Rejection
Many people can relate with the feeling of rejection, not a pleasant feeling, but more of an attack on the ego feeling, reducing it to feelings of inadequasies. Humanity keeps humanity in line sort of speak, unfortunately, rejection is the price you pay for a lesson in humility learned.
Rejection
Re: Rejection
Is that what its supposed to be? Honestly I always took it that the other person couldn't handle the weight of the situation. Unless you are talking about being rejected by a possible date, in that case I wouldn't think that necessarily. But as regards family and friends who have disowned me over philosophical content, I just figure they let their ego get in the way. Its not necessarily my fault that another individual chooses to detach from me. Its not necessarily the case that I need to allow their opinions to go unthwarted. Why should I allow that? So as to maintain my own attachments? For fear that they might freak out and detach? Doesn't that just mean that everyone is afraid to challenge the opinions of those close to them? And isn't it the people we are close to who we are most likely to listen to? Seems like quite the conundrum. I've generally thought that the truth was more valuable than any one of my finite relationships. So a lot of people have detached from me. On the other hand a lot of people have also gotten something from what I've said in those circumstances. So perhaps had I said nothing those people would have lost out. It has an appearance of selflessness to endure the insanity of others, but is this truly selfless or is this not just protecting oneself from persecution and detachment? I think its truly selfish to want to protect one's own attachments and not represent truth in the world. I'm not sure how a person who claims to fully understand the truth could actually do this.
