say you think the thought 1 then the thought 2.
Each thought is associated with a particular chemical arrangement in the brain. And so the numbers 1 and 2 must have chemical arrangements that associate with them.
Now how does the chemical arrangement of the number 1 *morph* into that of the chemical arrangment for the number 2.
One is tempted to say that there has to be a thinker who controls the thoughts so the chemical arrangments know what to do.
I disagree with this and aim to show that the thoughts and the *you* are one and the same thing.
If you assume that the thoughts and the thinker are different then we must explain the causal nature of the relationship between the two.I.e how does the thinker control the thoughts.
Lets say that the thinker uses a magnetic field that is spread in such a way as to alter the chemical structure of the thought space.
Now i say that that will be pointless because all the information in the chemical arrangement is contained in the magnetic field so why not use *it* as the descriptor of thoughts.
We can take this further and say that whatever causal structure that caused the passing of information between the *you* and the magnetic field could be used instead as the basis of thoughts because *it* must have all the information that the magnetic field as well because it has to pass it on to it.
This i hope proves that the thinker and the thought have to be one since the user is the limit of the series of the representation descent
That i explained above .
Just as 0.9999... never stops terminating but is equal to 1. (its limit).
The question now is , when our thoughts change , since we *are* the thoughts , do *we* change along with the thoughts?
This reminds me of the parable of the "you only exist while reading this sentence" statement.
What do you think?

You might say thoughts are an extension of the thinker, but there is more to the thinker than thoughts.
Even if our thoughts don't change, we (the thinker) are changing. The question now is , when our thoughts change , since we *are* the thoughts , do *we* change along with the thoughts?

What does the identity of an individual mean with this in mind?divine focus wrote:Even if our thoughts don't change, we (the thinker) are changing.
Do you become a totally different person from one moment to the next even if the memory structure is unchanged?
I beleive that the "user" is a function of the 5 senses , memory and what i like to call an "association engine"
The 5 senses and memory are the 6 inputs while the association engine calculates what the next thought should be by first finding ,in memory, associations between the current thought and the senses .
Since the association engine is the only thing that does not change , it has a prominent place in the identification of the you.
This is all philosophy since i havent read anything on how the brain works.

The identity of the individual is in the thinker, so as the thinker changes the identity changes somewhat as well. You could say the thinker is different in every moment, but there is a building on or discovering that adds, so to speak, to the identity.

The association engine does change. It doesn't make the same associations necessarily throughout your life. It's place in your identification depends on where you identify, mentally or [other]. The identification mentally is somewhat subconscious, but in some senses you know who you are, regardless of the mental. The mental or associative function is a part of who you are and is colored, so to speak, by who you are. That coloring is what is absolute to you, in that you can't put it aside. You can't put you aside.I beleive that the "user" is a function of the 5 senses , memory and what i like to call an "association engine"
