I agree that the outward supplier is definitely the major concern, but I’m wondering whether the outward suppliers have existed for so long it has caused drastic flaws/defects in the genetic code that cannot be corrected as easily as having an insight into the issue.

For instance: there is nothing I would like better than to end certain compulsive behaviours, but the genes are fixed and the behavior doesn’t change no matter how much observation/attempts at negation…

Yes, good point.

Cory wrote:
Why not focus on that flaw CP?
I have focused on it through communicating what my values are to others, but it doesn’t seem to have any affect. And I have put all my energy into ending certain behaviors, but they haven’t ended. This has caused me to ask the question why? Why is man so stunted?

So I’m wondering whether education only works for those who have the right genes anyway. Everyone elses behavior is fixed according to the flaws which have accumulated over generations upon generations.

When UG Krishnamurti stated: it is all luck, did he mean it is all genes?
Jiddu Krishanmurti traveled his entire life preaching the importance of education, but very few drastically changed according to K, they took his talks as an entertainment. He felt frequent bursts of frustration at his inability to change people.

Cory wrote:

Yes and perhaps the generations of ignorance have caused strong mutations in the genome making sensual negation that much harder.

Man has dug himself into a pit and will insight pull him out of it?

What is the relationship between insight and the genetic code changing? And is there some code that cannot be changed by insight no matter how relentless it is? And with some humans their character/genes/self is so weak that insight isnt even an option for them, so should any action be taken to correct their defects or is this action futile?

We're not in a pit. This is life. This is evolution. You should have a little more respect for the process instead of proposing eugenics to hasten YOUR view of how things should be. My god, you're a total nazi freak. Nobody wants your weird science, okay, anthony michael?

Why should I respect a process that has imposed such limitation and imperfection on me? What obligation do I have to submit to this process? Hell, I am this process…

And therefore if I have the desire to shut off my libido gene to become an asexual then I should have that right, Why should I respect something that I am a prisoner of?

So your suggesting that if you are controlled by faulty genes then you should just go with the flow and be a slave?

For the sake of respect?

Who or what is it that you are respecting?

Lol. Yes, fuhrer. And yes, you're a prisoner. I just envision a whole hellish freakish can of worms with gene fucking around with. Experimentation. Intentional creation of slave races. It's just not right.

What's the matter with the clothes I'm wearing?
Can't you tell that your tie's too wide?
Maybe I should buy some old tab collars?
Welcome back to the age of jive.
Where have you been hidin' out lately, honey?
You can't dress trashy till you spend a lot of money.
Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new sound
Funny, but it's still rock and roll to me

What's the matter with the car I'm driving?
Can't you tell that it's out of style?
Should I get a set of white wall tires?
Are you gonna cruise the miracle mile?
Nowadays you can't be too sentimental
Your best bet's a true baby blue Continental.
Hot funk, cool punk, even if it's old junk
It's still rock and roll to me

Oh, it doesn't matter what they say in the papers
'Cause it's always been the same old scene.
There's a new band in town
But you can't get the sound from a story in a magazine...
Aimed at your average teen

How about a pair of pink sidewinders
And a bright orange pair of pants?
You could really be a Beau Brummell baby
If you just give it half a chance.
Don't waste your money on a new set of speakers,
You get more mileage from a cheap pair of sneakers.
Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways
It's still rock and roll to me

What's the matter with the crowd I'm seeing?
Don't you know that they're out of touch?
Should I try to be a straight 'A' student?
If you are then you think too much.
Don't you know about the new fashion honey?
All you need are looks and a whole lotta money.
It's the next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways
It's still rock & roll to me.
Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new sound

This is the same dynamic that allowed Billy Joel to bag Christie Brinkley.

That sounds about the same as suggesting that if we can't genetically engineer humans to be extremely physically strong we could never make robots that exceed human strength.

Intelligence is much more complicated than strength, we have already created robots that are stronger than man, look at a crane. Although it doesn’t operate on its own because it has no intelligence, do you see the problem sir?

Intelligence is complicated. It takes into account the maturity/degree of wisdom of consciousness, which is something that is cannot be completely explained.

In my argument I wasn’t suggesting that man could create genius from birth through genetic engineering, but I was debating whether certain tendencies could be found within the genome and altered as a means to make it easier for the poor chap…

I'm not talking about creating clones or any of that rubbish, I'm asking whether it is possible to genetically correct some of the flaws in the genome that cannot be corrected by psychological insight?

Or is man stuck with his flaws indefinitely? does he need to learn to live with them...?

Must he respect the process or use technology to correct the process?

Are all acts of will futile? this is the question I'm posing....

I don't know if you tried getting a woman. It's an act of will all right. The process is fine without tinkering around, mad scientist guy.

I definitely thought about getting a woman, in my darkest hours I’ve actually considered getting a woman merely to use as a sex slave, but then my reason faculty came back and I talked myself out of it…

Honestly I’d rather try to manipulate my own genome using a rusty scalpel than get a woman…

I guess this is the bonus of Internet pornography, I don’t have to deal with their superficiality because on the internet its short and sweet in that I don’t have to listen to their positive babble after the act…

At least on the internet, after its over I can just collapse onto my bed and pass out into an deep sleep littered with twisted thoughts and unresolved yearnings….

I dont know which is worse: a night of irrational dreaming or a night of listening to a irrational woman, both are nightmares.

So you reduce genius down to the ability to woe a woman? The greater the genius you become the hotter the woman you bag?

When you say 'bagging' a women, you reveal to us how sexist and juvenile your mind is, milli.

Do you desire to treat women as if they are products to buy and stuff in a bag? Are you content with treating woman like something you buy and treat as a possesion?

If so, I think your on the wrong forum.

Oh, I get it now. Sorry fella.

Since we got that out of the way, I'd like to hear what you have to say about my attempts to decipher Billy Joels lyrics.

At the end of each verse he sings - "its still rock and roll to me" in a very satisfied sounding spirit.

Here Billy seems to be defending the comfort that rock and roll gives him.

Its still rock and roll to Billy.

Wait a sec.....What is?

The new sound?

But what is the relationship between this new sound and all of the other things that his lyrics talk about?

His lyrics seem to be critical of trends and fashion....but he then sums up the big myriad of bad trends as people just gossiping and raving about the 'new sound'.........but then Billy sums it all up by saying;

"but its still rock and roll to me!"

An irrational loop.

His battles with alcoholism and depression thus continued or better, were amplified long after that song was recorded.......

Sounds like poor Billy was and continues to be stuck in samsara.

But milli, perhaps you might be able to correct whatever fallacies you see protruding out of this string of thoughts.

All the new stuff is overrated. Rock and roll is still the thing for billy. Just as old fashioned reproduction is the thing for me. All this gene tampering is analogous to the new wave music in the song. See?

then cp said he'd abandon genetic engineering if I quit doing posts like that. Then I implied that as the dynamic between Joel and Brinkley. She married him so he'd cease songwriting. She took one for the team. See. The whole thread is great. Why are you being a whiny little bitch about it?

Wow, yeah.... the thread is great. - all because of you! Your the man Milli!
Why are you being a whiny little bitch about it?
Misinterpreting you and struggling to interpret you, isnt neccesarily being a whiny little bitch now is it?

You meant the dynamic between Joel and Brinkley.

And I thought you meant the dynamic of writing a clever song, becoming a rock and star and bagging a hot chick.

So what? I made a mistake, lets move on.

I mean, my first impression of you was - here is a guy who forms arguments by making references to pop/celebrity culture, references to Starship troopers (a tremendously lame movie that I vaguely remember), by making references to rock song lyrics that really dont say much, and the personal life of Billy Joel.

Here is a guy who, when his interpretation of reality is contradicted - resorts to name calling and over emotional accusations.

There is no need to resort to childish name calling now, milli.

If somebody makes a mistake, give them a chance to recover,

you might find that your superior logic and heart my change someone for the better.

But when you call people evil nazi's, evil bastards, douches, whiny little bitches - - - it makes it hard for people to take you seriously - it makes you seem insecure.

Anyhow, so far you've proven to not be a complete idiot.

But you need to get those emotions under control.

Have a bit of patience, I mean, I just read your other thread and you condemn the use of intimidation and abuse (something a person resorts to when they try and gain control of people)

Well, you seem to be a hypocrite.

Alot of overly emotional accusations and juvenille name calling.

So far, the quality and equaminity of your character and posts have served as nothing more than a deterent to the credibility of whatever gene-therapy resistance movement you perhaps hope to provoke on this board or in this world.

Yeah, and this is a forum dedicated to logical reasoning, not for merely sharing songs with each other, romanticizing rock and roll, blurting opinons, and compulsively hurling insults.

I know you are not trying to reason on the level of a child, but when the quality of your posts clearly reveal that you are on the level of a child, well, then you end up getting treated like a child.

Go take a time-out Milli, or maybe you should go take a nap, and then afterwards, perhaps you and I can have a discussion on the level of a grown adult.

But will my offer be returned with more insults carrying that familar element of depraved sexual circumstances, sexual organs, incest, bestiality, bodily waste....?

Lets go beyond ourselves Milli.

Yes that is freakin obvious, thank you. What I was attempting to do was highlight that what Cory wrote in the top quote is illogical and poorly conceived. There is no inherent link(currently known) between not being able to genetically engineer a human to be profound and perfectly efficient, and not being able to create a robot that exceeds human intelligence.
