What do you mean my logic is totally messed up?
Perhaps you can provide some examples. Try quoting and criticizing something I wrote. That way, I'll be able to learn. I don't think people should rest contented in 'messed up logic'.
It doesn't make sense to me, Simon, because, it seems, from your justification, the only reason you want kids is to do a better job than what your parents did with you. What do you want to prove to yourself? That you can be better than your parents were? These will be new kids in a totally new situation who should not be part of your problem with your parents. Rather have little ones because you really want to enjoy them for who they are than to enjoy your own perfected parenting skills. Sorry, that might sound weird or harsh, but I'm just trying to help.
Plus creating an actual situation with actual kids to give them a good existence is totally illogical. Then you might as well not have any kids at all because this would cancel the problem before it can start

Not really, its not about proving anything. It's about doing something with my life that's positive and meaningful.

I think having kids for your own enjoyment is unethical. On the other hand, I think that having kids in order to give them the sort of upbringing that will give them a higher than average chance at being rational and liberated beings is a much more reasonable position to take.

Sorry, I don't know what you mean by this. What do you mean by 'cancel the problem before it can start?' If the problem is irrationality and delusion, then what's wrong with providing the sort of upbringing that will reduce vulnerability to irrational and deluded living?
i think having kids for your own enjoyment is the best system. provided, of course, you give them a satisfactory lifestyle [ i.e. you don't feed them dog-food or lock them outside all day like one of our neighbours did...those people were sick ]. Anyway, the best kind of parent is OBVIOUSLY one who REALLY LIKES their kid, and doesn't raise him for its own sake alone. Then you might as well put the kid in an up-town orphanage ( if such a thing exists ). But trust me, from the soppy people I observe all day long, I gather that once you found a woman whose company you REALLY ENJOY, you'll be much more likely to have a kid with her whose company you'll REALLY ENJOY or at least really value. You'll look into that ugly little disproportioned wriggly kid's face and you'll see your lover's face, and yours, unified, and you'll just be nuts about the kid and want to do anything to please it. For example, if you really really like a friend, you'll really, really go to the edges of the earth for that friend.
And Simon, can you give me a 100% gaurantee that you will have a kid who you can give a rational and non-delusional thinking pattern to? Sounds like "famous last words" to me...No kid = no chance of kid becoming a whack/loon/unhappy etc.
Now I was wondering if you were ever going to hit back at me with the following point: "Hey, if I don't impregnate that woman, some other man will, and I believe that I will be a greater insurance to that kid of a rational and excellent life". True, at least you will really be trying to give kid good life. But for all you know that woman would have been impregnated by a worse OR BETTER father for the kid than YOU. You just don't know. And you just can't guarantee 100% that you will create a child who will have a rational life. I would play Jesus and not have a kid at all, knowing that the kid might turn out unhappy/strange by any unlucky twist of fate ( if say, I died, lost my job, went nutz, etc. ). Plus no child has a life without some misery. I never want to see any misery in my child. I don't want to see it. So I, personally, would rather not help to start a situation that might turn sour, for me or the child.
But look, just admit you are bored and want children, Simon. And have children if you feel you must to give some sort of purpose to your life, but do not for one second think you can give that kid perfect happiness or rationality, and do not for one second try to justify your wanting kids with "I wanted to give a kid the best life possible" because with my system of logic you would have been saving the kid from any damage in the first place. But, it won't really matter if the kid turns out to be irrational etc., because, like I mentioned, weird little irrational kids run around all day long across the globe. I don't care, it's their problem and their parents' problem.
Woman: I am confused. The man I am with now is the best friend I ever had, but I think I should go back to the man I was with before, even though he used to abuse me badly.
Priest: But you really feel a lot for the man you're with now . . . so I think you should do what your heart tells you!
Woman: My heart tells me to go back to the man who abused me.
Priest: Then you should do what your mind tells you.
