Indeed, it is due to our choosing to accept or reject
that we do not see the true nature of things.
The more you think and talk,
The more you lose the Way.
Cut off all thinking
And pass freely anywhere.
Even to be attached to the idea of enlightenment
is to go astray.
Words!
The Way is beyond language.
Ahahah I just found this shit in some Zen poem by some big shot Zen patriarch and its basically what i've been saying the whole time. I have scripture to back up my empty words~!!
Lol

There's no better gift to give someone than to show them an error in their thinking. If they correct it then their whole life permanently improves, at least a little bit. And not only their own life, but the lives of the people around them. There's really no reason not to learn how to do this as well as possible.

That is an excellent Zen teaching, but you are not even close to understanding its true meaning or putting it into practice. For, as with Unidian, your life is still filled with discrimination and attachment. For example, you discriminate between "hot babes" and other things.Indeed, it is due to our choosing to accept or reject

There is also discrimination between hand and toilet paper when I wipe my ass, so as not to get stinky dirty hands.David Quinn wrote: That is an excellent Zen teaching, but you are not even close to understanding its true meaning or putting it into practice. Even when there is discrimination in my life, I do not discriminate. Even when there is attachment, I am not attached.

I am very stupid, and fake, and like you said, hypocritical.
Who are you?
Actually it is probably a good example as to why one should pay little emotional attention to the words of buddhists.
One minute they say one thing, the next they say another. As enlightened people, if they cannot phrase things properly, namely dualistically, then they should get no respect.
I must buy a Fuck the Buddha T-Shirt.

These words roll off your tongue far too easily for my liking. It's as though you don't care.I am very stupid, and fake, and like you said, hypocritical.
A man with a conscience.Who are you?

What does this mean? You think it's awesome to not care if you are stupid, fake, and hypocritical?hades wrote:What can I say? I'm just awesome like that.hades:I am very stupid, and fake, and like you said, hypocritical.

Matt said What's not dualistic about it? All words are dualistic by logical necessity.
Thats just how words are formed. But concepts themselves can be communicated in a non dualistic fashion - the intent of the communication can be non-dualistic. David for example states many things in a non-dualistic fashion, and has to be pressed to admit that the opposite is also equally valid.
Take "Form is emptiness and emptiness is form".
It is partly a dualistic sentence, but conceptually as a total statement it is not. And that is why it is so pathetic, that is why people have so much trouble with this stuff.
We automatically rationally know it is bullshit, although emptiness is a form of form, form is not emptiness. It is simply irrational to think form does not have qualities. One can only make form into emptiness by defining even more form - by qualifying what emptiness means.
One could as easily say "Form is Fullness, and Fullness is form", and this would be as true as the previous statement. Half true.
A true dualistic statment would be "Form is both empty and full, real and not real".
From this point one can begin to correctly look at individual acpects to determine how and why the whole concept is true.
What I'm saying won't make much sense to you, probably should not have used that phrase as an example, but I couldn't be bothered to think of an another one.
Nagarjuna said "Since the intrinsic being of all entities does not exist in their causes and conditions, either together or separately, or in any way at all, they are empty."
This sentence is not rational. To me the intrinsic being of all entities, of all partially defined things IS their causes and conditions, or in my terms, their causal nature and relativities. They are certainly NOT empty.
Those who express statements of truth non-dualistically are essentially religious. They are folks who emotionally only accept one side of an situtation, because it suits their ego, and then deem that to be all that the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

I know that you meant that you think it is awesome that you do not care, period - but that includes being stupid, fake, and hypocritical - which in the dualistic level of reality puts you quite at odds with posting on a philosophy forum. So why are you here?hades wrote:Elizabeth wrote: What does this mean? You think it's awesome to not care if you are stupid, fake, and hypocritical?
Very close. Try again

I'm very stupid, so I come here to learn.
I don't know why people keep asking me questions though...I hate it.

You parrot that like you were trained to respond that way. If you come here to learn, then you do care enough to not want to be stupid. That is a good thing.hades wrote:I'm very stupid, so I come here to learn.
Okay, I'll leave you alone for awhile.hades wrote:I don't know why people keep asking me questions though...I hate it.
