False. Being a student of thought doesn't mean having the mentality of a medieval, body hating, Christian dogmatic.

Nobody said that students of thought must invariably be
medieval, body hating, Christian dogmatics.
Nobody said you were a medieval, body hating, Christian dogmatic,
nobody said you were a student of thought.

It was spoken that you were afraid of your own sexuality.
Boyan wrote:Success as in achievement does count to something, although only relatively, probably.
For example, if it wasn't for the scientific progress made by people who achieved success in something we wouldn't be communicating and generally life would've been much more difficult without the refrigerator, phone, transportation, hospitals etc...
The something to which
you say achievement counts
is hope.

Hope is the illusion of salvation,
it is what ties man to his miseries.
It trains his eyes on mirages,
rescuing him from the fundamental.

To value existence
according to how difficult it is
is not in accordance with the Way,
existence does not buy votes.
Boyan wrote:If it wasn't for the success in thinking made by profound thinkers, we would've been much poorer beings.
Humans think,
birds chirp,
and both are rich
in opportunity to do so.

Once dead they are the same dust.
Civilizations come and go and nobody remembers,
nature plays out in noise then silence then noise.
When this planet is enveloped by the sun,
all the success made by profound thinkers
will be of as much importance as the chirping of the birds.
Boyan wrote:And I am not here now, as now doesn't exist. Human beings live in the future all the time, point to the future possible events.
To employ your language,
it is the future and past
that do not exist,
and only now that does.

Humans do live in the future and the past,
this is sentience, it occurs
due to desire and its consequences.
Sentience is dream,
dream is when you live somewhere
that does not exist.

In order to cease living in the future and past,
see that things are born and then they die,
see that failure and success account to nothing,
see that life is fleeting,
see that you are here now.

Nobody said you were a medieval, body hating, Christian dogmatic,

It was spoken that you were afraid of your own sexuality.
You said that I see sexuality conflicting with spirituality. I said that is not so, and gave an example of those who held such views as to illustrate my point.

The something to which
you say achievement counts
is hope.
No. I said it counts, it has meaning relatively, as in relation to other people, like technological advances for example. Never mentioned hope.

Humans think,
birds chirp,
and both are rich
in opportunity to do so.

Once dead they are the same dust.
Civilizations come and go and nobody remembers,

You could've just said you are a nihilist who values nothing at the start of the thread.
To employ your language,
it is the future and past
that do not exist,
and only now that does.
I think quite a few physicists would disagree with you on that. There is no now. One moment becomes a past event in a second.
In order to cease living in the future and past,
see that things are born and then they die,
see that failure and success account to nothing,
see that life is fleeting,
see that you are here now.
So what if life is fleeting? And where does it fleets to if future does not exist?

You are unaware
that what you speak of
is hope.
Boyan wrote:You could've just said you are a nihilist who values nothing at the start of the thread.
Nothing outside the Way
is of any absolute value.
It is hope that causes you
to postpone that understanding.
Boyan wrote:I think quite a few physicists would disagree with you on that. There is no now. One moment becomes a past event in a second.
You can only ever be in now.
You cannot move to the future or past.
No matter how hard you try to move away from it,
now is always where you will find yourself.

Your understanding of this is deficient.
Perhaps you should sit
with those physicists that wear
their head backwards.
Boyan wrote:So what if life is fleeting?
Seeing this awakens, it is

From where does it fleet if
now does not exist?

Do not forget that i stipulated
my employment of your language.
Outside your language,
real and not real are the same.

Perhaps Damien describes "the mountain"?
The mountain that was originally seen as simply a mountain.
Then once questioned, was seen through as though a mere illusion.
But then again, upon final realization of the true nature of the mountain, the mountain was truly a mountain.
No more, no less.
Then again perhaps not?

Good god, I was joking about the avatar, following up on Pye's sarcastic remarks.

No. What I speak of is relative significance, for the third time.

Oh, ok I'll just phone Hawking and tell him you figured out the answer to whether time travel is physically possible. Time travel into the future via time dilation is possible, as time and space are relative. You just rationalize your ignorance about this. Time travel generally is theoretically possible. Their heads aren't absolutely backward, they are only backward in relation to your head.

I already know that life is fleeting, if you mean passing by that, as do all conscious humans.

From where does it fleet if
now does not exist?
From the past. Future becomes past in a split of a second.

Remember, Boyan, in the rubber-and-glue schematic, we are all glue. Damien's responses to others are just as revealing of his state of consciousness as ours are, as anyone's are. In one sense, a profound realization. In another, a no-brainer.

(interrupted)

For instance, I put his avatar and his thread title together to form a string of puns. Damien responds with humourlessness. He goes on to extrapolate that I am a member of the celibate boys club and have no interest in the Way. That reflects just as much about the state of his consciousness as my punning did in response to him.

'round and 'round we go . . . .

Boyan wrote:What I speak of is relative significance, for the third time.
Relative significance
plays out as hope.

People worship God,
people worship societal structure,
people worship imaginings
about their future selves.

Worship is a pointing to,
you point yourself at something.
When you point yourself at something,
you are worshipping it.

What is relatively significant
to any one person,
is that person's god,
that person's way.

All this
is an investment of hope.

Hope is a self-deception, always.
When one is tired of self-deception,
hope is renounced,
this happens by itself.
Boyan wrote:Why do you value the way?
Your question is in error.

When hope is invested in the Way,
it becomes a mere way.
When hope is renounced from a way,
the Way is being walked.

The Way opens to you
when you see no value in anything.
While you value things,
you will chase them rather than
coming to the Way.
Boyan wrote:Time travel into the future via time dilation is possible, as time and space are relative. Time travel generally is theoretically possible.
If a man went to the future,
he would have never left now.

The fact that time is relative
is the basis for the understanding
that one cannot leave now,
that past and future are nowhere.
Boyan wrote:Future becomes past in a split of a second.
You cannot carry now,
so you say it is not there.
When you try to pick it up,
it becomes future and past.

You can carry the future,
you can carry the past,
these things are dead.
They are nothing but
atrophied ideas.

Now is alive,
you cannot carry a living thing,
you cannot name it,
you cannot step in the same river once.

Laugh...

Your humour without the wit.
Egoless but without the schism of split.
That which you walk is observation still.
Can you allow structure in your world?
Can you cary the burden and integrate still?
Or did you lose Occidental memory on your way?
This is not play, this is not wit.
This is pure reliance on observation still.
Mind as a mill and devouring off hill.
Beware my best, before causality comes,
and calls for the kill.

Bakunin, Stirner and Marx.
Those who polemified which is eternal together and destructive in spit.
Are you going for the same ravage of mind?
Not of society still, that which is termed spirit or belief through will.
Can you handle worldly structures and connect, think and create still?

Your mind is fighting spirits high and mountains without will.

I would call your character in the written above:

"That which makes things fit and does not wit".

Disclaimer:
Those who are in constant flux of insight and still,
those are in the spheres of open intuition,
don't get lost and retain your will,
confront that which flows and is without grasping will,
to use your picture with the feeling of fun and thunder,
shall the penetration of that beautiful arse be as pun and asunder,
then observe and be still,
as if insight is predicted as if the way is contemplated out of will,
there you found yourself better and with will,
keep up the good works and do your research on logos and physis still.

They call him diogenes and kynic or such and such,
I in this little improvisation: "healthy and sound" or more precisely "will",
He who supposedly kept his breath and died still.
