Yep, twenty more or less worthless topics, from a philosophic point of view.

Wondering what men like and dislike. Guessing it's about the opposite, with the same twenty.

Sounds like you thought you had a point, starting a thread, and with such an "aha!" and all. What is it?

Well, someone's gotta like talking about the other half, since you can't go on very many vacations without money and a passport.
A mindful man needs few words.

The point is very clear - generally speaking, women are less interested in reality. They are more concerned with dressing up their dogs in cute outfits, or baking cookies, or watching game shows, or gossiping about the girl next door. However, based on the results, it also shows that women are quite good at coming up with lavish fantasies on how to maximize their sensual enjoyment...usually at the expense of their own labor, and the labor of large numbers of men who understand specialized aspects of how reality works.

Steven,
Yeah. Similar to Zen in its rabbit hole reality-tunnel. Many hidden treasures beneath the fabric of space-time.
hidden treasures such as casting spells like a wizard in Dungeons and Dragons? is that what you mean by sorcery? you're not serious are you? hey, btw, Here's a fairly eerie script for you to read: Its from a screenplay I'm writing called the seventh sense.

Ryan: I see deluded people.
Steven: In your dreams?
[Ryan shakes his head no]
Steven: While you're awake?
[Cole nods]
Steven: Deluded people like, where do you see them?
Ryan: Walking around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're deluded.
Steven: How often do you see them?
Ryan: All the time. They're everywhere.

The pattern I see is that the favorite topics are about enjoying the present moment (eg, music, dreams, travel, entertainment). They are all sensory in nature.

The least favorite topics, by contrast, have something to do with time (eg, past relationships, science fiction, religion, science, antiques, history).

In other words, the least favorite topics have something to do with consciousness, and with the intellect.

I think that's just your 'read' on it, Kevin. Just as easily could be seen as all those 'present' topics are actually about consciousness -- being here in the now -- and all that science fiction and history humdrum is some useless musings on the past or future. Let's face it, those least favorite things -- which I presume interest men more -- are some pretty useless subjects, for the most part.

Steven,

I don’t know about matter existing as code, that doesn’t sound like reasonable scientific theory to me, but technology is will probably somehow accomplish the creation of ‘new’ matter from the rearrangement of other matter. I’m thinking that with nanotechnology, it may be possible to rearrange elements in different geometries or pressurize them somehow to make them behave like other elements. It will probably take quite a bit of experimentation, and I could be wrong, but my thinking is that as our finite metal resources run out, humans will have to figure out a way to create material that behaves like some of our pragmatic metals, or perhaps even takes on properties better than our best metals such as copper, aluminum, steel and so on.

If we can create cheap, plentiful, yet extremely durable metals then this will bring the cost of housing and other types of technology down significantly, making life for humans much easier.

That's not the point Carl. The point is that the topics women like to discuss least are usually discussed in some kind of logical framework with a purpose in mind that doesn't necessarily have to do with the here and now. Where as the topics they like to discuss most are discussed solely for the emotional high they get while discussing them in that exact moment. Based on these preferences women have for topics in discussion, it is a strong indicator of an unconscious mind at work that has no potential for philosophy, spirituality, and least of all enlightenment.

No drugs, man. Just days filled with zazen. It's either my third eye, or quite literally matter being manifested from the quantum level. There's a well-known heritage of shamans being taught by Nature, etc.

Interesting idea constructions. I think that's where its probably headed. Molecular manipulation. No additional ideas, as not enough info. You may enjoy this, though:

so what are you now saying Steven, that you believe it is possible for you to create 'new' matter from nothing out of the center of your forehead? keep trying to do that then, and let me know how that works out for you... ; ) you hater of cause and effect...

You strike me as the type of guy who probably camped outside on the street in the rain to buy a ticket to the first Xmen movie on opening day….

Animals, like dogs and fish, are here in the now. So it's not about consciousness and intellect.

I disagree.

Let's examine some of those "least favorite topics":

1. Politics

This is how to manage society as a whole, and deciding upon goals for the whole of society, and attaining them. This topic is extremely important. We don't want the politics of North Korea.

2. Other dates

I'm not sure what this means, but I assume it means the affairs of other people.

But the affairs of other people are important.

3. Past relationships

Our past is what makes us who we are today. So if we want to understand ourselves, then we need to understand the past.

In Buddhist language, this is called "learning from our past lives".

4. Science fiction

This is known to science fiction afficionados as "speculative fiction", and this too is an advanced function of the mind. In Buddhist language, this is called "considering our future lives".

5. Religion

This concerns the Absolute Truth, the source of all things, and the source of value. It is extremely important to any thinking person.

6. Celebrities

This one must be a mistake, since women's magazines are full of gossip about celebrities. Are there any men at all who watch "Entertainment tonight"? I doubt it.

7. Science

Again, this is an advanced function of the mind, involving a comprehension of cause and effect.

8. Antiques

An intellectual and spiritual connection to our past. A reverence for who we really are.

9. Money

Security for the future, and a means to achieve great and difficult things, such as universities, hospitals, libraries, scientific research, and space travel, etc.

10. History

Reverence for reality. I personally own the entire collection of "The World at War" documentary series on DVD. How many women would own that collection? Not many, I would think. That series gave me an extremely deep insight into human nature, and had the power to awake my spirit. Through history we can learn who we are now, and what we can expect for the future.

One can put a positive or negative spin on just about any item on either list.

But, I guess I'm being a stick in the mud here. The object of the thread is obviously to bash women yet again. Let the party continue!

Carl,

That just isn’t true, as Kevin pointed out, the top list is much more feminine than the bottom list, which is relatively more masculine. The top interests abide in the more immediate sensual enjoyment, whereas the bottom list involves planning, improving upon existing structures, making things better for future generations, and enjoyment through intellectual understanding. Moreover, the bottom list is much more abstract, conceptual, and based on perceiving long term patterns in reality as a means to learn some lesson on how to improve the present and future.

Unconsciousness is selfish in an unproductive way, while consciousness is selfish in a very productive way. The two lists illustrate this contrast perfectly, and it sheds some light into the major difference between feminine and masculine interests.

This is pathetic. We get it already, ok. You guys think that women are highly unlikely to be decent philosophers or thinkers. For fuck sake you're obsessed with it. Post after post, thread after thread with this sort of crap. You're obviously orgasming with each new round of disparagement. I expect this from Ryan, but Kevin your recent posts just look like expressions of a deep-seated animosity towards women and a need to constantly put them down. It's all very infantile.

Disparaging's not what it's about, Jason.

Women do personify egotism in a very clear way. That's just how it is. We're not really focussing on women at all, such as to disparage, or trying to correct women. Women are merely diagrammatic tools for the use of thinking persons to recognise delusions within ourselves, and to discard them.

It can help to externalise the false thoughts we have, to see how they are personified (what the personality does). It's just stimuli for getting to know one's own mind. Women often provide excellent externalised images, much clearer than men do, because women are much simpler and one-dimensional.

For instance, for a study on vanity, check out an interview with Coco Chanel. A study on obstinacy: Edith Piaf. Flowieness: Ingrid Bergman. They're all flat characters. It's not to disparage them, you see, but to perform surgery on oneself.

That's basically all women have ever been to the thinking man: simple things to muse on. Muses. We are looking at parts of ourselves; women have been ever-willing to be our lumps of clay.

Of course, the more depth and character, the more consciousness, the less there is a woman there. When the obstinacy, or flowieness, or vanity, combines with reason, then a man starts slowly to emerge.

Dejavu,
Even if it could be proven that men on the whole have a deeper seriousness as regards things of lasting import to humanity, what would be the point of a such proof?
We tackle the same truths from slightly different angles as a means to fully understand tendencies within ourselves. Femininity in its crude form is in all men as well, and that is the reason why men are imperfect. And as Kelly said, analyzing the behavior of women creates a great mirror that reflects upon the self.
What is interesting is how certain people will use this kind of stuff as an excuse to ride their little hobby horse
(masculine=consciousness, female=unconsciousness) believing all the while they are gaining ground.
I’ve never said it was that simple, the unconscious female behavior is in man, but when he transcends the female unconsciousness within, his masculinity as master expresses an advanced form of femininity – meaning he has more compassion for humanity, he is sensitive to the environment, he can appreciate beauty in nature when he sees it, as he doesn’t just rush past life in an ambitious haze of desire usually because he is trying to please his wife (irony). It is ironic because men who have no access to the will of god usually attempt to shack up with women to find beauty in their lives, it is a deep attempt to fill a void, and ironically, she usually robs him of the little bit of freedom and beauty he has left in his life beforehand. His desire for ‘woman’ is the problem, as every desire he acts upon only creates a web of more desires that further enslave him. And that original desire is born from man’s deep yearning for a relationship with the will of god, to which there is no desire. It is an error because he steps in the wrong direction, and that original feminine desire can be thought of as the original sin, as written in many religious texts.

However, It is very important to understand that a man’s mind is both controlled by his own feminine desires and the feminine desires of other women and people in his life. So we are attacking femininity on many fronts.

It is same idea with a military, if you are trying to eliminate an irrational force, you just don’t send in ground troops, you order missile strikes from the water, and you send in stealth bombers from the air. You take advantage of all your masculine skills. And you attack all points of dependence, of which your enemy’s survival depends – bridges, waterlines, transport routes, farms, hospitals, and power stations, with the maximum amount of force.

Attacking femininity on all fronts is like attacking the Achilles heel of evil in this world.

Jason,
This is pathetic. We get it already, ok. You guys think that women are highly unlikely to be decent philosophers or thinkers. For fuck sake you're obsessed with it. The female is in both genders, and we are attacking the female in the male simultaneously, and we are attacking men’s infatuation with women, we are knocking women down from their shrines of worship, so men can find the actual will of god, rather than being controlled by the will of their own desires. Attacking ‘femininity’ serves all these purposes at the same time.

And no matter how many times we explain this, you people still want to believe that we are just sexist fools attacking women merely for our own egotistical enjoyment, things are not that one-dimensional, do you understand how many dimensions I’m speaking from here? And I’m wondering how many years it will take for your thick minds to actually absorb what we are trying to point to here. I bet in another five years, the whole gang that is left opposed will still be calling us sexist women haters who have nothing better to do, meanwhile they’ll be content giving their wife’s foot rubs, and biting off their corns with their teeth….all in the name of happiness! They don’t realize the reality that we value, which causes us to write these things. Moreover, They can’t imagine that there could possibly be a reality deeper than the ones they experience now.
