Any further ascii art will be deleted. We get the idea.
Edit: I'm obviously not including smilies in that statement.

What not lighten up? Isn't this the "worldly" forum" anyway?Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini wrote:There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious.
Your board, I'm just curious about the justification here. Not that you're obligated to justify it, but if you want to, I'm listening.

It's not that I have a low vocabulary, it's just that the people around me prefer work over education. Which leaves me in a tight spot.
My entire day involve sitting around a couch doing not much at all. Most people work for a living. I prefer to meditate on television, radio, and sometimes a book. Like my favorite one, the catcher in the rye. This author explicably knows not much about anything at all but english. He is so bored out of his mind, like me, that he spends his entire days searching for some entertainment. I remember this one part in the chapter where he is on a train talking to some boy's mom, relating to her on the subject that her son is a son-of-a-bitch moron. This entirety pretty much sums it up for me. Beginning with the phrase" for every negative, there is a postive"
I've been so bored out of my life, that I have started creating dillusions, that at far off seem real to me, but to the people closest to me, it may seem a tad bit odd. Picture, bill gates endorsing the future of technology. This stuff makes me bored. Seeing bill gates on t.v. showing us how the future of house hold products will work. How pathetic.
In my vision of the future, aliens will descend upon moscow, and teach us how to build skyscrapers and shit. However, this is only my intuition. I wish that I could write some more, but my inspiration has run dry. Sorry!.

Whilst it's true that this is the "worldy matters" forum, I don't intend on "lightening up" any time soon. It's a compromise of sorts just allowing this forum to exist. Don't make me add emoticons and images too bobdammit! Basically my thinking is this: the Internet is utterly awash with banality, frivolity and the ability to indulge oneself in the so-called "lighter" side of life. This place is something of a haven from that. There's plenty of capacity for humour and wit here; I just don't want to let it be just another place on the Net like every other place. You let your "standards" slip just a little and before you know it you've got Bikini Atoll.Unidian wrote:Dan wrote:The rules prohibit images being posted... I mean, seriously, if a person can't go 5 minutes without engaging in some kind of comparatively mindless behaviour then I think they need to reflect on their nature. Genius Forum is quintessentially a place for thinking and discussion. That which doesn't lend support to that enterprise has no real place here.
As for images in posts, I just see no need for it. Threads full of images simply distract from the ideas being discussed. Pertinent images can be linked to without difficulty.
