Re: Suffering Revisited
Nevertheless, the ultimate business of philosophy is to preserve the force of the most elemental words in which Dasein expresses itself, and to keep the common understanding from levelling them off to that unintelligibility which functions in turn as a source of pseudo-problems—HEIDEGGER

Yeah he strips it right back as Quinn suggests.
His elemental word for Dasein's (being there) is Care.
What are you protecting?

Re: Suffering Revisited
You're about as good at it as this guy, so you should make up your mind about doing one or the other—philosophy or Scientology—for a start.
See, that's a big flunk on Upper Indoc TRs, which he, for some strange reason, thinks is an execution of Pro TRs.

Well, that's all well and good. But why come to a philosophy forum trying to do some strange version of Scientology, like auditing without running standard procedure?

Re: Suffering Revisited
Sounds like HCO may have missed a few withholds. You really should go back and have that cleaned up, rather than dramatising it.

Re: Suffering Revisited
Really, what you should be doing is looking at the philosophy behind Ethics Tech.
Maybe then your need for a sec checker might just resolve itself.
Naturally, one has to be committed to doing philosophy to be successful here.

Re: Suffering Revisited
Dennis you mentioned bushwalking and girlfriends and puppies etc,
but for a long long while you didn't mention you took Scientology 'training' or classes or whatever.
Is that aversion? Is there a reason for that?

In reply to that comment a couple days back, the conceptualising of pen parts and pen whole and the wide array of causes and of dependent origination is not a discloser on the meaninglessness we experience. Nor is it the same as the dependency of meaning, the relativity. We don't experience this directly in it's fullness but only conceptualise particular relevant cases, tree, pen, etc.
On another note, the brain is not the cause of perspective/conceptualisation, at least no more than a rock is.
Re: Suffering Revisited
If you had a rock for a brain, you wouldn't be able to conceptualize this perspective.SeekerOfWisdom wrote:the brain is not the cause of perspective/conceptualisation, at least no more than a rock is.

Nice belief you have there. Mind accepting the fact that belief is not reality? Otherwise those that are 'certain' that the crown chakra is *insert more belief* would be correct simply through the commonality of delusion.

My turn, cheese is actually bread, it's a FACT.
It was written and so it is true.

Re: Suffering Revisited
John....if you didn't have a brain you'd have no sense of perception or be able to conceptualize.
Quit trying to evade the truth.
This is reality.
No brain, no pain.

Re: Suffering Revisited
Ok new game, repeat-ourselves. My turn... your clinging to an idea you've probably heard since you were 5, you wrote it, and so it's true.
Let me guess, you've never done a study on existence after bodily death directly? How about a direct study on the brain as the cause of existence? Why doesn't one of us just go for a decapitation and end this discussion of whether existence is limited to one lifetime and the experience of one body once and for all. You go first.
(Thank god that discussion is over. R.I.P Kunga, or continue in peace, who can say? Goodbye)
