on the mind frame of the debate that they cant be distracted by ways of actually solving problems for people. Like dramatically cutting the cost of medicine.

Again, the partisans want the controversy, and dont want a resolution. You can take these points to other lists, as I have, and see the silence is deafening. The blind partisanship is tearing the republic apart.

Back to whistling in the air. I should have known by your kiss-off, "Feel free not to read anything I post" that you don't want to face it.

You're just a bored blogger using this forum to air your various views (and show others how smart you are). You apparently don't care a whit for the actual tenets of this forum -- - Truth, Courage, Honesty, Logic, Masculinity, Wisdom, Perfection - as they apply to the quest for Enlightenment. you don't want to be confronted on any of these issues as they relate to you, possibly because they lie outside your interest, and probably because you are comfortable with your self-denial of how you actually think and manifest in the world.

Rattle on, brother.

I would suggest this might be because such herbs, whilst arguably effective, are considered dangerous, (indeed, are known to be so). Natural doesn't mean safe. Herbal doesn't mean safe.

Thanx for the link to Rachel. looks useful.
A dozen years ago, I thot to add a metallic touch button to my pc, which was in a wood case. I figured that like a lamp base, when I touched it, it would not only turn on the PC, but also ground out any static in me. So, I looked it up, got some 555 chips, and wired the little bugger up. Didnt work. I checked the diagram several times over a week or so, and the DVM said it as all working, but it just didnt.

So, since I was headed up there, I took it over to Collin's house. It worked fine there. The diff? My house was run off solar panels, and the PC and everything in it ran off DC. Collin's place was standard 110AC. The point was that the 60 cycle hertz wiring in the walls was putting out EMF that was being absorbed by every body in the building, and that level of exposure would increase in direct proportion to the number of watts being used.

DC does not emit EMF. Its like a bar magnet; no wave. It just sits there. The national autism rate is posted at 1 out of 166. the rate in my neck of Ozark woods is perhaps 1:4000; its kinda hard to tell because the population is so low that you dont really have enuf subjects to get beyond the .01 level. But in any case, even if the home is on the grid, these are farm kids who spend a lot more time outside, and the houses inside are not often gussied up with the latest electronic gizmos. And of course, Amish kids dont get exposed to 60 cycle AC EMF waves at all. Their rate is posted at 1:15,000.

Hominids did not evolve over the last million years with a 60 cycle AC hum in their inner ears. Nobody really knows what the effect is cause nobody has really looked for any.

Sure. I can think of only 3-4 "people" here that can keep their minds on cruise control and stay above the petty frays. Arguing what Nietzsche meant you may as well get a can of pork n beans from a century ago and see what it tasted like. It just ain't gonna be the same to two different people much less several hundred on this board. It's lost in the germanic translation.

Not on top of the video game thing, i gave that crap up in the early-mid 1980s - complete waste of time. Never really was into it, too easy and a waste of life's energy. Time is short on this earth and best to make use of what little is left...

Yeah, i tend to concentrate on a handful of the posters here and absolutely avoid the long-timers here who are "constantly" posting in 10 different threads every week (as they having nothing new to pique the mind), just the same over-n-over ranting.

I've enjoyed a very few newbies who come and go, the 5-10 posts and they are then-enlightened enough to move on. Kinda like Kevin Solway's visit to the USA. Hit-n-get. Take it all in then get outta dodge while still maintaining sanity-enough to learn future lessons of here and now.

Good luck with that. But if money is to be had, then somebody also hasta make it doing something that sells in the global economy. Or at least growing food for local consumption.

Nowhere is the problem of boomer retiring more obvious than the fact that the *average* farmer is now 61. What these guys know is not something you can pick up in a community college. Much of it academia even at the graduate PHD level dont know about. The schools focus on the visual page, blackboard, charts, etc. But much of what these old farts know is the way soil *FEELS* when its the right time to plow. The way a crop smells when its being cut, and the sound of the machinery when its working at maximal efficiency.

In nursing, I bet there are clinical conditions that have a certain smell. Or the way a voice sounds when the lungs are not working the way they should, or how sound muscle feels different from fat. And so on thru the other trades that are now being done by boomers. I dont see nearly enuf competent replacements coming.
