Easier-to-read Poison for the Heart
Link.
It's a more meditative layout, with shorter "bite-sized" ideas.
Let me know how it could be improved if you find it useful.
I might add a scroll-bar for easier navigation, though not sure how yet.

The layout is much better.
Alas, you can't make a silk purse, etc., etc.
Amazing. You actually wasted --- er, er, spent ---- your time on PFTH?

Re: Easier-to-read Poison for the Heart
Interesting comment, brokenbrain.
Over the last 3-4 months it's been online, I've been able to study the way people read it, based on the server log. Some people skip from category to category, as if they're holding their breath, and unwilling to breathe while they're reading it, they speed through.
Others sit in one category, studying it, going backwards and forwards in an orderly way. They're swimming calmly in the poison, taking each step as it comes.
It is as if some people can't read more than a few sentences without slamming it in horror, having lost a finger in its steel jaws, never to open it again. They flick through a few pages, and can't see any difference between it and an aggressive opinionated rant by an egotist. It means nothing. Me, I am still either delighted or disturbed. I am rarely unaffected by it. Reading the Woman/Man chapter is still difficult.

There is more wisdom contained in a single line of PFTH than in the entire output of your time here on Genius Forum.brokenhead wrote:The layout is much better.

This implies there is at least some wisdom in Broke's output. I dispute that!

Very nice. I don't think the already short pages need a scrollbar. That's usually done with frames (<frameset> + <frame>'s) or <div>'s and some ugly CSS.Kelly Jones wrote:Let me know how it could be improved if you find it useful.

The search doesn't seem to work.

Re: Easier-to-read Poison for the Heart
I meant a progress-bar, rather than a scroll-bar for a single page. I was thinking of a horizontal bar at the bottom or the side, that one could slide along for the entire book. I'd like a little pop-up above the slider, with the text changing every time the chapter changes. Haven't done anything but consider it as yet.brad walker wrote:Very nice. Are you sure? It's working for me in Firefox and IE. Try a few search terms. The search doesn't seem to work.
I've also just replaced my error code pages, but this shouldn't be affecting the Poison directory search function.
Incidentally, for those using The Reasoner's Library, it has quite a few broken links at present. Hence these new error code pages which should show a search function, as well as a report email send-button.

Pages two and three on the Sleep section repeat a story about a man sleeping a wink when the gates of Heaven open.

My hard drive copy is right, so I must have forgotten to upload that one.
Thanks, Brad. Ironic, eh.

Apologies for the sloppiness.Never underestimate the power of delusion. It is the most cunning of enemies. Also, never forget what the enemy looks like! It is so easy to let the enemy through your doors thinking them to be a friend.
