All of reality is a singular interconnected system, this is especially obvious concerning human social networking. And actually there is a video up on ted.com that shows the evolution of social systems in graphical representation. Thus, to lie, is to cause harm to your own self, as you are part of this social network. "for we are members of one another".
"Let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Gal. 6:9

Interpretation

Endure, for what we reap we will sow.
Interpretation:

If you do anything out of selfishness, then you suffer the resistence to the task, however, if you do not resist the task and perform it for the sake of performing it, then you will reap the true fruit of your labor. Preceding verse: "8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature[a]will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."

"Ye ought to say, If the Lord will. James 4:15

Interpretation

Spread the word of Jesus
Interpretation:

Do not do anything of your own will, and make plans to do this or that in the future, but rather say to yourself "If the Lord wills it", for your will is not your own (determinism). But everything you do is the will of the Lord.

Context: 13Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." 16As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. 17Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" 2 Cor. 4:17

Interpretation

A moment of distress works for us exceeding a lifetime of valuable glory.
Interpretation:

This is about changing yourself, affecting your "soul" rather than attaching yourself to transient pleasures. It is distressing work to change who you are, and this doesn't seem to relate directly to physical labor, except to the extent that it affects your "soul".

Context: 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

"Ye shall be witnesses unto me" Acts 1:8

Interpretations

You will witness the glory of God.
Interpretation:

The context is, Jesus speaking to his disciples, but I don't disagree with the interpretation.

EyeofJesus: I'm impressed with your knowledge and keen wit to express it in such rapid time and with precision as to the written Bible. Although, my interpretations are Bible intended they were expressed from my own insight which would not cause a believer to sway. I thought this was obvious.

Obey The Ten Commandments is all Jesus expects from us. Being open-minded to the possibility that God is nothing more than figments of our imaginations or great writer scholars of the past, a conjure of minds who built the book of greatness, to bring structure into people's lives, a book of virtues to live by, proverbs and great wisdom to refer to. Yes, the possibility that the Word of God is bullshit, reigns in non-believers minds everywhere. However, to obey The Ten commandments seems like an easy set of rules to follow, so as not to deny the great one I shall continue to be obedient to the word of God.

Jesus doesn't care if we smoke pot or drink wine so long as we do it in moderation, not to drink to excessiveness. It wouldn't be wise for a pregnant woman to drink alcohol, for she is subjecting the precious fetus to intoxication. Women should be sued for consuming alcohol or drugs while pregnant. This is thoughtlessness to the first degree of ignorance, and it is a crime to let it go undisciplined.

I would like to see a law in order forbidding females from consuming alcohol or drugs while pregnant. And if ever caught or ratted on, they spend the rest of their pregnancy in an institution where the fetus's rights can be protected. And anyone who rats out a woman guilty of such is protecting the fetus and should be handsomely rewarded.

Mensa says, EyeofJesus says, Seeing Eye says: Trouble-maker!

Mensa-maniac says: You had no valid reason for blocking mensa-maniac from getting back in, but you cannot stop me from using the name mensa-maniac regardless if the username differs. Now, I'm not able to use mensa-maniac's account, you've created trouble for me. Now, if you delete my present registration as SeeingEye like you deleted EyeofJesus, you will be forcing me to repeatedly register under a different username, in which you'll continue to delete because you say I have at least one account active I can use, well no I don't.

And any other account I have here at the forum doesn't do me one little iota of good, they are useless to me, because I have my main one. So I am forced to create another account because you deny my main account access to the forum. So everytime you decide to boot me off because of your personal vandetta against me, you are creating unnessary trouble for me. So please knock it the fuck off will ya and have some respect!

I apologize everyone for using Dan as my scape goat, when I realized Dan had no reason to ban me, it was then I realized my own mistake of putting in the wrong password.

Whatever audience you are addressing... I have a rather unattached view of Christianity. I am neither for or against it as such. Defining what it is would be a starting point... The thing is, my view of Christianity fundamentally involves radical ways of using your mind in thought. By that I don't mean irrational or illogical. The problem is one rather of personal acuity in logic and perception. One needs to cultivate an articulated thinking process and refine concepts without bias. To be able to regard all doctrine with no attachment is a rare skill. The Bible itself is subject to reproof, if one can reprove it, one can figure out the riddle. But ultimately one reproves it by an exercise of their own mind and not by allegiance to the written word. The written word is only a guide, it is a highly valuable guide in the right hands, but in the wrong hands it can be used for evil. Therefor the truth transcends the written word, the word is only linguistic after-all, and most of us can't read Hebrew or Aramaic. In that light it is important to put the Bible into the context of your life, rather, I suppose, than putting your life in the context of the bible.

In my view of the Bible, I never lose sight of the fact that everything in it is a riddle. I don't take any of it at face value, partially because it is repeatedly stated throughout the text that it ought not be taken at face value. The authorship is actually quite genius in my opinion, one might even say "divinely inspired". It is like an unfolding onion if one examines it closely. To read the parables that continuously unlock greater insights upon themselves. Even though I say that my point of view requires a lot of practice and theory, it is not uncommon in Christianity that people aspire to the esoteric teachings or the secret teachings of Christ. I'm not solely Christian however, I'm not really a Christian at all, but if one entertains the mindset and searches for that hidden wisdom one might actually find it. It is subject to reproof.

I think one way to look at the Ten Commandments is as a set of laws by which you must abide or else face the wrath of some deity. But, there is another way of looking at it, which is that they are statements of fact. They are in-fact saying that one ought to transform their mind into the commandments and understand fundamentally why that is important. What does it mean to feel as if your neighbor is yourself? As in, love thy neighbor as thyself. How is that possible? When a person contemplates this they are effectively 'meditating' on compassion as the monks do. All that these rituals are, are to get people into a mindset upon which they 'meditate'. Now, meditation in another respect, with respect to neurophysiology serves to actually alter the patterns of activations and course of neuroplastic development, as one might expect in the case of all thought and neural activation. In other words, one actually becomes more compassionate through compassion meditation, contemplation of what its like to be your neighbour, or what it means to be in unity with an infinite deity. This does not mean however that physical reality is the final reality, the brain is as much an objective of the subjective. But, I've spoken too many words about this without emphasizing the absolute need for self-denial expressed throughout the text. It is a very important part of the unfolding of the onion, one must be able to step over themselves somehow to grasp the truth of it, neither seeking comfort in it, nor rejecting it from distaste. One has to evolve with the understanding of it, like develop their character, in actual fact along with their understanding of reality. Make themselves.

In making oneself, it is important to realize what is of good use and what is not. This is where many of the commandments or parables come in useful, because they illustrate by use of some command or parable what ought to be understood. If you understood your relationship with reality as being punished or rewarded and it was your being wise that made the difference. That is to say that "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours wife" is not a command any more or less than it is a statement of fact. If you go around coveting your neighbours' wives you are going to find yourself in a heap of trouble, because the laws governing your mind and the minds of others will invariably bring about suffering. The commandments is perceived to be a statement of an inevitable outcome; suffering, if one were to covet their neighbour's property. The laws suggest that one who covet's their neighbour's property will be covetous at heart, always longing for what is not theirs and never satisfied with what they have. That itself is a torment, yet one could easily live without covetousness and not suffer it.

I'm going on a bit, but I'm trying to say something, and this is my justification. People are always making justifications for not doing what they ought to, and going on the easy road. It takes a lot of effort to correct oneself and accepts ones ignorance and complete invulnerability. Sayings, teachings get tossed around like fliers, few hear them or understand them. It is much easier to cop-out. Listen, sometimes people get angry and they say "I need to let it out" and they find something to punch or kick, or they scream in anger, and they think they have vented or released the anger. Well this is only true in part, and therefor not true at all, the anger never goes anywhere, it is simply obeyed and satiated for the time. But its appetite is of infinite potential, to the degree that it is fed it will grow. One has to fight the anger, not by getting angry at it, but by loving which induces a change in perspective. The goal not being to love them in a ridiculously attached or infantile way, but to alter one's own conscious perception out of the state of being angry. And to love, in the sense of unconditional love, or agape, is the truth. So as to say, one should not be angry ever, but should love unconditionally. Do not vent anger, but love unconditionally. This sort of thing is possible only by abandoning justification for not doing it.

I know it, we can choose, but if we choose a certain direction we are gonna find it hard to go back. And yet we know not what awaits us most of the time because we are chasing wants and needs rather than wisdom or truth. So a single man thinks that he can fantasize about women all he wants because he has no companion, but he betrays himself in so doing, because he alters his own perception of reality and inevitably suffers the consequence of disillusionment. As it is with all of the "sins" they are primarily crimes against oneself, as well as others, but as all people are of one body, so are they. Due to the nature of the Bible, I mean not to make any clear claim to its truth or falsity, but express my view on what it means to me. I'm not more attached to it as a statement of truth than the Tao, I find that in contemplating the Tao Te-Ching a different but equally complex array of thought and feeling arises. All of it is in some way indicative of a truth which transcends it all, a perennial philosophy. However, not one which is owing to any individual humans but exists in and of itself. Such that, it is neither mine nor anyone else's philosophy. Yet it is my philosophy insofar as it operates within me.
